  1. Shame it ends during the school holidays.
  2. May I suggest a kettle?
  3. Someone else mentioned gog.com this morning. Will have a ganders. Sorry for going off topic. ;-)
  4. Well, at least most places appear to charging less for the ebooks than paperbook, which makes sense as no extra production, cost of paper needs to be added on. Unlike downloadable games of course. Was looking on the GAME website yesterday at some classic PC games from around 10 years ago and you could purchase a physical copy of one game (forget which) for £1.49, yet it cost £9.99 to download. Plonkers!
  5. So do guests at Her Majesty's pleasure.
  6. Despite Safety Nets Foxconn Staffer Falls to Death Who on earth even thought up the concept of putting a no-suicide clause in contracts? They even have nets around the factory to (try to) stop employees from jumping. What a truly sad state of affairs. * Could have been an accident, but pigs might also be known to fly.
  7. I may be tempted myself if it can display Microsoft manuals that are in pdf format. Call me a slacker, but I cannot be bothered to sit down and try to read for more than a few minutes with a book that would kill a kitten if you dropped it on it.
  8. Did you thak them by saing it was "Well Good"?
  9. It's working now. Cut and pasted my original code into notepad and re-saved. No idea why it threw a hissy fit.
  10. Just tried this and it's telling me there are too many command-line parameters. This is a fresh build I'm testing on too. Think I need to try another workstation. Cheers for the help.
  11. I'm writing a batch file that involves querying the OS to see if it is running Windows XP. The failing bit of code is as follows: REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion" /v ProductName | FIND "Microsoft Windows XP" When I run this, I get the following error: ProductName REG_SZ Microsoft Windows XP Error: They system was unable to find the specified registry key or value I cannot see what is wrong with the command? Any pointers? Is it a stupid little spelling mistake? Ta Edit: These values are in the registry and I'm definitely running it on XP :-)
  12. There be fruit in my Pies!
  13. I for one, am looking forward to seeing SOLUS 3 P2 in action. The demos I've seen show it to be just what my LEA is looking for.
  14. Appletreewick. 2 campsites 2 cracking pubs Peace and tranquility Great countryside
  15. Not really. Turns out HP seems have gone up too. Of course, we may simply have a poor supplier.
  16. Not directly BSF related but IBM kit seems to have gone up from our main supplier (can't name) by about 30-40%. Budgets are well and truly going to be squeezed.
  17. Phil Neal said he wouldn't get up and speak at next years SIMS conference if they hadn't sorted System Manager 7.
  18. Add to that the price increases a lot of suppliers appear to have just brought in for one reason or another.
  19. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Fly is Dave.
  20. Install them both tomorrow, I dare you!
  21. A machine can never have too much RAM (32 bit argument aside)
  22. I think a lot of folk in general just don't know how it works. A collegue of mine was driving us up the motorway last week at 70mph, windows down and air con on full. I didn't want to rock the boat.
  23. Informing teachers that Air-con does not work if all the classroom doors are wide open, would probably reduce it by quite a lot.

    iPads

I'm sure they're still going ahead with it. I can't wait for the Android tablets to really take off. I don't trust ebay and the ones on offer on dealextreme sound dodgy. I was a tablet sceptic until recently but I now believe they will be of far more use than Netbooks. If only Apple halved their price eh?
