A syspreped image and imagex as I have not been able to boot MDT on the tablets with secureboot on or off. Windows Installer image on a USB key and an external usb hard drive then an imagex over. Not as simple as MDT but works with their picky EFI boot.

Whats Corero ? Does your Hyper-V server have intel NICs, do you have the latest ones and are the virtualisation extentions turned on in them so the dodgey intel drivers can cope?

Got six Asus t100 s here, painful to image but great once they are and domain joined. All the printers, scripts and applications just work like any other station. Metro apps are a mess as stated but people seem to like them unless they are all mac all the time people who refuse to give them a chance.

I'd go with the smart one, means you can stream to it without needing the pc on and from multiple devices easily. It does not look to have a built in mic or camera which I would be wary of given their lacklustre security and it is not sony so shouldn't go leaking all your details and credit card information to the whole world like they did last year or there abouts.

Has anyone managed to get this going, have a new machine I have built up with all USB3 ports plus direct connected moniters. All drivers are installed fine but when you connect a keyboard and mouse to a usb hub then connect it to the Multipoint (as is the appropriate setup) it will not allow you to map them to a station. I think it is the filter driver not being able to figure out which hubs are the root hubs and so not allowing any to operate through the filter driver. The last time I had this issue I was able to install vendor USB drivers but this does not seem to work anymore with the release of newer Microsoft drivers which override them. Found a registry key that used to allow usb devices to be plugged in to root hubs and detected but this no longer works. Have also posted to the Microsoft forums for Multipoint server but as the last question I asked there took more than a year to get an answer I thought I try here also. Multipoint 2012 - USB 3, hubs not recognised as able to be mapped as stations even though drivers are fine.

I use a Logitech k400r in my room for my little dev box, the trackpad is no good for gaming but you can add a different mouse. Was looking at the backlit wireless variety but they are very expensive. As to a TV, if it is always going to have a PC hooked up to it being a smart one may not matter that much as the PC will do everything but it can be nice having another option. Personally I went for a semi passive PSU so that it has no fans on unless it hits about 70% capacity and a nice heavy case to dampen sound so it is quiet enough to run without disturbing anyone. One thing for smart tvs is that you can control them over the network so you can use a smartphone or computer generally as a remote rather than messing about with another box of batteries.

LG had the best filetype support when I was buying my last one but the colour reproduction was no where near as good as the Samsung or the sony, The sony had rubbish filetype support and all sorts of random restrictions which is probably why they were so much cheaper so they could move the things.

Samsung, all my tvs are Samsung, have network and DLNA, the UI does not matter if you are pushing media from a pc via your a phone app.

You need to sysprep with the persistpnpdrivers option set in an unattended xml. You need the dsim to make those xml files though which is a hassle but you only need to do it once.

Yes, you can use an Linux or even windows server install to act as a layer 3 router. Either one switch port and Nic per vlan or one or more clan tagged ports going to the 'router' to handle it depending on the traffic requirements. Low end layer 3 stuff could be better or worse depending on how fast it is at routing. Untangle, smoothwall express and many other out of the box installs like pfsense will make this easy depending on you hardware.

The utils you want are the hp acu (array configuration utility) and the hp integrated log viewer which will show up way more info than event viewer as they are designed to isolate the OS from the issues. As to eset, a single infected or broken machine spewing packets could trip it. A wireshark of the network to check for a busted Nic spewing rubbish packets or a virus doing the same could easily kill it like that.

Eep. Eset. Lots of people like it, I'm not one of them after their updates hosed our exchange server twice in a row and caused all sorts of networking issues. Everyone else seems to like it though. I would look for anything labeled intrusion detection or network activity checking, connection throttling etc. And disable all of it. I have also had it kill the entire network stack on client machines and only release it with a removal and reinstall. Luckily as it works most of the time it may just be hitting a connections per minute throttle and locking it out. There should be detection logs somewhere in the application on the server and a section for network related stuff, throttling should be listed there but don't rule it out even if its not. They do change their engine behavior without warning so eset could easily have tweaked something in an update to wreck your day. They did it to me enough times.

There are plenty of good renters and plenty of bad ones, it makes sense to be prepared for the worst even if it does not happen. I'm sure it's not aimed at all renters just those which he seems to have had a bad experience with and their ilk.

Proliant MD/DL3?0 G? depending on the model it may have an integrated log viewer which will tell you about most hardware things that are afoot. I would also look at the drivers, possibly set up performance counters to log during the day for stuff like Read/Write on the NIC and the drives along with the queue on each. I would also look at the AV and make sure it is not collapsing connections that it does not like. We had all sorts of fun with Nortons AV cutting off connection from machines it thought were infected rightly or wrongly. Another thing to check is turning off TCP acceleration and offloading in the NIC driver, especially if you have landed intel network cards in there and double especially if it hosts VMs. Had all sorts of issues with shoddy intel drivers going nuts and dropping connections to VMs. EDIT: Watch the firmware versions as people have said, there was a firmware update a while back that bricked onboard NICs in hp servers.

Has the machine been checked for viruses, sometimes an AV will kill a connection if it detects dodgey behaviour which may lead to this depending on how badly the AV implements itself in the OS.

Making a new account in a non-signed in iTunes to 'purchase' a free app apparently does it although I have never managed it, the other way that showed up after I gave up on apple stuff was signing into iCloud first then itunes and getting a free app. Only half an hour per each one of the aIDs. I'll be quiet now before I reignite the thread with my limitless dislike of Apple everything.

Having dealt with rubbish IWB software I can say that decent stuff that you can standardise on is worth some money. We have gone with Mimio which for the moment is free. This is the exact time where that OSS IWB software would be able to gain traction if anyone could remember what it was called.

Oh well, at least proves it was a good idea as other people are already profiting from it.
