Ultra strange - usually whenever a user says my files are gone and they didn't delete them it ends up that they did delete them. These files are they shared with a lot of people? Mind you the way you've lost 15,000 files I would be looking at are there any automated systems you have linked in that could be doing it or extensions or software that that user has access too? I read some of the permissions summaries on the play store for many apps and I shake my head in disbelief.

The full version of Acrobat on a couple of PCs is all you need. I do heads Pa, business manager, finance officer, data manager. Whatever you do don't use those pdf conversion website or your basically giving away the data in every document you convert which could result in a data breech depending on how much personal info is in the documents.

Hi how did you set this up? We literally have big red button on the paxton system for lock down and have desperately ben trying to get netsupoort and paxton to talk with no luck so far

I think the messaging part depends entirely on the event. It's pretty hard to know what the best thing to do is but you can not keep any event secret as the kids are texting literally 10 seconds into a lockdown so your better off being honest about it. If it's something that happened in the local area and everything is ok jut precautionary lockdown then I would inform parents. If machetti man is literally on premisies then you've got much more important things to be doing than worrying about communicating with parents. What does your LA policy/guidance say? One thing for sure its all a bit worrying - a school not far away just had a knife attack and 2 other local schools fake bomb threats. And that's just this week!

Just that they are Mediatek not AMD or Intel and thus have strayed into uncharted territory I suppose (as opposed to proven manufacturers). No actual significant reason other than that i.e they didn't say we have xx percent failure rate or any other firm evidence. I guess it's just an opinion. I'll think on it today. Basically I've had 3 quotes and out of the blue one of the sellers told me that they've been warned off the gen 4 by their suppliers and recommended Gen 2 instead (I've got a lot of Gen 2 and are happy with them). If I am gonna go "old" i would prefer gen3.

Anyone running the Gen 4 in anger yet? They have mediatek cpu not AMD or Intel so I am going hmmmm. Have been very happy with our Gen 2 and Gen 3 100e's so was gonna stick with Lenovo Cheers

Yep we had a whole town power cut last week. It's funny how despite thinking about the scenario, when it happens you realise how much you rely on it all. I have the phone system in the server room which is UPS powered so the phone system stayed up. I have my own office on UPS so that I can make phone calls or sent texts/emails/edit website social media and twitter. However - the power cut took out the local BT exchange due to a technical issue there so we had no internet or external phones anyway and neither did anyone else in the area. We could keep internal phones up and running but it would be costly as you'd have to fit a UPS to every rack to keep the POE switches up and running. This would be useful a a side benefit would be wireless and CCTV would also stay online. We had to resort to me hot spotting to a 4g phone to send texts out to parents and staff. There's room for improvement in all areas but sadly it all comes down to money.

I understand that scenario - only thing I would say is that the move is something that's coming anyway and being funded anyway - your current pupils that are with you right now deserve the best you can deliver right now, rather than possibly being disadvantaged (overly strong word) just to hopefully save some money from some arbitrary budget somewhere at some stage. The X million your school turns over yearly should be spent in that financial year on staff and pupils every single penny of it?

But don't worry the classcharts data breech wasn't a data breech according to classcharts so the ICO won't investigate or take any remedial action.

I think buying extended licences just to postpone the inevitable is burying your head in the sand. Your pupils deserve to have access to modern equipment and software.
