There's another thread on here somewhere with all the instructions / GPO info needed to disable the various features that need to be removed... can't find it at the mo, but it's fairly recent... Worth checking out...

Depends how you interpret that... so long as pupils know to enter it at the top or bottom of each page before printing it should be fine - exam boards can't tell whether it's actually entered in the software as a Header/Footer... I read it as though it must appear on each page as a header/footer, so doesn't state that it has to be set that way in the software...

Just got the boss a new laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E320, whacked Win 7 Pro on as a clean installation as usual, though Win 7 didn't pick up a lot of the drivers automatically, so I had to download them, which was fine... However, when I reboot, the Wireless Driver seems to change / fail, still shows as "Intel® WiFi Link 1000BGN" in Device Manager, but shows with an Exclamation Mark... I've tried reinstalling the driver, but after a reboot it happens again... If anyone can suggest a fix for this, I'd be extremely keen to try it!

Hmmm... it's interesting you say that, I was asked to look if a pupil had deleted work, so I checked Impero, nothing deleted... if it's not logging it, that could explain a lot! Maybe it's just not detecting deletions from mapped drives, have you checked whether it detects them from local drives? I'll try later too if I get chance...

If the abuse is happening on the official page that you control - You can specify words which cause posts to be automatically flagged as spam - doesn't delete them, but hides them from public view and you can see see who's saying what, then take the appropriate action...

We've used Ricoh directly for one of ours, and will never do so again... we couldn't get in touch with anyone re. a problem - missing item on delivery, it took months to resolve, despite withholding payment... Never again.

We've had one for a while now and we do get quite a bit of interaction on it... I don't post clear photos of the pupils, but do post general images or ones in which you can't identify pupils... We use Facebook as well as Twitter as an extra method of communication with the pupils and parents, have have had several parents and pupils posting on the wall asking legitimate questions... Obviously there will always be those who abuse it, but the built in filters do quite a good job, and if people abuse it persistently you can always block them... The reason I pushed for it initially was so we could have an official presence on there, rather than unofficial pages we couldn't control... Both Facebook and Twitter have been 100% positive so far.

Hi All! We've currently got a stock book in a spreadsheet which we update manually, but it's not great, and far from efficient... Does anyone know if there's a suitable mobile/tablet app out there that does inventry tracking suitable for schools? I've looked at a few, but none that I've seen so far seem to cover everything we need... I'd be keen to hear how it's done in other schools :¬)

We've been using Impero for just over a year now, and I love it, it's filled so many needs, including filtering, though we do have County filtering, and a local ISA server, Impero is just far more powerful... I know you've been impressed with it already, but if you want to ask anything about it from an unbiased source, feel free to get in touch, I'd be happy to sing its praises!

This is something I've been after a solution for for a while... I was hoping there was a way to control the OoO message via entries or keywords in the Outlook Calendar (then your staff could just set a recurring appointment for their days off)... not found anything yet, but not giving up either!

+1 for Spotify Premium, well worth it, far nicer than iTunes, and it updates automatically so you're not forced to download & update yourself!

I've used ResSwitch in the past when some required a strange resolution, then just added a bat file to the startup on those machines with the following: C:\ResSwitch.exe 1366 768 32 0 (I'd already copied the exe to the PCs but it can probably run from a server...)

Hi! I've just set up Lync, and have it running with a few users before deploying it for all the staff... I'm really impressed with it so far, but annoyed that I have to search for staff manually before I can add them/chat with them... Does anyone know if it's possible to automatically show all users or a group / predefined list of users? Even if it only showed all online users it would be infinitely better...

I'd second Impero... We've had to do similar things here for exams / courses, and that's a great way of getting it done quickly... (though it's not free, it has other impressive benefits)

Can't remember what brand they are tbh, and I know there was no way of deploying the software, so it had to be installed manually... but wasn't really much of a problem, and never had a problem with them since...

Do you have anywhere to store them hung up, allowing the wires to dangle individually and not get tangled? That's the way we've done it in one suite... As most of the tangling happened when stored in boxes...

We set all pupils Home Drives to the U Drive, then redirect the Documents folder to U:\ Never had any problems doing it that way, so never thought about doing it any differently :¬)

We got a couple of fairly low spec models through the Tesco Computer Vouchers last year for the Maths Department - they loved them, and bought other cheap models for the rest of the department...
