There's various sites like montastic for monitoring web sites. Linux webmin has a service/server monitor built in ( you could run that on pi ) or just bash script it with pings and mail commands. Rob

The scheem is a bit strange realy. Most people use it as a way to buy a recreational bike of decent value with a healthy discount with free finance. ( probably doing more Rec miles than commuting. ) If you wanted to save money and cycle to work, a £150 rig would do the job. But in the 6-7 weeks it takes to sort it out on C2W that saving could have been made in cycle journeys. Rob

I finished putting our Dell (EMC) clarrion back onto service today. nicely redundant. 2 storage processors, twin lan on each, connected to twin edge switches with twin redundant links back to the redundant cores. 4 way mulitipathing on the san. this is for our old dell 2950s running Xenserver. We were relying on 1 Xenserver to host our Exchange , with only local storage. Now we have 2 xenservers reliable shared storage and so the ability for one server to blow up and for us to keep on going. Currently on the old version of xen server so the process is a manual restart on the server on the second hypervisor but it's a big improvement. Need to upgrade the servers to the later Xenserver for High Availability.. Rob

Yikes - Numeric usernames...... We have MiFare cards with Toshiba Pcounter Embeded. The staff should be more worried about what happens after a job is released but does not print due toa machine fault. If the machine is then recovered what happens to that document that's in the local machine queue. Rob
