All of a sudden you have a family member come down with a cough, clears that issue right up.

Managed to find a decent self service way Deployed the O/S Deployment TS to a test group but instead of setting it to 'Only Media and PXE' I set it to 'configuration manager Client'. It now shows as available in the Software Center under Operating Systems. It shows that it already installed, click reinstall and it kicks off and is running. Will feed back when it ends.

Is there anyway to set an task sequence off from SCCM itself on a computer? If I decide that a teacher machine in isolation needs to be redeployed, rather than physically visiting the machine PXE booting it and then selecting the task can I do it remotely in some fashion, has anyone managed to set this up? Totally agree, if you want a desktop experience use windows, if you are more partial to a browser based experience use Chromebooks. Really the question is what advantage to you and your users, over these tried and tested methods of delivering a consistent user experience, would you get by moving to Linux?

Just to update, it seems there was a problem with his SettingsPackages folder, I think he got sticky keys stuck as on in there somewhere, nuking it resolved the issue for future reference.

This happens on any computer he uses and if you log in with a different account its all fine.

Have a student who can only type 1 letter at a time after he has logged into windows. When he presses a key you have to hold it down for a few seconds before the key types, I thought he might by on sticky keys but that appears to be off. Mandatory profile with redirected appdata, even after deleting the appdata it still does it regardless of the machine he is on as well. Any ideas?

We had a similar issue to this a number of years ago, after 2 weeks we manged to track it down to our AV which had switched from local scanning to central scanning. Every machine sent every file accessed to the AV VM for scanning and used up all the IOPS bringing all the VMS to a crawl.

I have the paid for version of PDQ deploy and inventory (£450pa each) and I couldn't live without it, a brilliant bit of software.

This demonstrates everything that is currently wrong with this world.

I agree with @mikeprice better to get a plumber to look at it and give you his opinion, I changed a radiator myself and it wasn't that much of a chore, couple of youtube vids later Plumber Parts do some great vids. plumberparts

We use LanSchool (an old version) in some rooms and Net-Support School in others.

We deploy printers using GPO -> Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Printer Connections. Configured to the GPO using Deploy Printer from the print server and selecting the Printer GPO we have attached to the OU the computer is in. Works a treat.

We use a company called Silicon Alley, they provide all the ink/Toner we need to keep onsite free of charge, no upfront payment, you only pay for what you use when you send them your monthly stock-take. No contract either, it's great because when you no longer need the toner you just send it back as you have not paid for it in the first place, they do reman as well as originals. Windows-noob.com is your friend. About a couple of days to get it up and running and a lifetime of tinkering We use it for Deployment of OS, we used to use it for software as well, that was until we got the Amazing PDQ Deploy and inventory.

We had a similar issue with one of our users but that turned out to be because they were using the Network Pass through on their phone, changed them to a direct connection and it was fine. Offering it up just in case you do that.

Interesting problem, modern apps were working during my final testing using a mandatory profile, we have now rolled out in the summer and the modern app will not open, they open to load and then close. If you log in as an administrator they open fine, even if I give the users a loacal profile or a roaming profile they still do the same thing. It's really bugging me as they were working during tests, the only difference is we applied the 1809 cumulative update. Any Pointers?

Everything went fine but I have just a few intermittent issues with group policy applying randomly. The main problem GPOs are start menus, Printers and default keyboard. Mostly they apply as normal but randomly they will not or they will pop in 10 mins after the user has logged in, never had this with windows 7..... Other than that Windows 10 has been ok, any thoughts on anything I can do to stabilize it.

We rolled out Win 10 Staff were back yesterday no real problems only a few machines failing to get the proper GPO assigned. Students back tomorrow

Surely only the part of them getting in and out of the car as that is personal data, the car itself is not personal data. There could be an argument that giving out the footage of someone hitting it is handing over someone else's personal data and only available to law enforcement etc..

But if he is not in the footage then he is not entitled to it, so they could refuse and be justified in their refusal as it would not be part of the subject access request.

Resolved thanks for the pointers. Managed to eventually remote in ( remote desktop was not set) using PDQ Inventory, every USB item in device manager had an exclamation mark, removed them, scan for hardware changed they all came back up as working apart from one as unknown. Click on the unknown and then update driver bam! picked it up and keyboard and mouse working straight away. Now to find a way to automate it for those machines to save me remoeting into about 50 Thanks for the help guys.
