I've installed it now, but getting errors when trying to update clients... The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the Internet of firewall settings may be incorrect. Please try again later. Error Code: U41M1C213 But then I can't be 100% sure I've configured IIS correctly... If anyone's got any ideas, I'd be keen to hear them...

I'm no expert when it comes to IIS, I have several sites set up and running, but none have needed the same configuration as the Adobe Update Server seems to... I'm just using IIS 7.0, and have the files downloading at the moment, but following the instructions, it says "Add module mapping for XML, crl, zip, dmg and sig extensions, and gives an example of XML, but not for the others - how do you know how to configure the others? If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be extremely grateful!

I don't ask questions like why when I can see the point - again, for some users, not all... The staff that have them used their laptops, I would imagine, for email, Office software, internet, planning & finding resources etc. both at home and in school - all of which they can do on their iPads, though the Apps aren't official Microsoft Office, they're quite compatible...

No where does it say that "we need a laptop for the job" we've got hundreds of PCs, staff can simply use those instead... but that's not really that handy, because there isn't always access to a PC... so let's get laptops... they work well, but they're big and bulky, the batteries aren't that good, they over heat, you can't really use them on your lap, so need to be sat at a desk really... so compromise - do the stuff you need to use a PC for on a desktop, and do everything else that you can do on the move on an iPad...

I knew I'd regret piping up! lol... It was a trial at the end of the day, the only way to really know how effective they can be is to get one and use it. Laptops are being handed back in, which means we can use those for other members of staff rather than buying them new ones... If they currently use a desktop and a laptop, but can successfully manage the transition, doing all the work that needs PC Software e.g. ActivStudio etc. on the desktop, leaving all the other stuff to the iPads when they're around the school - emails, document creation etc. then it works quite nicely... Also, if they're in meetings, if they need to display information, rather than waiting to boot up the laptop, log on, open the software... they can just power on the iPad, pop a PIN in, and away you go... It's really not a solution for all teachers, and I can't see it being until you can do everything that you can do on a PC on them, but definitely for some staff - SLT / Heads Of Year etc. where they need access to information quickly and easily, the iPad solution is proving to be a huge success.

That's my school (we've not got 10 btw) I've not read all the replies here yet, and I'm about as far from an Apple fan as you can get, but I fully support the use of iPads in schools, by those who understand their limitations... The staff that have them were chosen because we knew they'd use them properly, and all do, and all love them. Most have given up using their laptops, but still rely heavily on desktops... The limitations are too significant to be a replacement for all, but given the choice and an understanding of the limitations, I'm sure most would opt for the iPad... So long as they've got access to a PC as well - at home and at work (permanent classroom/office etc.)

Sounds good to me, slightly further to travel than the 4 minutes to Woodlands, but well worth it!

Other fields - Location's already been mentioned, that would be good... Possibly also - age & condition... maybe...

Works for me... It would be good if, as well as being able to enter the manufacturer manually, we could click a button for a list of pre-defined manufacturers, so we'd only need to enter them for obscure things... HTC Desire (Android 2.2)

Thanks for doing the Webcast, I watched it and learnt from it... I think it would have been good directed at headteachers & management teams as well as network managers & technicians... I'd heard that there was a new MS Schools solution in the pipeline, and that explained a lot, I was straight on to my MS Reseller for info! Thanks again! Rick

Don't think this has been mentioned here, so thought I'd post it in case others are interested... Netsweeper blocking the EduGeek ads has been bugging me since it was implemented, but have finally decided to look at the page source... If you want to enable them, add the following URL to the Allowed URLs: http://collective-media.net I have an ad blocker for all other sites, but like to support this one when I can...

I discovered this solution elsewhere, but it works perfectly, and well worth implementing! Took a while to trawl through initially and get all the various devices added to the list, then it's just a case of checking every so often as they bring in new devices... Dead simple, ideal solution!

Hi All! Does anyone know whether it's possible to set the Out Of Office to activate based on the Calendar entries rather than just setting it On/Off or manually scheduling it each time? I use my calendar for all my meetings etc. and would love it to activate automatically when I'm out of the office or off-site etc. Thanks in advance, Rick

I'm having this exact same problem... All of a sudden, two of the machines in an IT Suite started configuring office when loading. Office 2007 was installed as well as 2003, so we removed 2003. No joy... Uninstalled Office 2007, now it won't let me reinstall it. I've tried all sorts, removing Office 2007 via RevoUninstaller, Microsoft Windows Installer Removal tool thing, been Googling for ages... There are no errors in the event logs, but the only suspiscious looking entries show that the Office removal was successful, even after I've just tried installing it. I've tried reinstalling from 2 different locations... If anyone can suggest anything to try to resolve this I would be keen to hear... If not we'll have to resort to re-imaging, but it'd be good to have a solution in case it crops up again...

I'll be setting: Years 7-8 = 250MB Year 9 = 350MB Years 10-11 = 500MB I'll leave the staff unrestricted for now - though I've had a word with the biggest offenders 15GB was the largest...

I've not set quotas since Server 2003, and not really looked into them on Server 2008 yet, is that reporting feature listing large/duplicate files etc. a built-in option or do you have a different solution in place?

Our backup amount has just topped 870GB (950 pupils, 50 staff), and is proving to be a bit of a pain, so I'm looking at introducing Quotas for Staff & Students. Just wondering what other schools use as limits as a guide before I speak to the powers-that-be here...

I need to disable add-ons for all users, to remove toolbars etc. but I want to keep the add-ons for JavaScript, Flash etc. I know how to do this - adding the Class ID in the GPO, but there seem to be countless different IDs. Does anyone know of anywhere with a list of the IDs or way of enabling from specific publishers?

I asked my supplier at Ramesys about this a while ago, and was told that so long as the license sticker is moved to the new PC, then the license is valid and can be transferred.

Just wondering whether anyone's got a serial number for this lying around in the archives... We've got one old Quora board that will only work with this software, and Promethean are unable to help.
