  2. Even though I posted something I thought might work earlier in the thread (nearly a year ago :S) I had forgotten, however found this on the web Question - Post 5 of 5 Try this. If I remember this right: It should allow anyone who logs in from the keyboard (interactive user)to load a thumb drive. Run secpol.msc Security Settings Security Options Devices: Allowed to format and eject removable media == Administrators and interactive users Posted: 10/04/2007 @ 01:40 PM (PDT) Chris910 60 Job Role: Technical/PC Support Location: Arroyo Grande, California Member since: 02/28/2001 from http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=101&threadID=228375&messageID=2332042 this is also how to DISable them, but might be reversed? http://www.petri.co.il/forums/archive/index.php/t-2847.html fooby
  3. Hi Ross, thats to do with the macro security and such as far as I know, if you add the access ADM file to the group policy object you can set it to allow all (low security settings) for macro's and it should be ok. fooby
  4. Sometimes the SRP takes more than one logoff / logon to apply. Try restarting the PC and logon as a student. If not, logoff, logon as admin, start run, gpupdate /force, reboot, logon as student and test, or reboot again and test. group policies can take a while to make sure they are applied. also check the event logs often for errors reported, such as SRP could not apply etc. fooby p.s blocked exe's are also recorded in the event log so u can see if it works.
  5. One way - Hold alt, press enter. Registry way to enable http://www.theeldergeek.com/tool_tip_displays.htm http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/regentry/93787.mspx?mfr=true fooby
  6. Yes indeedy. Software Restriction Policies blocks executing of executables, not any sort of file accessing. We have this set up here, so students can open any of their work files from usb ipod etc but not run any flash games and stuff like that. If you need more help, it took me ages so i can help with this more. fooby
  7. markwilliamson2001 The settings I have displayed to 100% exactly that. It is what is set here in my college. USB drives and SD XD etc cards read, however no one can execute anything from them. fooby
  8. Dont be silly. See my attachment. You can set different drives as permanantly disallowed. fooby
  9. Remind them that implementing email is not, 1. Double Click Setup.exe 2. Next 3. Agree (Fully read of course ) 4. Next 5. Next 5. Email! But a whole lot more planning and implementing. Capacity Planning for servers, backups for this, including storage space and a server to handle this, tapes? disks?, then the number of users per server, disk space and speed needed... all tie'ing in with which server OS you use as to what specs it needs for that. We use Exchange 2003 btw. fooby
  10. ... but in any case, it is 100% possible to get photos out.
  11. 1. Reports 2. Run 3. Focus 4. Staff 5. Staff Photo List 6. Run If the report does not exist, try importing the attachement I exported from here. fooby
  12. They could try 1. Right click 2. Properties Two steps instead of one? Just a thought. fooby

    Print Management

There is a free option.... ... Tell the students not to print rubbish so much? Do not allow unsupervised room access? We dont use any print management but have shouty teachers. Also saves the inevitable "couldn't print my homework as I have no credits" fooby
  14. If the cells are correctly formatted as Time, then m2d2 is correct in that you can use more conventional formula of =cell-othercell and such. fooby
  15. Yeah we have done similar here, the teachers register every single lesson on sims and the afternoon registration isnt with a tutor, its the period 4 lesson register that is the PM legal register. However the management here is such that there is a 'naughty list' of name / shame of people not doing the registers. that seems to work here fooby
  16. Why do they need it? Is it for the registers? If so, get the leadership / head to remind them that it is a LEGAL requirement (therefore not your problem whatsoever) fooby
  17. o m g that is lazy (of the teachers) even so, i think that is possible with some vbs. or schtasks.exe to make a scheduled task.
  18. Have you made sure "Integrated Windows Authentication" is enabled for your OWA? Its in IIS Manager.
  19. Opera Speed Dial v.good
  20. Why dont you allow the unfiltered access? The swgfl (RM) allows this, so I assume all RM provided connections do? Much easier. fooby
  21. I wrote a vb6 app that allows you to change passwords. If there is no other way then let me know and I can add it for download. fooby
  22. Simple answer is probably no. Opera mobile is a pretty good competitor also. fooby
  23. http://www.etn.fm - all day long
  24. If we had the money...... Just bought 70 systems, we haven't got that much more at the mo. ebay? fooby
  25. £8000 is about 50 computers (including tft's). Thats what my Line manager is always saying, anything that we buy is translated to numbers of machines, so when someone wants a laptop / tablet we then tell them thats 3 or so computers that you are taking away from the students. We dont buy laptops ever the laptops for teachers scheme was good enough. fooby
