By filling up - I'm guessing these are private consumer accounts - not G Suite ones (as these are unlimited). So as a private individual, you can buy more storage or upgrade to Google One. As a school, you can use G Suite for Education which is free and your accounts are unlimited - so will never fill up. You can migrate private Gmail to G suite - see https://support.google.com/a/answer/6167866?hl=en. With G Suite you can also archive all your mail using Vault. You should not be using private accounts for school stuff.

We use Ericom Accessnow for staff access to SIMS on Chromebooks. Works well. For general RDP there is the Microsoft Android app or ChromeRDP (on the Chrome Web store).

We do it the easy way and give everyone a Chromebook....

I've got the Moto G6 Plus and it's got a good camera. Much better than my old Nexus 6.

I don't have a timescale - I'd follow the G Suite update blog - these things get announced there.

There are already device policies that you can apply to devices in a specific OU and has been as long as we have use ChromeOS devices (about 7 years). I don't think per device apps will ever happen as that would require fundermentally changing Android. The trial we have just finished was about device caching apps - removing the need to download them everytime. This might be what people are referring to. This only works on force installed apps and I don't think its generally out yet. There is new stuff coming regarding device management - but all NDA I'm afraid - so cannot say more - watch this space.

Android apps are installed on a per-user basis. So you can push different apps to different users depending on what OU they are in. The options are to make the app appear in the PlayStore, force install and pin to shelf. If you force install apps - then different users sign into the same device - then the app should be cached on the device (assuming its the current version). However, it will still need installing. Android works very differently to Windows in this respect. Generally, I would not recommend using Android apps on ChromeOS outside of a 1:1 scenario unless you don't wipe user data and sharing is restricted to a couple of users per device. If you wipe user data on logoff (come in multiuser setups), then the space for apps may be very limited depending on the storage on the device. Basically multiuser single install of android apps does not exist as a thing.

We buy them from whoever does the best deal. Normally C-Learning do the best price for us. They can offer various options I believe. However, we buy the devices outright and sell on to parents at cost. Buy outright we use Parentmail to collect the money and for monthly Edde. No finance arrangements at all - money comes to us and we add the collection cost to what we charge parents. So we can offer parents a very good deal at around 2/3 of the retail price. This gives us about a 80% buy rate. Insurance is an optional £15 a year. That comes to us and we fix devices in house. We use the £15's to stock our spare part cupboard. You can get a third party to do it all for you but the cost will be much higher.

We have 1:1 Y7-13. 1080 students. Various options for parents. Buy outright, monthly options, take home loan with deposit and free day loan option. Basically make sure use of G Suite is very embedded before going 1:1. We went staff 1:1 Chromebooks first. Fixes devices in house - don't waste money on external insurance. Way cheaper and faster. UK GEG ~3000 members, GSFE Admins ~6600 members, Google Classroom ~185000 members - so the communities are very active and the go to place to ask G Suite related questions - so will be really missed if they kill if for Edu as well. I've asked Google for some clarification as to what is going to happen to all the commmunities - especially the G Suite focused ones.

We force device management onto all devices as soon as a user added a school account. So while they "own" the phone - we "own" the data and have total power over the device and where the data goes.

Drive app on the phone - upload the video to Drive. We use Mobile Device management on all devices with a school account and unlimited storage on Drive with G Suite. If you also use the Classroom app - the student can directly add the video to an assignment. Dead simple for users and free.

Missed that - lol. Guest you could just merge blank lables and then copy the resulting doc. Not tried.

Have you tried Cast for Education? No extra physical hardware needed and teachers can set the permissions easily. Chromecasts are really a consumer product.

I've been migrating schools into out MAT G Suite setup and most of the O365 to G Suite Mail/Calendar/Contacts have transferred without a hitch. However, while migrating one school, when I click on the "Connect" button in the G Suite migration tool I get: "SSL error. SSL certificate may not have been installed properly on the source server. Please verify." Now the help link in Google takes you to various pages saying O365 must have SSL Certs setup correctly to allow https transfer. However, being a O365 noob - I don't know how to fix this on their O365 setup. Anyone any idea where to look? This is the only school of many that have had an issue.

Well, you could go entirely G Suite and ChromeOS - them you don't need AD - all cloud managed. We are mainly ChromeOS and management od 1000's of uses and devices is pretty easy. More and more schools are going this way, either fully or partially. However, we still have local AD for PCs and some local services - but long term the plan is to gradually retire these or convert to Cloudready. So it can be done - just needs a change of mindset by the school. Another alternative would be to switch to Linux - but you are still going to have local VMs for authentication etc. ClearOS is a friendly server distro - you can setup a file server, authentication server, groups etc all in a nice web GUI or web host it all.

Yes - as long as you can produce the required files it will work. I run a scheduled commandreporter task to update the files and sync the calendars once a week.

If you use G suite - force them to sign into Chrome by group policy and then they won't get any ads in things like a Google search as G Suite accounts don't have adverts. If its other sites you can block by pushing an adblocker - so we push uBlock Origin.

We use Securly - easy to setup, works on all devices, parental portal, offsite filtering lots of features and good reporting. Not too expensive either (free for just Chromebooks).

We are 1:1 with Chromebooks for staff and students. The Chromebooks run all the web-based stuff and managed Android apps. So you can largely ditch Windows if you want. If you do you will have a much easier time managing 1000's of devices, your users will have startup and login time measured in a few seconds and for 95% of devices you unbox them, enroll them and the next time you lay hands on them is 5-6 years later when you refresh your devices. As fra as storage goes - all our users enjoy G Suites unlimited storage. I'd not go back to Windows laptops in a million years and I don't think any of our teachers/students would either. The key thing is your school needs to buy into working in the cloud and the GSuite eco-system and then nothing else makes much sense. I manage IT in a MAT and locally in a secondary - I use a Chromebook and a Chromebox in my office/classroom - they just work.

We use the latest version of FOG. Simple to do, just works and deploys Win 10 in a few minutes. Runs on a lightweight Ubuntu server VM with one vCPU and 2Gb RAM.

Sometime after the general release of the new GMail which is this month. So I'd expect it in the next couple of months. Some policies are already in place to manage the feature.
