Brilliant! -
I'm not sure where the best place to put this is.... has nayone managed to download the latest UPD 5.1.1? The download link on this page helpfully goes to a blank download........ I'd like to get it as it apparently has bug fixes for a TS environment, and I have several bugs - namely a crashing print spooler!

Well I guess that means I won't be buying a winning ticket tonight

Now that would be a good thing! Then that would just leave Java......

GD you've hit the nail on the head. The training and prevention work CEOP does is a key element of their work. If this goes the govt have made one massive error of judgement

Brilliant!

We switched to Spiceworks back in June/July. When I realised how much time I was spending trying to get OPSD working, rather than on the job tickets in it, a switch of software was inevitable!

Ah, but did you have the 16k upgrade for the ZX81? I did!!

Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Double Login
joe90bass replied to mtagg's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Have you got the option for never remember password or something along those lines set (at home so can't check!)? If I remote in from my home Vista PC to one of our Remote Desktop servers I have to enter them twice. We don't in school from a Thin Client though. -
ABtutor console unable to see class
joe90bass replied to joe90bass's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Seems to have been down to operator error........ I had a group password and security restricted to the teachers PC in said room for that group. Removing the group password and just using a tutor password and restricting to a PC seems to work! -

ABtutor console unable to see class
joe90bass replied to joe90bass's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Should have said, I've tried that! Agreed does some to be some odd things with connection passwords! -
I have a strange issue with ABTutor console in one class, I've e-mailed Abconsulting and had no response... In one IT suite the console is unable to see the PCs which I have put into a group and given a password to. When I login as the admin on this PC I can see the rest of the school but not the group as well. I can however see the PCs in this class from the console on my PC in my office. I have removed and reinstalled the software, and also manually allowed the ports on the firewall on the console PC in question (though they are opened via GPO). I'm now puzzled as to why it doesn't work! The error shown is invalid connection password, the clients are deployed via GPO and as well as reinstalling the conole on the teacher PC I have also re-entered the connection password several times to elimate a typo, but as it sees the other PCs in the school this isn't the issue anyway! help!

When I spoke to our LEA about doing a similar thing here I was told that ideally we needed to be able to track back who was doing what, and that it would be worth speaking to the libraries to see how they did it. I didn't progress any further as it seemed a lot or work/cost to implement for little benefit.

Terminal Servers Crashing BIG PROBLEM
joe90bass replied to dan400007's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I had blue screens on ours when first setup with 2008. Turned out to be the broadcom management suite which I had used to load balance the NICs. It took one of our support calls to MS to track down though. Our servers are Fujitsu RX300. Might be worth stripping down to bare minimum any management stuff and/or looking for updated drivers. If you have a schools agreement/technet plus(?) then MS are worth a shot as well -
And another vote, hope you get your beer!

having the same issue with Vista SP1 PCs that got reimaged over the summer, though I thought Vista supported Group Policy preferences out of the box..... Time to get SP2 on them and test again!

Yes, AFAIK that is the only way to get drive mappings working through GP on XP

In Bridgend it's blocked on the global blacklist, no complaints about that!

I had a call yesterday regarding a teachers files missing from his user area. When I looked at the back up tapes the last time he had any files is his user area was January! I can only assume that since then his Vista PC has been working offline. This has only come to light as the inevitable has happened, and it seems that the Offline files have now disappeared, I've restored the files from Tape to hise server user area but there's a huge gap of almost 8 months work missing. I'm currently tying to get into the CSC cache to see if there's anything to recover. Has anyone else got any suggestions as to what else I can do? XP has obeyed my policy to not have offline files enabled on our workstations, but Vista has not

Server check site recommends a maximum of 23 degrees in the rack itself.

In jest, Monday mornings as with Synaesthesia. But not a 'real' sleep paralysis, that would probably freak me out to!

I did some basic BASIC stuff (groan bad play on words there!) on my Acorn Electron, but my first programming was on my ZX81 from INPUT magazine. Interesting article!

That shouldn't work, but it does!
