  1. Same here, at home on Plusnet Connected into work and the ISA server gives this: 64 - Host not available Internet Security and Acceleration Server -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Information (for support personnel) Background: The gateway has lost the connection with the Web site you are trying to access.
  2. Do you have any colour photocopiers that can be networked? Could save you having to buy additional kit. I'm sure we have a GT-15000 here, had no complaints. It was expensive to buy, I got it a while ago when I was given a fairly large sum of money to spend on kit without time to consult staff or plan a wise spend................
  3. Quality, gave me a good chuckle!
  4. It's going to be fun watching them refloat it!!
  5. I'm getting old.... I had to look up FTW Apparently it means 'For The Win', which I'm assured means it's good!
  6. Maturing very well, definitely not on the Highway to Hell!
  7. Spotted this in my BCS morning e-mail I want one!!! Supercomputer deployed in New Mexico 30/01/2008 The 14,336-core Altix Ice system from SGI was shipped to New Mexico and turned on, making it the third most powerful computer on the planet. Shipped to the state just two days prior to its initial activation, the computer was deployed in record time, as some supercomputers can take weeks or months. The system is fitted with Intel Xeon processors, 28TB of Ram and 172TB of SGI storage and can execute 172 trillion operations per second. The state's governor, Bill Richardson, helped to commission the project and said he hoped the state would receive interest from researchers and companies looking to use the high capacity system. William Feiereisen, a science advisor to Governor Richardson, said: "We wanted a production system - one that could be used to run applications soon after its arrival - and that's exactly what we got with SGI Altix Ice."
  8. The updated story reads that it's an old school being knocked down, so fortunately no pupils are involved, unfortunately some poor construction worker is though
  9. I would imagine if you did get it working (and I doubt that very much - how does MIDI redirecting work in TC?) you'll get huge latency, especially if using kontakt player. The latest version (Sibelius 5) also introduces virtual synths, that'll be a defintie no for TC then! Music APPs IMO are best kept for fat clients
  10. That's my understanding as well. We don't have APs in every room, and when the survey was done the guys used an AP and a laptop to test the strength in surrounding rooms.
  11. Norton 360 , FITS on a stick and a 64MB USB sitck from Sky (didn't know you could still get them that small!)
  12. It's an 07 Toyota Yaris, I had the bluetooth fitted as an extra so I could keep my licence points free! I read somewhere on the Internet that it may be a Motorola hands free kit?
  13. For Christmas the missus kindly bought me a Sony-ericsson W810i to replace my knackered K700, unfortunately I can't pair it with the handsfree bluetooth in my car The K700 worked fine. I suspect it may be down to the bluetooth versions - I think the phone is V2 and the car V1. Has anyone any suggestions as to how to get it to work? Or is it a trip to Toyota to ask how much to upgrade the bluetooth in the car edit - Finally got it to work. It was failing on the pairing, as soon as the phone prompted for the pass code the toyota failed and disconnected. In a fit of inspiration I still input the code into the phone (even thought the toyota had disconnected) and left it trying to pair, I then started again with the Toyota and it worked! Damn modern technology!!
  14. Agree with DSapseid, writing things down is a good way of ensuring things aren't forgotten, as well as showing a pattern when talking to the union. Whilst people are often reluctant to talk to the union, they are the best place for advice - it may be that she doesn't have to get them actively involved (though it's advisable to take them to any discussions with the head/management that may take place)
  15. Same here, OU with no IP in the proxy settings for the naughty blighters. I am also fed up of staff letting kids play games, etc, and may also drop the enitre school into the OU, we've already had one TFT smashed as someone got frustrated at losing his game.......... Dread to think how many mice have been trashed by bored kids
  16. Just registered for the 11th, will call in to Edugeek HQ and say hello! Joe
  17. Same here as M25man says. When I arrived we had two seperate networks. As both sites could be accessed via our 10MB link through our LA I made them into one domain, I also have all user areas on our storage server in the upper school, works fine! It's defnintely worth looking into before purchasing your own setup!
  18. I'm trying to capture an image from a laptop (wired connection) to our WDS server. The image seems to capture okay, but as soon as it gets to the uploading to the server part I get "Uploading image to WDS server. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format" The event log doesn't offer any clues, there's 30gb of free space and plenty of RAM free - 1.5GB! edit - I've tried manually copying the image from the laptop to the reminst share and importing into WDS from there, I get "The file does not contain a valid boot image"
  19. 84. When Google displays "We're sorry... ... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application" Please ring and give us hassle, everyone knows we wrote the Google search Engine in our spare time!
  20. No Our only internet access is through the LEA. We have no other 'line' here. And we're treated the same as the kids, except I'm allowed blogs and forums!
  21. Guess it'll have to wait until tonight then
  22. We have a logitech 5.1 THX system in our library which is something like 160W (at least!) with a 12" sub and it's right next our office, during school hols it gets thoroughly tested :headbang: we have a had a few comments when the office staff pop in to do some work though!
  23. If it had been one of the NCP car parks in Cardiff I wouldn't have blamed him, extortion comes to mind  Seriously though, he's one hell of a lucky bloke!
  24. As the presenter on GMTV said " Hang in there!"
