Not a new share. It is the users home folder basically, we don't have roaming or mand profiles. Everyone with full access to the users folder and then modify access for said student. If i give myself the domain admin permissions i can then save to the folder but not with the domain admin permission.

Hi Guys, Is anyone having an issue whereby noone except a domain admin can save to a Network Share? Absolutely doing my nut in! Both Office 2010, 2013 and 2016. Any help whatsoever is much appreciated. Thanks Mukesh

We don't have veeam doing the replication, too much data. So wanted to take advantage of storage spaces to be able to keep the current nas's for file storage which is not always accessed and then use the SSD storage for server access all from a single virtual drive so to speak. Will give it a try - like to be a hero and test stuff out even if it has no benefit

Have you had a look at storage spaces for the NAS's? Just asking as your setup is same as ours except ours are Netgear NAS's which we will be replaced with the QNAP + SSD variant like yours.

our 4 schools have been dodgy since last week with spates of outtage on weekends and evenings after 5 which we thought were just maintenance.

Yes but point is they are serving hundreds of schools and should have procedures in place for this. Obviously not everything goes to plan in an ideal world but this was more than a simple issue of one unit going bust.

What is your current assignment? /24?? Are you with LGFL? If so you need to request it. Most likely they will say no. But as long as you have a use case for it, they shouldnt deny

Hi zzyzxuk, Dont worry, you/they are not alone. The product doesn't work how its meant to work - mainly because data takes so long to transfer causing syncing issues. We use it because it allows us to do attendance for students who we teach but are based elsewhere. otherwise we would not, simple as. Backup exec is a pain at times! But it keeps me on my toes - to be fair it has worked for me when I've needed to restore. Did a full site restore onto new servers in a separate building and it was successful.

I upgraded up to 16 and majority of my issues have now gone! Only issue i have with sql is that it doesn't like an offline db but still backups properly. For the Veeam guys, we are also looking into this but do you do with physicals.

We are with LGFL and opened up file sharing ports between the two schools for the specific VM which was set up for sharing of data across our Sixth Forms. We provided the passwords to login, etc. Works well.

One of the schools we may take over help use rm, the support there who are a nice bunch have known nothing other than RM. they complain of limitations sometimes but hey doesnt everything sometimes cause problems for you. It is usually doing a use case scenario and deciding on something with clear objectives. There are many arguments for and against for both. I would always prefer vanilla but thats just me.

Truly cashless here for past 5 years. Parents who dont have a bank card use money to topup at a paypoint - this is the only thing that now affects us. Once a year on xmas we allow students to give Finance the set money for a Xmas Dinner, mainly for the packed lunch students
