Finally after not having any Classroom Management system for a few years now we've gone and got Impero (again) so having to try and remember how we had it set up (many) years ago! Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the Request Assistance option as it's not something we wish to use? I've tried searching Impero's support page but it's getting confused and thinks I want to Request Assistance when I dont, I want to disable/remove it! Thanks.

It works well for us, it is a PITA though having to put an admin username and password in every time we want to do anything but it also shows the end users that Cyber Security affects us all!

As long as you mention that all computers are monitored etc. in your acceptable use agreement then you should be find and can just refer them to that as at some point either the parents or the child should have agreed to it. If it's not mentioned in you AUP or neither the child or parent has agreed to it as part of any process then that may be a problem.

Sounds like a driver thing to me. Most are made by synaptics so it may be worth trying a driver directly from their website rather than through Windows Updates or the Laptop Manufacturers web site.

Unless I've missed it @mikeprice you've not said what your budget is?

Check the driver in device manager and see if it says WDDM or not, if it does, that may be the issue and instead of the latest driver you may need to roll back to a 'proper' driver that isn't a WDDM one.

Do they have to be Soktober related memes or can they be images you've sent to Colin over the years?! They say a picture is worth a thousand words so over the years we've been a customer of VeryPC, I have sent Colin numerous photos (and one very memorable video that Colin awarded me 'Prank of the Year' for) so here's one I just found: If I remember correctly, I sent this one when Colin was doing his best to get us a great deal on some PCs with a beefy graphics card on a computer suites worth of PCs that were going to be used for video editing!

At least 1GB, by default a lot are only 512MB. We learnt this the hard way when trying to backup some older servers so now we make sure that they all have at least a 1GB system reserved volume/partition. Depending on how old the computer is (i.e. BIOS or EUFI) these are the partition/volume sizes we use and we can now successfully use WSB (via SCDPM actually) to backup: BIOS: it's called System Reserved EUFI: it's called Recovery

What I would do is locate the file location of the virtual hard disk drive and make a copy of it. Add it to the VM as a 2nd drive, power up the VM and remove the drive letter E from the volume of the 1st hard disk, you can then change/add the letter E: to the copied drive and then you can delete the old volume on the first disk and expand it all the way to the moon! You can then tidy up the 2nd volume by removing the duplicate windows volume etc.

Just finished setting up Windows Failover Cluster on Server 2022. I'm using SCVMM to migrate the VMs from our current hypervisors (Hyper-V) to our new Windows Failover Cluster. I have a SAN with 2 volumes configured on it, one is 18TB and the other is 9TB. I've migrated successfully over a dozen of our smaller servers (no more than 200GB) without a problem. Not it's time to move a couple of our large file servers. One of the File Services is about 852GB in size so should happily fit on either of the Cluster Shared Volumes (18TB or 9TB). When I try to migrate the VM to the Cluster it doesn't appear to see the free space on the cluster shared volumes and reports that there is not enough disk space (it looks like it's only looking at the free space on the C: drive). How do I get SCVMM to see the 18TB and 9TB worth of space available so I can successfully migrate our file servers to our shiny Windows Failover Cluster that has 27TB of space but wont see it?! Thanks.

I wasnt sure if I was going to set up a boundary group to a range of IP addresses we can use at our new location or if we were to just create bootable media ISO that has the site of the new SCCM server in it would suffice.

At some point we will be relocating our offices/workshop to the other side of our Academy (the server room is not moving). I'd like to create another SCCM/MECM server to live in the same comms room as the switches we'll be connecting to in our new location so that when we're running task sequences and installing operating system images via PXE booting we wont be hopping all over the network to the other side of the school eating up bandwidth - what's the best way to go about this? Do I just install Configuration Manager on a new server and then distribute the task sequences etc. that we will be using in our new location on it or do I need to configure a secondary configuration server?

Just been checking our notes and I think this is it: Get-VMSnapshot -ComputerName "MyHyperVHost" -VMName "VirtualMachineName" If I remember correctly once you run this at the powershell command line, in Hyper-V the VM then says 'merging' etc. and sorts itself out. We've had to use this when DPM left checkpoints behind that Hyper-V itself wouldnt let us delete/merge but this did the trick. It was a number of years ago since we had to do this and nothing to test it on so you might want to export your VM first so you have a backup in case it doesnt work any more.

We've had that kind of issue plenty of times and there's a powershell command you need to run that tidies up the checkpoints for you after you have merged the disks manually but I cant for the life of me remember what the powershell command is at this time!

Unfortunately that's consumer law and does not apply to businesses/schools/academies. It will be whatever is in your contract/agreement with your particular supplier (or even your suppliers supplier as each company will have it's own timeframe to claim DOA) - it is typically 7, 14 or 30 days for DOA claims to be made and then you're on your own with the manufacturers warranty unless you have a maintenance contract or something with your supplier. As long as you reported it straight away they should send you out another new drive (not a recertified drive) or issue you with a credit note.

Sent it back to who? If it was the supplier then they should have sent you a new one, if you sent it back to the manufacturer under a warranty claim then a recertified drive is fairly normal as they'll see if they can repair your DOA one and then send that one out as a warranty replacement to someone else.

I know the UK Government has banned them in all of their buildings - are you linked in physical way to your LA? Would creating VLANs on your network thus separating out the Hikvision be an option?

Try logging on as the local administrator on the computer and then install the RSAT tools.

Here's how its all connected up on our test bench (once it's all sorted it will be rack mounted properly): Here's a screenshot of the Host Mappings: (THISONE Needs Attention because one of the RAID controllers needs a new battery which I ordered yesterday so that's all that's about ) Like I say, they function correctly and I can access both volumes when they they have just drive letters, but when you add the disks/volumes as CSV (Cluster Shared Volumes) the Failover Cluster takes over the management of the drives and mounts them as a folder on the C: drive and it's this that fails to function when the firewall is on. If you mean monitor a physical port I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that as I've only seen that done on Ethernet and not Fiber?

I read somewhere that the iSCSI protocol is being used but it's not using an iSCSI initiator. The SANs are connected to the Servers via a fiber card. When we created the volumes on the SAN and assigned a LUN to it, the volumes then immediately appeared on the Servers in Disk Management so they could then be formatted and assigned a drive letter. The Disks were then added to the cluster in the Failover Cluster Manager and then configured as a Cluster Shared Volume where it basically mounts the volume to a folder on the C: drive (rather than using a drive letter) and the Failover Cluster Manager then controls the volumes/disks. With the Firewall on, File Explorer just sits there saying Working on it... and the volumes cannot be accessed - it's only when I turn the Firewall off that the 2 volumes appear and are useable: I'm not sure what the Firewall is blocking (either ports or a program (or maybe service)), the Firewall logs are unclear that it's even blocking something relevant and I'm still waiting for Panda/Watchguard to respond further. As it's all gone quiet from Panda/Watchguard and I need to get this Failover Cluster running I'm having to try and work out what's getting blocked myself and with you guys helping!
