Anybody used powershell scripts? Where GPP doesn't work is this when using loopback replace?

Those who are mapping Home to the home drive does it work if the home drive folder is in the root of the share on your file server?

Is network connectivity OK on the macs? Is DNS ok? Are you using a FQDN for your domain? I'm currently trying to get a group of 11000 into Profile Manager.

I think edu should have the same standard of hardware and software as business. We need to prepare students for the real world. Linux is used but mostly on the server side not the desktop. So edu will be using Windows mostly. The trend to move away from VMWare onto Hyper V is troubling as away from education VMWare is still dominant. Due to cuts a lot of schools/colleges are going with Hyper V. Of you follow the same logic with the desktop OS we could end up with Debian in the classroom. But can you lock it down and manage it in the same way as windows? Or will you spend a lot of time writing scripts in place of GPP.

Having used and deployed Vision,netop,abtutor and now impereo. They are all prone to breaking and causing strange issues to the underlying OS. In terms of how quick Windows 10 is updated means it's harder for these companies to keep up with the changes. Though a cloud solution could be interesting.

You also have the authentication issue to contend with. You need any flavour of Linux to authenticate with your filtering.

You may have to give modify rights to users for its folder in program files. Also if you use applocker you'll have to allow exes signed by Autodesk. I reckon it'll download the updater into %temp% in the profile.

I only had about 30 PCs so I just ran the latest version in a SCCM Package with the update switch. Though if it was a larger amount I woul run the command line for uninstall and run the install as a SCCM application. If you can give your test VM ( I assume) a static IP with http and https out you can know for sure its the proxy causing the issue. Maybe one day Auto desk/Adobe/Exam Companies/Apple will just build proxy with authentication support into there products.

Are you using a proxy? I found I had to gpp a file in the profile for the proxy to be set. There is a log in appdata which tells you if it's struggling with proxies.

Could have a drive map with remove with targeting if NOT in "Group Name".

Remove this item when it is no longer applied ? On the drive map settings?

Is MDT on the same server with the same ADK?

When you say use. Do you mean the error occurs during a TS? If so check the panther folder in the Windows folder check setup error logs.

Some people have resorted to powershell as a workaround.

Hi I've been trying to get settings to push from a mac server to a group (sync's with OD from AD). However it says no members. In Open Directory the group does have members. My test group only has 3 users. Has anyone else successfully pushed out Device and user profiles to Mac OS?

No I haven't looked at it recently. You could script it or Group Policy the Certificate and the Firewall Rules.

Digging deeper you can create a test and production target group. This can be pushed out via group policy. Test new updates to the Test target group first then to the production target group. Make sure your servers only reboot at night.

So not as easy as a re-image with SCCM.

So any laptops you have about that came with Win 7/8.1/10 home you can't install to? Despite paying ESS. Someone else have a read and see if I misunderstood.
