How to i fix this? Over at our sports centre my laptop is unusable, keeps jumping to another AP point for some reason dispite there being one 2 meters away from me with full signal! On the latest version of the Zone Director and AP firmware, they are 6373AP's. Logs show below. Its driving me potty. Why is it jumping grrrrrrrr. Is there some advanced diagonostics mode i can do with the Zone Director to get to the root of the issue? 2012/03/07 21:35:21 Low AP[PE Office] radio [11g/n] detects User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] in WLAN[CCSC] roams from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:35:21 Low AP[sports Centre] radio [11g/n] detects User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] in WLAN[CCSC] roams out to AP[PE Office] 2012/03/07 21:35:18 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:35:12 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:34:54 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:34:30 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:34:21 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:33:38 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:33:15 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:32:54 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:32:32 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:32:27 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:32:22 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:32:15 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre] 2012/03/07 21:31:54 Low User[00:1e:64:41:1f:6e] joins WLAN[CCSC] from AP[sports Centre]

EMBC - whether to move away or not?
Quackers replied to pingleict's topic in East Midlands Broadband Consortium (EMBC)
Not in your county , but we were paying £9750 (or somewhere close to that) a year for 10 Megabit and the service was poor, it was from the LEA with RM doing some bits. We moved last year to Zen and its the best thing we did. No downtime on the connection at weekends, no stupid charges for additional public IP's or DNS changes, and in complete control of our line. Zen actually having very technical staff at the other end is also a pleasure, not just call centre script readers. We pay £14,000 a year for 25 Megabit on a 100 Megabit bearer so we can increase in the future if we need it. Zen gave us 32 Public IP's (Had choice of 1,8,16,32,64,128 or 256). They waved the install charge. We also have backup ADSL, so if something was to go through our fibre it auto switches to DSL on another Exchange, not the fastest, but better than no internet at all, so a great backup, costs no extra in terms of payment to Zen. We bought a Fortigate 200B box for the filtering and firewall and cannot fault it. -
When they break, but we do always have at least 1 switch boxed and brand new on standby, if it gets used another is ordered. Worked well so far.

Had somebody at work ask me to fix their PC, it needs Windows re-installing, they have no discs, but it has a Windows XP Home OEM Key on the side (sticker). Obviously our media will not work, and Microsoft do not have the Home XP for download in the Volume Licensing centre. How do i get hold of XP Home OEM? Obviously nothing illegal as she has a licence, and its the licence you buy not the media....... had a look on torrents and they all seem to be pre activated versions which i do not want i want to use her legitamate key.

Thanks for the help, managed to sort it by rebooting Zone Director once most users had gone home. Version is 9.1.0.0 build 23

The delete button is greyed out in the Zone Director when i click the MAC Address of that AP.

Recently bought Ruckus, were going around installing, got 14 Points all done so far.(7363's) Plug in, wait for it to appear in the Ruckus Zone Director with the AP Name RuckusAP , click edit, give it a different name, eg Room 2, set which WLAN group they are in, set the IP to static, save, it reboots and all is good. Last 2 points we have installed its not doing this, they appear in the Zone Director, but they have no name, and they are auto assigning there WLAN group, and i cannot edit the settings, clicking edit does not bring up the big orange/yellow boarded config box. Other weird thing is in the list of AP's all the correctly configured ones list 5.0Ghz Channels then 2.4 Ghz Channels, these 2 are doing it the other way round. I have tried a factory reset on the AP's but they do exactly the same again. Whats going on?

Well i was just confused as DHCP is an option to Allow, so since all was set to block i was just woundering why it allows it through if there is an option for it.

How come when connecting to the Wireless Guest SSID clients are getting a DHCP responce when the following rules are set Order Description Type Destination Address Application Protocol Destination Port Action 1 Deny 192.168.0.1/19 Any Any Any EditClone 2 Deny 10.0.0.0/8 Any Any Any EditClone 3 Deny 172.16.0.0/12 Any Any Any EditClone 4 Deny 192.168.0.0/16 Any Any Any EditClone Create New Advanced Options My DHCP server has an address of 192.168.2.1 so how come its being allowed to communicate with it when everything is set to Deny?

Trying to give Linux ago, as i only have 1 box at work running it and thats our Asterisk VoIP server running on CentOS, and the most i have done is used ifconfig and vi to edit a few config files. Thought i would try Ubuntu as thats the one thats chatted about a lot, and well, i just did not like the interface at all. Do any other distros have majorly different GUI?

Nobody with Ruckus knows how it works?

We have just taken over support of a second site, and are having a private 100 Meg link put in between us and them. They have no WiFi, and we also want to move to a managed wifi system. So my question is, do i need 2 Zone Directors (1 at each site) or can i get away with 1? Does all the WiFi traffic go through the Zone Director or does it purely manage their settings, so the bandwidth usage is not that much? I do not want 1 Zone Director if all the traffic from the remote site AP's has to come over the 100 Meg link and back down again.

We moved to Elastix, which is just Asterisk with all the bells and whistles added, and much better interface. (Still free). We had an ISDN32e line put in and rent 8 channels. Has worked flawlessly since 2009. It just works! Disaster plan is 1 normal BT PSTN line still in main office that alarms, and an emergency phone go on.

Can you run SCCM 2012 along side SCCM 2007 on the same domain without causing issues?
-
No, but curuous does SCCM 2012 handle package deployment any better? With SCCM 2007 if you deploy some software to a collection, and then you have to rebuild a station at a later point, its not clever enough to detect that software is not installed and should be. Is this addressed in 2012? or have you not come accross that yet.

Thanks for the replys, a few things to check!

Trying to help out a local primary with support, they have Smartboards (we have promethan so its new to us). A teacher says his board slowly goes out of alignment over the day getting more and more out of alignment until he snaps and does a re calibration. Should not have to be doing this all the time, checked and the projector is not moving. Anybody experienced this?

[sims] SIMS Behaviour Management Somewhat Flaky
Quackers replied to DavePriorHLS's topic in MIS Systems
No pay very little attention to SLG now as we only use it for Teachers mark sheets/reports, rest we use a different product for. -
[sims] SIMS Behaviour Management Somewhat Flaky
Quackers replied to DavePriorHLS's topic in MIS Systems
It does not work, we had a product manager in, said we wanted a certain feature on the SLG, they said other schools had asked for it at one of these meetings where a few people sit round a table. So when asked when it will be implemented, answer was it will not, they refused to add a simple print button! -
I dumped my Windows laptop for an Apple Mac last month

Can anybody with the Sims Learning Gateway help me, and send me 1 folder from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\FEATURES folder on their server? When i try to run the Update Web Tier MSI it gets most the way through then says '12\Templates\Features\CCS_UpdateSiteDefinition\Feature.xml' does not exist, and sure enough there is a load of folders all begining with CCS_ , but the UpdateSiteDefinition one is not present. Could anybody email me their UpdateSiteDefinition folder? It does exist in the Web Tier.msi but its all done as Feature.xml, Feature1.xml, Feature2.xml then extracted to the right folder, so i have not chance of extracting the files and contructing that folder.

Has anybody with the Sims Learning Gateway jumped from Sharepoint 2007 to Sharepoint 2010 yet? and if so How much did Capita charge? Was it a fresh install of Sharepoint 2010 and move stuff over or upgrade over top of existing Sharepoint 2007 install?
