Sky have a *feature* that used to redirect any unencrypted DNS traffic to the router/their own servers regardless of client setting *to protect the piracy/Kids* from getting access to things sky blocks. There was an outcry a few years ago about it and if you complained enough sky would disable it on your router with a firmware upgrade but I dont know if its still the case now.

Ahh okay I know why that error may appear but it shouldn’t normally unless. I have an idea of how to work around it so I will knock up a workaround soon. -
[bug/error] EduGeek Hyperlink problems
ZeroHour replied to Chuckster's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
That will happen on any links posted in areas where you have to be logged in to access (aka where guests/google cant go) to prevent leaking of the page you linked from to the 3rd party site by browsers/logs etc. So behind the red door/security forums etc will have that. The links do work for me on FF latest at least, I can possibly think of one thing that may cause a problem but I wouldnt have expected it to cause an issue normally, do you happen to get an error "Redirect Error"? -

I had been eye that up since it was announced but I heard from yanks who got it a month ago it isnt great if you use PPPOE and have a fast connection (aka openreach mostly) as its cpu is pretty weak which I suspect may be down to the chip problems. I would like a Dream Machine Pro but it too has issues with PPPOE if you have FTTP with openreach as it gets pegged by the cpu but they are trying to improve that. I just got a hold of a USW-Lite-POE in both 8 and 16 ports here to try. The unifi interface is nice but damn is it buggy, I keep getting the feeling unifi's software devs are drastically underfunded. The *new* interface is a mess and missing a ton of stuff and the old one couldnt handle me rewiring the positions of my switches so I may have to reset the whole thing.

I presume your using the ssl/tls port rather than 25 to connect? I remember seeing some change for SMTP I *think* coming soon involving changing the defaults of tenants but I cant find it right now. I will have a dig.

[bug/error] Site is pushing to HTTP
ZeroHour replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
We were fairly close then I spotted a major problem with the import and post tags which would have effected thousands of posts. I am testing redirects right now so every link still works. Its a lot lot closer than before and closer than you think Covid with the schools closed didnt help as my partner was a key worker and I was strongly keen to avoid covid as well because of having had pneumonia in the past. I was having to teach the kids and deal with the local school who had no idea how teams worked but yet they had to do everything over it. I know its been a hell of a wait but initially when we didnt go https there were quite a few issues (not certs, I have dealt with them for years) system wise that prevented it and I worked around them for logins and mobile app. As much as all of this seems straight forward there is a lot that goes on in the background with both this existing system and the new system we are moving to that caused delays. I can only apologise for the delays but like I say we are hoping to get past this soon. -
Control the image size on an Edugeek thread
ZeroHour replied to Ditto's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
When you directly upload a file using the photo button if its over a certain size it will automatically create a thumbnail and use that as a link. If you double click the image in the reply editor you can set it to show the image outwith thumbnail size although doing this does not create a new thumbnail size which will mean the whole image is loaded. Externally hosted images can have quirks depending on the server its coming from though, I have not tried to use a google drive hosted image to see how it handles it. -

There is a group policy setting which I think can get around the need for admin. Package Point and print - Approved servers User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Printers > Package Point and Print – Approved Servers.

[2004, 20h2] Installing network printer hangs at "Device Setup In Progress"

Microsoft released: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/july-27-2021-kb5005394-os-build-17763-2091-out-of-band-58863c8f-e514-47cc-b68e-14dbb883777f Its more related to smart card use and printers breaking but I thought it may be worth looking at in case. -
I think the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) is the body who you would complain with but its massively backlogged and I dont know if they would do anything tbh. One thing I would do is try and get them to remove the hard search on your credit file if possible or at least ensure its marked as a closed account as it may affect getting a new lease deal later.

Mine is updating right now and it *appears* its hitting *.akamai.net *.office.com *.akamaiedge.net *.microsoft.com settingsfd-geo.trafficmanager.net Its hitting a varied amount of those subdomains so hard to list them all but the majority of the size is coming from a1737.dspw65.akamai.net I actually use an app called Glasswire to see whats going on with connections and do some logging.

I am having a look at why this may have happened. @Rob_D your profile will be hitting the maximum search results limit which is why its not going earlier I suspect.

[closed] ios app: Edugeek App Android/iOS Notifications
ZeroHour replied to free780's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
No it has been an open issue for a while because of changes apple made to push notifications and the apps server setup. We are hoping to get a replacement app at some point though. -
Our outbound emails keep going to junk folders
ZeroHour replied to enjay's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Who is your mail sent through and how? SPF and DomainKey setup fully? Volume of email sent per day can be a factor but I would be surprised if it was affecting you. If you send from your own in-house smtp/server then it can be factor with ip reputation but through a third party it can be avoided to a point. -
Search indexing because the PC is idle?

It should be fixed now.

I have rebooted that server to fix it, should hopefully be back in 5.

It *sounds* like a false positive, doing upgrades I tend to remove AV then upgrade and reinstall. I presume the version of McAfee is 2019 compatible? I would maybe see what you get from a sfc /scannow.

Its coming v soon.
