I would maybe add a www.{school}.kent.sch.uk record that matches what is public as an A or cname.

Does your internal DNS server have a zone for your school of {school}.kent.sch.uk? When you try to call the site up internally it will use that zone for the dns records rather than your external nameserver host and point to different resources.

There is also a bug with Network 7.4.156 which prevents you using 5GHz channels higher than 140, when I reported it they thought it was to do with RF compliance but now it may just be a bug. If you have an AP using a higher channel and try to change settings in network you will get a generic error until you change to 140 or less.

What firmware are you on? I dont know if your Cloud Key gen has this but there is an option in Network called "Direct Remote Connection" and that opens port 443 instead of it being proxied and I am aware some ISP's block 80/443 to prevent people hosting their own server.

Yeah normally when it gets seen the NVR would update the firmware directly although it can take a while to start, or at least the UDM can take a bit.

Have to remove hikvision from network - any alternatives?
ZeroHour replied to pooley's topic in Physical Security
I have a UDM-SE with a couple of cameras on it, the Network app lets me specify a custom server instead of their cloud server to send notifications but I dont know if that affects the protect app. It *should* be a console setting rather than app setting but UI keep changing things and forgetting to move things. -
Basically I think its this: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-it-pro-blog/get-ready-for-the-first-uup-on-premises-updates-coming-in-march/ba-p/3738461 Its an initial large update which reduces following updates.

No problem, so you have user X who gets this problem and it reoccurs after resetting the profile a few weeks later, does the same thing happen with your test account/profile after a few weeks? Its just to try and figure out if its something that happens in the normal termly cycle of a school that causes the error which is why it reoccurs a few weeks later or if its something in the driver that glitches out due to say AV or other factor.

I have been waiting for a date for this for a while. TV+ has had some good stuff.

Reading the docs it appears this option will only work if you have registered for MFA/Authenticator right now. Its disabled by default on o365 right now as its in preview. It seems strange to have to have the Authenticator app to use it but its probably because its in beta. I do expect MS to eventually remove SMS auth (or charge a fee for it) as its costly and not very secure, once this is rolled out I would hope you issue a Temporary Pass to the new user, they install outlook and use the Temp pass to link it and auth in for the first time and then after that they are good to go. If they user doesnt want outlook they can use the standard authenticator app as an MFA auth. Not having to install an extra app is good kinda like how its working with Google Auth right now. If you have a static IP and Conditional Access you could not require MFA when signing in at school.

504 error in the Cool Things thread
ZeroHour replied to Andrew_C's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
@Andrew_C Does the thread work now? -
That's going to happen a lot with Windows users given Onedrive likes to sync peoples my docs. My onedrive is nearly full now to think of it.

I would like to thank Linda for all her time and help with EduGeek and the hobnobs! Her contribution and work on EduGeek has been immeasurable and that's before we get to her helping keep things running smoothly on the stand at BETT. Its going to be a struggle to cover all you did! I really hope we will all be able to meet up when we are in the vicinity again and I really enjoyed your travels to my neck of the woods last year and I cant wait to see all the forthcoming photos of your adventures!

504 error in the Cool Things thread
ZeroHour replied to Andrew_C's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
@Andrew_C can you try now, I think I have found a workaround but not the cause yet. -
I personally use Windows Hello with a depth cam and yubikey, it works well enough but I find the dialogue that needs to appear very temperamental, if the app is not the active on on the screen when you are needing to auth then auth fails and some apps dont handle it well. Works well enough in the browser though with the yubikey.

504 error in the Cool Things thread
ZeroHour replied to Andrew_C's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
Its so frustrating, I have been trying to figure out why its only happening with your account, I have set the same groups etc as your account on a different account and it was fine. I do hope to find the cause soon. -
She doesnt happen to use an old version of Outlook? It used to use IE as the mail renderer if I recall but that was a while ago. I am sure there was a way to disable it as well in GP. Another thing, it may be worth doing a malwarebytes free scan just in case.

The mailer got an error for your email address and to prevent it hitting lots of blocks and bounces it stops mailing till cleared. I have cleared it and you should be able to see the error on the page in the notice. It will try sending a notification with this reply and I will see if it reoccurs.
