I have a new server for my email, my current server is EX2003 with a single core 3gig Xeon with 2gb ram and it's really struggling now. I have purchased a new server with 2 2.33 Quad Core Xeons and 8 GB ram and was going to put 2007 on it and transition over but now I am thinking I might as well just make the move to 2010.

Is there an easy upgrade path from 2003 to 2010?

You can download a broadcom utility which is wizard based, broadcom net xtreme I think it was called, obviously only works on broadcom adapters.

How do you auto input outlook client settings for users for email? I want to open up email but I need to hve a simple solution to setup outlook automaticaly when a user logs in.

Fixed thorugh our support partner:- Here is the solution if anyone else has the problem: Run a Backup in Sims In Sims .net Route - Tools -> Academic Management -> Apply Timetable Under the Date Range (on the left hand side) Change the From Date to the beginning of the week Leave the To Date intact. At the bottom of the screen, under the heading - (from date) Maps to Timetable Day Change the drop down list to show the name of the day corresponding to the date entered in the Date Range "From" box. Click Apply Click Save Hope this helps anyone else who gets the same situation.

Anyone know why sims would be showing yesterdays timetable rather than todays? If you click forward on the timeline to tomorrow it's fine, but today is stuck on Groundhog day It's even affecting te cover module.

I keep get intermittent problems with the script we have been running for a longtime. Seem to be having a few weird problems with scripts at the moment: *Sometimes Login Scripts will run and map drives, sometimes they wont, you can resart the machine and they will load, it's really as random as that. *Printer Scripts somtimes they run sometimes they don't One day you will have printers one day you won't. The randomness of this is really beginning to wind me up as there is no pattern to it at all. Anyone had a simillar problem or any idea what could be causing this? I would not have thought it's a virus as we are fully up to date and we scanned every machine during the Half Term break. IT can't be network latency as we have upgraded the curriculum network to a 2 gig fibre backbone with only an edge switch between machine and the layer 3 Core Switch. Stumped I am.

What if you have school Governors, they ultimately employ the Head so therefore the network is technically theirs. What if the file area was a governor only area?

I am looking to overhaul things here, currentlt techs log in using the Domain admin account when ever tey want to do anything (I know, I know we should not be doing it), I want to change things to proper best practice and was wondering how you set your tech accounts up, what privileges do you give them, do you use a specific GPO etc. Thanks.

We use an HP ultrium Autoloader with tapes capable of backing up 800gb of data each. I would not be taking backup tapes home either, unless I wanted to open myself up to being sacked or prosecuted if they get lost or stolen.

We have a laser printer in every classroom and every admin worker has their own printer. I would be interested to know which printers people use for Departmental printer if you are only using 1 per department. I might look at reducing down from the 100 printers we have at the moment.

We have a constant problem here with staff failing to trn off equipment at the end of each day when they leave work. This concerns the head greatly and asked me to find out what other schools do to tackle the problem apart from constant reminders? Any suggstions or pointers on how your school manages to tackle dirty energy wasters is much appreciated
