Thanks this looks the way to go! it's definitely not in the EWP config editor! I will see how it goes - definitely do not want to do a cut and paste or move with exam docs -
Moving student files using EWP Config editor

Hello We are using Exam write pad and the network tech before me set this up so that the student saves to a network share while in the exam but when they finish the exam their paper moves from that share to an archive. (basically from the folder "examuser1" to "Archive" fold both in the same folder.) This way the students work is moved from the computer and the next one that logs on does not see previous exam papers. It was deleted whatever he did before he left and I have been asked to recreate it! I was told he did this in the EWP config Editor but I can not find the settings - can you advise? Is this possible or was it created with a logoff script to move the docs from one folder to another? -

Hi Has anyone else suffered this problem - on networked machines all working fine then a member of staff logs on does some work in office and tried to print and they get the message "No Printers installed :(" with the sad face! Have tried many solutions office repair, removing office, reinstalling office, But the only thing that seems to cure it is a re-image which is a bit of an extreme for a missing printer issue! (also scanned using Sophos to ensure its not a virus etc . .) We have a print server where all printers are installed that are shared out using classlink (11) running on server 2012 and we use a virtual print queue in paper cut. All machines are windows 7. Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Not sure if any has had any experience of this. If I individually install Remote learning onto a PC then I can choose for it to have a room location. If i send the install out for the Server all computers are put into the Room EVAL - While this is not a problem for Staff in the classroom the Tech Console then had no structure to it. I have tried modifing the Client setting with no luck and to try and change this on the tech Console I am unable to find where It is. Does any one know how to change the Location of the PC once it has been installed or during a server install. (I dont want to go round to 500 machines and do it manually!!!) Ta in advance

No messages on server or on individual clients - the fix we have found so far is to log off shut down the client and re-start from scratch but not ideal when you just want to get on an finish your work. So seems a reset works but impractical in the work place to do after every user

We are having a problem where our profiles set for staff/student are not loading properly, We have two issues where student are not getting there profiles loaded they dont get their documents and they do not get desktop icons and so are forced to log on and then log off again the second issue is staff are logging on and are NOT get the temp profile saying they couldn't get the full profile. The majority of the time they are recieving the start menu's, backgrounds and icons and mapped home folders. We use alot of group policy to share out settings but we have installed paper cut and a central print system and have found that the printers some times appear and some times dont - some staff can print and some do not have a printer when they try to select it. They seem to have loaded partial profiles but are not aware until they have been working for some time then are stuck to finish the jobs they are doing! Its getting alot of complaints and with 130 staff my ears are hurting! any one had similar of got any suggestions?

Here I am again finding yet more issues of Apple in an education enviroment! Dont get me wrong iPads are great - i have seen many adverts where they make very good chopping boards! all jokes a side i can see that Tablets whether is be apple or other wise is the future atleast my 2 year old believes so! So currently running 15 iPads in a school net work enviroment and using Apple Configurator to manage these so that we can add apps and that set restrictions in one hit and not burdon the small team i work with doing it manually on every iPad. The results it works ok! there were a few after configuration controls like re-setting the restrictions code and unfortunutly the apple passcode can not be disabled but with all that in mind it was easy after setup and it worked or did! . . . We had hurd rumors that ios6 had problems with this offical apple product so kept the iPads on the old ios5 it was not a problem until the little darlings decided to update the ios themselves! Now we have no ability to centraly add apps so are stuck manually doing thus as the rumors were correct! ITs a known problem with apple apparently and yet there is not a date for a release of a newer version of the apple configurator! We have tried downgrading to IOS5 but apparently this is not possible not even for an apple engineer! so we are stuck! Any one else running in to errors with management of iPads? or what do you use and is it cost effective?

we are at a similar stage we have currently bought a Raspberry Pi and the head of computer studies is currently working on what he can do and if we plan to by a set of 10 of them to rule out a similar group - will keep you posted on where we go!

we had similar! we moved the inks over and tried to soak up as much as we can do with j-clothes! but although we improved the problem after being covered in ink like it sounds like your are a few times we chose to ditch the printer! - Good luck

Hi not sure i can help much as we only looked at ruckus - found it to be quite a good system but we went with Meru in the end bought throu viglen - Found it to work almost out the box bit tricky setting it up with the radious server but did the admin course and have not needed to do any work on it in two years and with 44APs only had one fail that was in the sports hall so prob a football didnt help! But for signing in 30 deviced hitting one AP all at one time it has been very stable. Ruckus when we looked seemed to have a similar system. I do not have any knowledge of Meraki. Good luck choosing

NETMANs 1st Blog Apple iPads and moving to the dark side!
Animated_Trouble posted a blog entry in Animated_Trouble's Blog
Welcome to Animated Trouble's 1st blog I'm the network manager in a school in hertfordshire and have been for 6 years - Now moving into the iPad area requested by teachers is a challenge in themselves! just how do you add in a piece of technology designed for single user to a windows network! When in a meeting with apple the IT team explained how we could use VDI to make use of current programs and networks to make use of Window and Apple and move forward - the response from apple baffled us! "but why would you want to do that to an iPad?" Obviously apple have the money to throw out a working network and put in a different system! Unlike the uk education system! Well the school moved forward and entered more of the dark side currently we are running 15 of the evil apple devices!
