I set up Microsoft RDS initially only for SIMs, now we use it for everything possible after taking Licensing into considerations. Works very well, few staff complain about it not playing well with pdf but works perfectly fine for 90% of the staff.

Hey Mark, Our headteacher paid for 5 years and we only used it to report to parents. We are now out of contract and moving to FireFly. If we had the SLG hosted onsite I would have asked for us to keep using it so we can do much more. 1 example being absence leave forms, having custom queries running from sims and checking how much time one had left, checking whether they were a support staff or teaching and then having a form to fill out which would go into SIMs and also to the relevant persons. An example that i couldn't make work as we were hosted. Muks

We do everything Marshall_IT said, plus the following: Staff & Student Timetables linked into Exchange Calendars SIMS Diary into a shared calendar for all staff to see Email Distribution for the following: Subjects Classes Form Groups Year Groups *now doing reachers of x student* The greatest thing i love about Salamander is there 100% support from them. Its not a product you buy and expect to be configuring it yourself. Give them a call and within a few days if not the same day your request will be actioned. For a school who uses SIMs Partnership Exchange, Salamander AD is a godsend for creating students accounts who are Guests within SIMs and always floating.

Have you tried using superscan? Worked great for me when i took over and the chaps had static IPs with no documentation [emoji20]

Hey Sam, We had this issue last time, turned out that google changed some stuff and had to get lightspeed to check it out. The tech called them up and he had to create a new pac file i believe but i could be wrong.

A little bit late to the thread but we have 1 x ProCurve 5412Rzl chassis switch, with 2 management modules, 4 power supply's but only really requires 2 to power and stay on. We have 6 x 8port 10GBase-T v2 zl Module, 2 x 8p 10GbE SFP+ v2 zl Module and one each of 24p Gig-T v2 zl Module and 24p SFP v2 zl Module. We use Hp ProCurve 2920-48G-POE+ and Cisco WS-C3560G-48TS as our access switches.

Yup, they do, we have the data and logs folder on one drive. have had no issues with capita support.

Its worth noting that when doing the Migration, if you are planning to rebuild the server and reinstall everything, then separate the SQL Logs and Data Folder onto a RAID 10 Array.

I second Ruddj's comment, My predecessor set up a superscope and when i redid the network design and changed it all to a normal scope, worked perfectly fine.

how big is your database? i do full hourly backups for our sims database. It is 9gig, gets done in about 4 mins.

this happened to me where the personnel officer never set the role of the person. So role would be teacher from whatever date you wanted it to be.
