There are many schools who have great service too. They just don’t shout about it. That is the same across the board, generally. Have you considered that they may have been sold a filtering solution on the understanding that it can handle the amount of traffic they’re dealing with, but then been let down when it actually comes to it, so are forced to implement a new solution? Nobody knows whether this is actually the case but its entirely possible. There’s no evidence to suggest that SchoolsBroadband are putting their profits first and service quality second so I do feel its unfair to imply such.

That’s very unfortunate. I guess we’ve been lucky. Hopefully whatever changes are happening improve it for your school.

I don’t believe underinvestment is the issue here. It would appear, while not confirmed, that SB have invested heavily in products that now aren’t meeting the needs anymore so are reinvesting in alternative solutions. A company determined not to invest wouldn’t be implementing a new filtering platform and running two at once. Right? Nor would they be buying more links to increase capacity.

I think you need to be more specific. SIMS/SchoolPod is an MIS whereas FMS is an accounting package. Where is the reconciliation file being downloaded from?

There are cloud based tools that will do this, but, for that volume it won’t be cheap at all. Does 1000 include students? Might be best to start a fresh with them and allow access to the old system for a period.

Yes you can create accounts and place users from your AD within those accounts. Create your departments as accounts and put the relevant users as members. Doesn’t take too long.
