We bought service from RM who used Talk Talk to provide the connectivity it was a much faster and stable connection than we ever got from the LEA that's not to say we never had any problems but they were few and far between. Ben

We had redcat access ones and whilst they didn't get used that was because no-one really needed them the sound they produce is good. Ben

At the other end pick one pin which is definately a ground or use the shielding and hook up the neg of a battery or psu to that and the hook the positive up to the pin which is the horizontal say. Now at the other hook up and led or bulb to the ground/shield and start poking at the other wires until it lights up, repeat for the vertical. Ben

Still seems overkill if you have one calendar you can have multiple appointments happening at the same time and it's easy to see you can't pick the same person as they are allready booked. Or even something like MRBS each person is effectively a "room" that can be booked or any other resource booking system. Ben

To setup embedded yourself you just install xp pro on the machine and then run the xp embedded component designer app to set it up. I would try and get the files that run the app off the machine and test it to see if you can get it to work on a more modern os 7 etc... first if it does stick that on the kiosk or on a new one. Whilst I appreciate you are trying to save them some money they will have to upgrade in the future and any additional time you put in to it to save xp is just a time and money sink. Ben

What we are saying is that you should install Win 7 at least due to the fact that XP is now out of maintenance with MS. Ben

To be honest I wouldn't use smartwater in order to put on a visible mark rather I would use it as it's intended i.e to make it hard to remove all traces if an item with smartwater is recovered the forensic process is gone through to identify the owner of that item, I find it strange that the LEA has a specific method of marking they want you to use although rather than just using an indelible marker the solutions like selctamark actually embed the details in to the surface of the item and they have different formulations for different materials.
