Its been that way for some time - since the merge between YouTube and G+ - so you need to have a G+ profile to comment on YouTube + create a channel. We have G+ for all staff and students Y10+.

You need to enable G+ as well as the two are linked. Only enable G+ for age 13+.

Why not just deploy the bookmarks via Group Policy which you can do if you use the Chrome adm? Did a brief guide on how here

You could run a GAM script as a scheduled task to automate it - would need a suitable data sources as a csv file to work - scheduled msi report perhaps?

We use Teacher Dashboard - this creates all the groups for us with the correct permissions - really very good - but not free. GAM is the manual way to go.

You can do this with the GAM command line tool (as many other things). GAM is useful for lots of things - bulk changing passwords and so on.

Hi, For room bookings, I'd recommend creating resource calendars (these are special calendars you create in the admin console). As an admin, subscribe to the calendar and share it with whoever needs to see and make bookings - say an allstaff group. All a user then does is create an event in their calendar, edit the event and add a room. All resources calendars you create come up as bookable venues. If the room in not available - it does not appear as free. I'd suggest publishing the room booking calendars onto a staff Google site so staff can have an overview of each room. Its pretty easy to setup and once done runs forever. Yes - you need to add the Google MX records to the domain hosting for email to work. The MX records are in Gmail settings - just cut and paste them into the place for MX records wherever the domain is hosted. You will also need to prove domain ownwership when you add the sub-domain.

If you add a subdomain it essentially allows you to create users with a different domain at the end of their email address. If you put all these users into a different sub-OU you can then apply specific email policies to them. So you can restrict who they can email. For example, our feeder primaries are sub-domains of our main domain. The primary school pupils are in sub-OU's that have a policy applied that limits them to sending or receiving emails to just their sub-domain - a walled garden. Our students have a policy applied that prevents them from emailing the primary sub-domains. It all works very well. All done in the the 'Compliance' section of Gmail settings - in particular 'Content Compliance' and 'Restrict Delivery'. They only way for them not to be able to 'see' email addresses of teachers would be to remove the teacher users from the directory listing - not generally a good thing to do. However, the point of Google Apps is allowing teachers to share and collaborate easily - so I'm not sure why you would want to hide them. The other thing to note is that Google Classroom does not like having teachers and students on different domains - I'd generally not recommend having students and teachers in a single institution on different domains.

Within groups, manage group, basic permissions, you have View topics, Post, Join Group, Allow members external to the organisation. In Post (so who can post to the group), you have Owners of the Group, Managers of the group, All members of the group, all organisation members and finally public. So for the student group (so all students), the leadership group are owners and students are just members - and its set to only owners can post but members can view. You do need Google Groups for Business turned on to be able to do all this - I've noticed its turned off by default.

Create your allstaff group in the management console add the users you want to be able to use it. Click on 'Access Settings' and set your permissions there. For example, we have a group called 'allstaff' that only members can post to. You can also set who can join/ask to join and so on - there are many options within groups (and types of groups). We have groups for all of our classes that only class members and teachers can post to. We also have a group with all students in that only the leadership group can post to be students can read (but not post). Many options.

We just bought a handful of cheap ones on ebay. We have a few different types - nothing special and they have all works on all models of chromebooks we have tried so far (Samsungs, Dells and Acers mainly).

We have several USB to Ethernet adaptors. Soon as they are enrolled they pick up the wifi, unplug and onto the next one.

Not from the management console - but there is a sheets add-in which will do it and allows you to update stuff from the sheet. In testing atm, but you can request access here: chromebookInventory (Add-on) - New Visions CloudLab Seems to work well for use. Chromebook Edu community on G+ is a good source of info and idea.

Sorry - just thought it was interesting - been waiting a while for this (only appeared as an option for us on Friday). Not selling anything as there is nothing to buy! Any ways - I'm Roger, work at Wheatley Park School - watched this forum for a long while thought it was about time I contributed something..... Obviously there are lots of ways of doing these things - just seems to be a good way if you happen to use Apps.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Google+ has just become available for Apps for Education. Have had it enables for staff for a few day. People seem very excited about the possibilities of hangouts (virtual classrooms, life YouTube broadcasts and so on) and circles. Will be enabling for students (must be 13+) Y9+ in due course. I post a bit about Apps on my blog at wpsit.blogspot.co.uk and will update this with uses and progress on the use of G+ in the coming months if you are interested.
