Thanks for the link but it's for an update from 2014 for Server 2012R2 and I've just checked and the servers here are 2019.

I've checked and they can ping random servers OK (they shouldnt be able to as the command prompt is supposed to be blocked by a group policy)! I've also run dcdiag on the domain controllers and only one DNS error comes up to do with PaperCut so that will need looking at another day. Thanks for that, I'll take a look right now and see what it says I hope this isnt the solution as we have hundreds of computers and it will be pretty much impossible to run on them all. Just to be clear, from the sounds of it, the problem has been around for a few weeks but it's only just been brought to our attention.

Bit of a strange one here, the Group Policies that provide everything from printer settings to stopping the 'little rascals' from accessing the command prompt or the registry editor are simply not working and they can do all sorts of things on the computers that they shouldnt! It's affecting both staff and student computers and causing all sorts of issues. The thing is though, it's not the first School that I'm aware of having this issue - there's another secondary school up the road having the same issue. I'm wondering if theres a windows update or something that has done something to stop them working? I need to get to the bottom of this ASAP before the 'little rascals' start causing havoc and destroying the computers!

calc.exe is blocked already but the Calculator App still runs. If you try and run calc.exe it does not open. I believe the Calculator is a Store app. To prevent cheating in exams, it's one of the requirements like not having access to the internet etc.

I've had a quick look in to Group Policies and I can see where you block the graphing part of the Windows 10 Calculator but I'm looking for a way to stop the calculator running at all - is there a group policy setting I can use to block the calculator from working?

We pushed DNA out via SCCM so I had a look and the GUID was easy to copy and paste from there so the solution I came up with was to run the following command as a logon script distributed via a GPO: msiexec /x {58434888-6ECA-4254-A0FB-B25FB5593F83} /q /norestart

I've just run that command and it has installed it again how have you used this to uninstall it?

I've worked out a WMIC command to easily uninstall NetSupport DNA, however it automatically reboots the machine so now I'm looking for a way to prevent an autorestart. Here's the command I'm running: wmic product where name="NetSupport DNA Client" call uninstall I cheekily added /qn at the end but that just creates an error! Does anyone know of a switch I can put on the end to prevent it auto-restarting?

Our Teaching Staff have decided not to renew the license for NetSupport DNA so we now need to find a quick and easy way to uninstall it from hundreds of computers. I know you can uninstall the software via the NetSupport server software but that requires all computers to be on when the uninstall button is pressed. As we have hundreds of computers with it on I dont want to have to go around them all to power them on (especially during a Pandemic) so I'm looking for a way to script it so I can add the commands to either a logon script or a powershell script I can deploy using SCCM etc. Has anyone got a batch file or powershell script they've used to uninstall NetSupport DNA that they could share please?

Once we'd got hold of the 3 good files the above script worked a treat! Only issue now is that KB5007186 appears to fix the issue, but if the above script has been run then it doesnt work so - has any one re-jigged the above script to put the original files back so that when KB5007186 is applied it works?

Doesn't 4Matrix update itself? Ours does, when you open up it checks for updates and if there are any it downloads them from the server 4Matrix is installed on.

At the BETT Show in January - the idea behind free exams is to get you to attend by offering you free exams if you go there.

Microsoft say if you can, Migrate to a new server with 2019 on it but if you can't (or don't want to) then do an in-place upgrade. The in-place upgrade is no different to upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 for example, pretty much Next, Next, Next, Finish. Only thing to note is that it takes quite a bit longer to do an in-place upgrade than it does to install from scratch so expect it to take at least one hour before it's time to reboot etc.

Just tried that and after using Rufus to make one of the memory sticks bootable via an ISO image from Configuration Manager, it shows up OK on the Boot Menu of the laptops but after selecting the memory stick, instead of booting from it, it just loads the current version of Windows on the laptop. I've tried the memory stick on a different computer and the same thing happens

We purchased a dozen Kingston USB Memory Sticks the other week for use on some laptops that wont PXE boot to our SCCM server. I created Bootable Media on them from the Create Task Sequence Media Wizard within SCCM/MECM which worked perfectly. We needed to use the memory sticks for another task so they were formatted etc. Now, when I try and recreate the Bootable Media using the Create Task Sequence Media Wizard I just get errors! I've tried using DiskPart to Clean them and then tried to create the Bootable Media but that just errors out too! Any ideas?!

Just installing Steinberg Dorico for our Music department and along with the install file they downloaded is some Additional Content: I've asked them what they wanted me to do with it and they said to put it in my cached profile for them all to access! Well that's not happening so I asked then how they used this additional content and not getting much sense from them. Do they need to be saved in a specific location (i.e. in Program Files etc) or to use the files do they simply browse to a location they have been stored on such as a network share?

This may explain an issue one of our users has been having so we'll have to take a look and see if this KB is installed and if the problem is resolved or not on its uninstallation.
