If I have access to the hardware, I find the Devices section in AIDA64 invaluable for working out what drivers are missing from a particular machine... On loading Aida64, click on Devices, then Windows Devices, before scrolling down to double click on the “Unknown” Selection. Highlighting each device will once again show you a driver description for the device and Hardware ID, which once again, can be searched for online.

I don't mind paying for finished software, but I -do- object to paying for beta software. After all, without beta testers input, would any problems in the software be highlighted?

You should be able to download the Office Compatability pack, which will allow you to open docx and xlsx file formats in older versions of office.

I'd make sure that you check the version of Flash you're installing, Gongalong. I've seen a problem before, where a particular version of flash and Realplayer were causing similar issues in Firefox, but the next update resolved the problems. The current version that I'm using and having installed on our PCs, is 11.4.402.265 (I've not tested 402.278 yet). If you have any trouble finding an installer, I'd suggest looking on filehippo, as they tend to keep a decent archive of prior releases.

I guess it all depends HOW securely you want to wipe the data on the drive (i.e. how many passes). If you're wanting a less secure solution, you could try using Clean all from Diskpart, which would zero every sector on the disk. Please note, however that this can take up to 5 hours, for a single pass on a 1TB disk...

I'd try looking at Karen's Replicator? Karen's Replicator I know that you can set it to only replicate updated files.. but I'm not sure how it checks for this. It might compare last written on the files in the source and backup locations..

We tend only to add LAN drivers to the OOBE Drivers box, and then use a SQL Database to determine the hardware profile.
