Yep, we use this to manage our estate. Provides great info on most recent users per device. It can also show utilisation by OU which is a great way of showing how much chromebooks are being used per department area. Also made it really easy to update the asset details for each device when enrolling.

As the title says we are looking to procure a large armoured screen for our PE department. They want to use it in the sports hall and gym, therefore needs to be mobile. And as you know, students aren't always that delicate so it also needs to be able to take a good beating. Think we need one that is a minimum of 52". Can anyone make a recommendation? Thanks!"

Has anyone set up hyper-v 2012 cluster?
Iosoma replied to nicholab's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I've just done one, fantastically easy. Just get your storage set-up and follow the wizard. Also make sure you get your networking sorted. Live migration is a modern miracle! -
What are your thoughts on the Google Chromebooks? They are now 229 to retail and can be leased. You get full flash and a real keyboard. I have one of the earlier generation chromebooks and can see how they would really suite education. There are some shortcomings, but not as many as using iPads etc.

Reset User Profile in Window Active Directory
Iosoma replied to doombadger's topic in Windows Server 2008
Do not manually delete a roaming profile if it is for Windows 7 / 2008 R2 as this will cause a profile corruption. There are references in the registry that also need to be deleted. You can delete a profile on the client side in the Advanced System Settings area > User profiles. Hope that helps! -

JDisk is a great tool for this, shows counts ages and groups by file type. The reports can be saved and shown to management! -
Has anyone had issue with staff training when moving to Google Apps. And do you use google docs etc?

I think this shows how little they understand, especially considering all of the studies that have taken place. Do they not understand we are constantly bombarded by natural electromagnetic fields, most from that big ball of fire in the sky?

Youtube in Schools - Useful teaching tool or pain in the backside?
Iosoma commented on Andrew68's blog entry in Andrew68's Blog
We allows staff to access it, but disallow access to students. We have also developed an internal youtube like system that hosts videos that staff need to access. This seems to be the most flexible route, but can require some additional work! -

It looks quite nice, but does it have any distinct advantages over FOG? Apart from being a lot prettier...- 9 replies

Zuckerberg: the iPad 'is not mobile' - Next question...
Iosoma replied to mattx's topic in General Chat
I quite liked the film, a few inaccuracies but hey thats Hollywood. I do disagree with him on the iPad though, for me it's incredibly mobile, couldn't imagine working without it. -

Anyone seen this problem before? stripey projection
Iosoma replied to stevenwba's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
My 2c, if the striping looks like a strange refresh rate problem (flashing / strobing) your pc and the projector could be on two different power phases. Had this in an IT room once, drove us bonkers. Try powering both off a power extension, and see if the fault remains. -
i try to pick two things, one professional and one personal to learn. Give them a go for about a month or so to see if they stick. Sometimes the subjects can link together, like web design and coding. Also try to find a niche, virtualisation is a big one at the moment and also a pretty easy one to learn.

Have a look at Phototuts: Contemporary Wedding Photography. They have great tutorials if you want to get yourself up to scratch. I've been thinking about going down this road part time but need to improve my technique. Oh and always shoot in RAW!

We setup windows media streaming services which streams wmv's from a file share to a video cms site (Absolute Video Channel clicky) which didnt cost much. You could use any other cms e.g. drupal. It has worked out great, currently serve 1170ish videos using minimal bandwidth and its available at home. And the streams can be embeded any where (media element) so its good for your VLE. There is a free version of expresion encoder, which makes batch conversion really easy. Hope that helps!

This would be awesome if someone can get this info!
