Just would like to know if anyone had changed to this in terms of power management/maintenance. I'm testing automating PCs going into standby after a set time, when idle. To save money on power but also so Windows 10 can WOL reliably. This is to allow the feature updates to take place out of hours. Also Windows Updates can occur out of hours. This seems to be the mentality from Redmond as Windows 10 seems to take quite a while to settle down as soon as it reaches the logon screen. So should help with pre-fetch. I'm applying the Shared PC mode as it gives a log off option if someone leaves the PC logged on when idle. Has anyone had any experience of implementing this change and also users getting used to not shutting down?

I did that Office 2000 to 2010. I think I ended up using vnc for staff PCs.

Be good if it would log in with an organisation account so photos could be stored in one drive.

How many people are using loopback to implement redirected start menus? Even if you redirected the start menu shortcuts have to exit in c:/programdata/Microsoft/windows/start menu/programs Also .URL files font work like they did in 1511. In 1607 you have to edit the XML and add shortcuts to edge. I also noticed on 1607 that the startup folder on a redirected start menu run twice with loopback on.

I think its a out of hours job. PC wakes up. Uninstall old version. Install new version. You can use the application model but turn on supercedence for office 2010/2013. A reboot is really needed for the uninstall and the install. Or just reimage if its easier. Or course you need reliable WOL for this to happen.

I've also got this issue. So I think I need to move the mailbox back to on prem then export-mailbox as you can't do this directly on 365.

Well the start-layout is in a database which the XML gets pulled in. I switched to computer GPO as user was being unreliable under 1511. Though I did have loopback replace enabled. As for changing it. I created a new layout each time making sure the shortcuts were in the start menu.

I gpp'd the file onto the PC then pointed the GPO to it. Seems to work on 1511. Currently trying to get 1607 to work. Is your start menu redirected ? Are you using it on 1511 or 1607. I found the export-startlayout fails if the start menu is redirected.

Is the XML file on the PC or stored on a share?

Is this though computer GPO or user GPO ? Or dism ?

Does it work with Office 2016 as a pose to the built in Onedrive for Business support? Did you have to relax any GPOs to make it work? Does it work with all the high quality education software out there? Have any users lost any work? Is it just a script?

It may have been the lack of drivers for that particular model. Quite hard to trace with a freeze. It was Windows 10 x64 1511 on viglens.

I found 11.4 caused issues on windows 10 like PCs not starting up.

I usually build a reference PC/laptop/tablet. Then update all the drivers l. Then use powershell export-windowsdrivers. Exclude any print drivers and import into SCCM. Use a wmi query per driver package. It works apart from some lazy OEMs. Who don't encode a system model. Though you can usually use the baseboard. I think things have got better with the more recent updates though it does break multicast every time. The signing key is removed from the registry. I guess I should submit it to uservoice otherwise MS won't change it.

If your current supplier has a hybrid solution you can move the mailboxes back to on prem. Then import them somehow to your new tenancy.

I guess it depends if you've got 100mbps network or 1gig. And how decent your desktops are.

If you don't include it in your image you have to deploy it and all the updates it requires.
