  1. I read somewhere that the iSCSI protocol is being used but it's not using an iSCSI initiator. The SANs are connected to the Servers via a fiber card. When we created the volumes on the SAN and assigned a LUN to it, the volumes then immediately appeared on the Servers in Disk Management so they could then be formatted and assigned a drive letter. The Disks were then added to the cluster in the Failover Cluster Manager and then configured as a Cluster Shared Volume where it basically mounts the volume to a folder on the C: drive (rather than using a drive letter) and the Failover Cluster Manager then controls the volumes/disks. With the Firewall on, File Explorer just sits there saying Working on it... and the volumes cannot be accessed - it's only when I turn the Firewall off that the 2 volumes appear and are useable: I'm not sure what the Firewall is blocking (either ports or a program (or maybe service)), the Firewall logs are unclear that it's even blocking something relevant and I'm still waiting for Panda/Watchguard to respond further. As it's all gone quiet from Panda/Watchguard and I need to get this Failover Cluster running I'm having to try and work out what's getting blocked myself and with you guys helping!
  2. I've had a good look through the Dell software and I cant find any reference to any ports The Ethernet ports are purely for management so you're correct. The data from the SANs is via Fiber but I cant find any settings for iSCSI traffic in the Dell software and it's not something I remember configuring during the setup so they'll be on the default settings so I assume this was automatically configured by the OS somehow. Off to investigate how to find out the what IPs iSCSI is using...
  3. Hence why I started this thread asking if anyone knows what I need to unblock! We are Cyber Essentials accredited so turning the firewall off is not viable. I have the ports that the Failover Cluster uses unblocked (just in case) but the Failover Cluster itself works (and always has), it's only the mounted volumes from the SAN that fail when the firewall is enabled, I just need to know what to unblock to get it to work when the firewall is on. I was hoping that someone else uses a SAN that they needed to allow through their firewall and if they could see what ports and/or programs that they unblocked to allow it to work as I cannot find any reference to such settings for a Dell MD3600f SAN.
  4. Hi! I've added the 4 IP addresses of the SANs to be allowed through the Firewall (yes Windows Firewall is off so there is just this one Firewall running). The IP addresses are only for the management ports though so not quite sure if these are used to mount the Volumes on the SANs to the ClusterStorage folder on the root of drive C: but they still dont appear and File Explorer freezes/crashes still.
  5. We're in the process of setting up our first ever Windows Failover Cluster using 2 Dell MD2600f SANs. The volumes are connected OK and appear in Disk Manager as expected and once assigned a drive letter (and formatted to NTFS) they have been successfully added to the Cluster Manager as CSVs (Cluster Shared Volumes) so 'Volume1' and 'Volume2' appear in the C:\ClusterStorage folder (like they should). Then I installed our firewall software (Panda Adaptive Defence 360) and at that point the volumes become inaccessible and if you try to access them, File Explorer just freezes and then crashes. If I turn the FireWall off, then access to the 2 volumes on the SANs is regained and the mounted volumes work normally. I've run all sorts of diagnostic software with Panda/Watchguard support to no avail. There must be some software or a service (or something) that is running to communicate with the mounted SAN volumes that I need to allow through our Firewall - any ideas what I might need to unblock?
  6. Sounds like if you have to restore a server from before this update was applied you will need to turn secure boot off in the EUFI/BIOS to allow the OS to load and then there are a list of commands to follow that update the boot area so you can then turn secure boot boot back on.
  7. At the moment ZERO fiber cables are connected to either the SANs or the server. The Dell PowerVault Modular Disk Storage Manager detects the SAN via the Ethernet Management ports on the SANs.
  8. It's a Qlogic but cant recall the model number. The fiber part may be a bit of a red herring at the moment so I have unplugged all of the Fiber cables. I have however, left in the Ethernet cables plugged in to the management ports on each of the SANs. Again, with just one SAN powered on it gets correctly identified/added to the Dell PowerVault Modular Disk Storage Manager but when both are powered on all the IPs are associated with just one Storage Array. I have made sure both enclosures have a different Enclosure ID as when I found this setting I thought that might have been the issue of them thinking they are all the same unit, sadly this was not the case.
