It takes the timetable you have on Bromcom and creates all the classes and syncs students and staff into the right groups and keeps them up to date daily. We have used it at one of our Secondaries this academic year and it works well. We provision straight from Bromcom to Google - but there might be an option to just sync to classroom if you have the account names in Bromcom - you would need to ask them.

Bromcom can do this with their Google Integration addon. Very easy to setup and then its all automated. Does calendars as well.

Depending on the school, 0 (smaller primary) to 2/3 secondary (Print server, catering SW and linux DHCP/DNS box). Most things are cloud based these days. Money get spent of good internet connectivity.

We use Pulseway across our Trust. Keeps you one step ahead of problems and is very reliable.

ExtremeCloud IQ - paid for at some sites and free version at others. Nice feature set and easy to use. Also a bit of Unifi, Aruba and Ruckus at various sites. All seem to work fine - but I like the feature set of the Extreme stuff.

This is a really neat feature and you can define different sharing suggestions for different teams - so you can build custom "Target Audiences" per OU. I use this feature with our central Trust Team and it helps streamlining sharing to appropriate groups. It does nothing to default sharing settings at all - so nothing to fret about. It just gives people sharing pointers when embedding docs into things like Mail. The default "Target Audience" is the whole domain - but thats was the default anyways. It also only does anything if you have the access checker set to one of the top two options. So its a really useful feature and if you ignore it, it won't actually change anything as far as end users are concerned.

Depends on how you sync them. Most schools in our Trust use Wonde and at the moemnt there is not an option to add ah-hoc people as staff to classes without them being kicked out by the sync. So I have a GAM script that runs daily to add these ad-hoc people back in - so they do get kicked out - but quickly added back in. At the school I'm based at, we use our own GAM scripts and only sync students to classes and not staff. Staff we add at the start of the year and then ad-hoc change we make with GAM during the year.

We use Securly across our Trust. All flavors - Chrome extension, DNS and SmartPAC. Works great, on and off site filtering on all devices, good delegation across the Trust. Just works really.

If they are going to used onsite, then they need to be enrolled and managed - you can push everything automatically. You can also apply a device policy to allow timed access to private accounts. We do this - so they can use private accounts after 4pm and until 6am and at weekends (you can set whatever times you want).

I'd suggest syncing classes straight from your MIS rather than getting people to make classes. You can use GAM and a few scripts to do this - or third parties like Wonde will do it for a small cost. If you want a good GUI rather than commandline - them C-Learning has a nice tool: https://www.c-learning.net/en/classroom-toolbox Classroom management is pretty simple - especially if you have something like Wonde setup - pretty much looks after itself.

Open evening we live stream to YouTube and pop a Google Form link in the video description for questions. Use OBS for the live stream and stream whatever - normally some videos and a Google Meet. Works fine and minimal effort. Parents evenings, we use Google Meet. We do the appointments as normal via Parentmail. Export them and use a bit of Sheets scripting to generate Meet links. Staff get a doc with their appointments and parents get emailed out a list of appointments with the relevant Meet links. Worked last week without issue and staff and parents seemed to think it was a much better way of doing it, so it might stick as the way we do them from now on rather than the hall bun fight.

What I do is have an account for each school and pop that user into the OU I want the Devices to end up in when we enrol them. Set user policy for the device OU to allow enrollment, allow adding an asset ID and move to the OU the user is in. In out Trust we have an OU for Primary devices and then an OU for each school, then and OU depending on how the individual school wants the devices setup and the same for secondaries. In the cases where it 100/1000's of devices we use GAM to move the devices to the right place and assign to users and so on.

You can browser the entire store on the admin console and deploy apps to an OU that only you are in for testing purposes. We have a Google Form where people request access to apps - we check then out - do they work etc and then more generally deploy as required.

You don't go to the web version of the PlayStore on the Chromebook - you open up the PlayStore App which is there by default - just like you would on a phone. You load that up with Apps you have approved and people can then add them. Only apps you approve in the admin console appear in the PlayStore. You can allow different apps for different users.

Yep - I've asked - they were not too much help. I've got the onsite IT company contacting Smoothwall to figure out whats wrong. We shall see (and then as soon as possible they will join the Trusts Securly agreement and the problem will vanish).

Thanks - Google search is fine - its just login. I've found lots of articles about search and correctly specifying the default search provider is the fix there - but this is between the username entry and the password entry.

I was at a school today coming into our Trust and we are just deploying G Suite there. On their network, every time someone logs into their G Suite account, after the username, you get a captcha to type in and then the password. I even got this on my personal device connected to their network. Happens 100% or the time. They use Smoothwall for filtering (we use Securly across most of the Trust - so not really familiar with Smoothwall), and I'm guessing it's something to do with that. Anyone got any idea why this is happening on their network and how to fix it? Thanks

Use GAM to export a list of all your classes. So: gam print courses todrive This will give a list of all the courses you have. We use the Bromcom sync at one of our schools and it works OK, but I did have to use GAM to set the status of all the classes it made to ACTIVE - so gam update course courseid status ACTIVE In Bromcom, in the Classroom bit, you can export all your class ids which is useful.

Hapara Highlights is very good as is Securly Classroom.

I'd raise a support ticket and join the queue. At least your sync is actually running. You can delete users in the Wonde interface and then manually match them to the right user - I've had to do a lot of this.

We us InTune - but as we use G Suite, thats being replaced by Google MDM for Windows which is good if you are G Suite and all new build PCs. InTune has heaps of settings (The Edu portal is just a front for the main event) - so covers most things? What is not covered by InTune native settings, can be done with custom OMA-URI settings and you can also load up ADMX files - which is how we manage the basic Chrome settings.

If you have not tried it already - Geforce Now works in a browser on a Chromebook. So yo can now play a many of your existing games (say on Steam), in a browser on a free tier. Works really well - we have had fun this morning playing a bit of Metro Exodus, World of Tanks and a bit of Death Stranding on Chromebooks on out 1Gbps Virgin line - worked a treat. The we decided we better block it before the students come back!
