  1. no idea, weve been told that on the day we must have made arrangement for ofsted to seamlessly access the internet - this would usually be by throwing up a new ssid in prepperation for their arrival with our inspection turned off and filtering reduced to our non negotiable stuff. Its in your interest imo to make their visit as barrier free as possible the last thing you want to do is put a bad start on an already long day.
  2. Youre entitled to that view, our on staff hmi have told us otherwise
  3. like i said, non negotiables doesnt require context aware filtering.. cut off the blatant illegal/inapropriate content - just dont inspect it, most wont have the know how or want the inconvenience of making stuff work - some may not even have the access to their equipment to do so. they need to be able to walk into the school, get given a wifi key and get on with their work.
  4. This but i would add it needs to be non intercepted and would keep the filtering down the non negotiables they need to be able to use the inspection app which runs on ms powerapps and access the portals making sure this works without intervention is probably in your best interests.
  5. Renaming the google domain is easy enough, licences on your account can be a blocker though - When i did this a fair few years ago google shuffled stuff around for us and made it happen. We dont have any ad connections though
  6. how do you people deal with CCS? Theyre harassment level suppliers, can ask about a paperclip without been hounded every day for weeks.... as for amazon, if your school sets up a business account i think finance can lock you to suppliers who comply with the vat rules so they can always claim it back
  7. Get a cloud key plus Setup a vlan port on your smoothwall and use that to provide/control the guest vlans/dhcp/dns
  8. if you run google apps theres a build in resource booking system in calendar
  9. What do you mean? Dont you have access to the Backup Console? can red the errors there or connect to the machines client remotely to read them?
  10. Cardpresso - The basic version was about £35 iirc. the higher tier versions can connect to external datasources etc
  11. System > Preferences > User Interface. Make sure the current cert is whats set in the admin UI bit
  12. Have you installed the new root ca on the client
  13. Ive recently been getting this too, removing the drivefs folder from %localappdata%\google seems to solve it until after a reboot. :/
  14. login is on port 442 admin on 441 should just be some firewall rules
  15. just an FYI unless the ipad is supervised i dont think you can deploy the cert and have it "trusted" by default.
  16. Just make key people aware of how to work past it, It kills parentpay - Atleast the admin backend, mucks around with the MIS Reporting randomly too. You can deploy custom whitelists through gpo/google admin but i didnt get past just checking if it was possible
  17. If you ring them they will probably replace it - I know we had one with a faulty nic a few years ago that would lockup, had a new one out nbd after they poked at it
  18. Think the memmory usage at 80% is normal ours is the same - although its not an s8.
  19. Ill have to get that arranged at some point - Was waiting for a renewal to come around to see what the bad side of cloud was as id rather go serverless
  20. Have you tried papercut on linux? the Print provider s**T a brick when he turned up and we asked them to install it on linux rather than windows... ended up back on a windows box. Though i would like to fix that at some point
  21. Ive had this raised last week for sen kids, i chucked them in an OU with unlock pins enabled. seems to have helped or atleast the teachers havent said its no good
  22. just did the same, Binned WSUS enabled WUFB with a 7 day install deadline. Id rather fix the odd computer that goes tits up than deal with wsus these days
  23. Disable mouse acceleration?
  24. yeah that looks a bit off - Like its not respecting the proxy, is your smoothwall not in a position to do transparent proxy? and presumably there is no entry for the destination/source in proxy exceptions as this would make the transparent proxy not pickup the traffic and thus hit the firewall
  25. Find your account managers number, kick up a stink and see what you can get out of it - If theyre not meeting their SLA's, try and get some service credit? Account manager explained its in hand and theyre changing things but training people takes time - Just need to hold them to account before renewals come along - The biggest thing that winds me up is they have time for engineers to onboard people for the other products and ive made my annoyance known at a few levels, a few people have said emailing the ceo gets results too