  9. When THISONE is the only SAN powered on the Dell Software detects it when you perform an automatic detection: When THATONE is the only SAN powered on then it is also detected: When I power on both THISONE and THATONE then only THISONE is detected. However I have noticed that if I hover the mouse over THISONE (when both are powered on and the auto detect run) the IP addresses of both of the SANs are listed so it thinks that they are all one unit for some reason.
  10. Your credit card company will do the conversion for you and it will show up on the bill in £ Unless you're going for the $4,999.99 a year for Telephone support etc. then save $399.99 and host it yourself. Have a quick Google and you'll find instructions/guides on how to install it on Linux and even Windows operating systems. It doesnt need much in the way of CPUs and RAM so that's the way I'd go.
  11. The plot thickens - if I completely disconnect all fibre cables from the SANs/Servers then the SANs are still able to be detected by the Dell software (just not both at the same time) as it appears to be scanning the network subnet and finding the management cards on the 2 SANs that way.
  12. If you have replaced the NAS like-for-like then the answer is maybe, if it's a different NAS then the answer is probably not. If you tell us the make and model of the old NAS and the new NAS then that might help get you a definitive answer.
  13. I've never really played around with Fibre before so I'm clearly missing some simple (I hope) so here goes: I've got 2 Dell PowerVault MD3600f SANs (one called THISONE and another called THATONE) along with a Dell R630 server with 2 Fibre cards installed in it. If I connect THISONE to either of the 2 Fibre cards on the server it is detected by the Dell PowerVault Modular Disk Storage Manager software. If I unplug THISONE and connect up THATONE it is also detected by the software on either of the Fibre cards. If I plug both THISONE and THATONE in to the server only one of them gets detected so I cant have THISONE and THATONE connected/detected at the same time. What do I need to do to get them to both be detected at the same time - I'm guessing that as they are both the same unit they have a duplicate setting somewhere that is conflicting but this isnt my area of expertise so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction?!
  14. The link to the FTP site and the password is literally in a link at the top of the page you have posted on! Click the link, read the PDF, go to the site and enter the username and password in the pdf and you will then have access to all available drivers that they have provided. That is all the information Dawn/Dynabook have provided to us.
  15. I'm getting Page not found on GitHub - it looks like all references to EduSweep have been removed/deleted
  16. I hope it's not a Qualcomm CPU as the Surface Pro 9's with that CPU wont PXE boot.
  17. Shame that they're stopping Lilt as I really like that drink. Cant wait to try the new Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit it sounds great!
  18. Stone Computers are worth speaking to, they've done countless schools and 100% know what they're talking about.
  19. My expectations is that it would be plugged in to a UPS using an ICE C14 power connector (rather than a normal plug). It's possible it's also hard wired in to the wall or it may have a 3-pin plug hidden underneath the cabinet. Only way you'll know is to trace the cable coming out of it and see where it goes.
  20. We use a Lenovo USB Ethernet Adapter to PXE boot from the Dynorod Satellite laptops - tried other brands of adapters that claim to be PXE bootable but only had 100% success with the Lenovo ones.
  21. Who have you been logging a ticket with, your ISP or Smoothwall directly?
  22. Not yet: https://github.com/veyon/veyon/issues/865
  23. This is my experience when using such programs, they often can cause more problems that you were trying to solve sadly.
  24. I've been asked to put Adobe Aero (BETA) on our student computers but I cannot see an option for it in the Admin Console: The only way I've been able to install it, is to manually log on to a computer, log in to the Creative Cloud Desktop Application and then run the installer .exe which then downloads and installs the software. I'm hoping there's a way I can install it without having to log in to the Creative Cloud Desktop Application - if you are not already logged in to the CC Desktop App you are prompted to log in when you run the Aero .exe install file so if I push this out via SCCM for example it's not going to work. Has anyone successfully rolled out Adobe Aero automatically using something like SCCM/MECM?
  25. We don't employ Students at our Academies so this is a moot point and does not help people who use Interactive Logon Message and want to use Veyon to log on to a computer remotely.
