My sky router deals with requests from: 4 iPhones 3 iPads 3 Laptops 2 Raspberry Pis 1 Smart Tv 1 Blue ray player 1 Squeezebox 1 Sky box 1 Wii 1 Xbox Wireless supplied by 2 Unifi UAPs. 4.5 devices per occupant.

I use a load of different things. Dropbox (I have about 12 gigs), SkyDrive (managed to save my 25 gig plan), Box (I got 50Gigs through an android promotion). I think Box is the one I use least - I don't like the GUI or app so much. Have you seen Copy? https://copy.com?r=Nu8oZe (Warning - affiliate link!) They give 15gigs free and 5 per referral (for both parties). Also tried Sugarsync and Pogoplug - but to be honest Dropbox is probably the best experience of them all - just a shame about the space available for free.

So just to clarify @Darylrese - when you say the changes you've made - that was adding the DHCP options 66 & 67?

I've use Ekahau too. It's free. If you can, split your site map into sections - if your map and analysis is too large I found the program struggled to cope. Also take your time. It's a long slow process to get accurate readings.

I've put in unifi systems from 17 UAP-Pros in a larger primary school to a 2 UAP-Standard system in my own home. Bang for buck I think unifi are fantastic. In my high school, I have a 25 AP ruckus install. However, it isn't a system that is a polished or as feature rich as the big names. If you are doing much of your client control and security via a radius server - you should be able to do most of it on unifi. If you are using the advanced features of your ruckus controller you may find features are lacking on the unifi controller. As for throughput - I've never been able to run a fair stress test within the different environments - I think day to day the Unifi UAP-Pros and the ZF7363's probably offer a similar connection, but I don't run VDI over either of them. I know there are some Ruckus trade in deals going at the moment, have a look around the forums.

Yep it's the IP of the WDS server - probably a typo. Could you post the config of the switch with the port that works over WDS? Mask IP addresses and Names if you don't want us to see them.

To get it deploying across the all the vlans you'll need the iphelper configured, routing correctly working over your core switch (which we assume it is) and the correct options set in each DHCP scope. I think for WDS it's Option 66: IP of WDS Server Option 67: boot\x86\wdsnbp.com but I don't use WDS - we still use fog. You may also need to forward the udp protocol to your vlans broadcast address for the tftp server to work correctly. Off the top of my head... ip routing vlan 11 name "Client VLAN" untagged A1-24 ip address 10.0.11.254 255.255.255.0 ip helper-address 10.0.100.1 vlan 100 name "Servers VLAN" untagged B1-24 ip address 10.0.100.254 255.255.255.0 ip forward-protocol udp 10.0.11.255 tftp exit write mem

If you tap and hold on the wifi connection you should be able to add a proxy from the menu that comes up. Our nexus worked well on our old proxy. Manual only though - won't work with PAC files wpad.

Identify the need - then find the device/budget to match. Have you got a local SILC you can speak to once you have identified the needs of the users?

We installed it ourselves too, but we were given a best bet guide by our suppliers based on building plans and a few measurements. It wasn't very scientific, we ended up tweaking it, but it works well now. Speak with your Senior leaders - you've been given all this super equipment and would like to see it put to best use. They can pay someone to do it - quicker possibly - or they can give you the time to do it. You get some good experience and the school doesn't have to transfer monies away to private business. I'm guessing as this was a gift from the LA, they'll go with the second option - and that's also good for you in the long run. Lots of advice available here for ruckus and vlanning on hp switches.

Have a look at sites and services as @TronXP suggests - if that isn't the culprit can you post your router / core switch config file?

I guess. I was looking at rare to mean not easily replaced or not created in great numbers. I guess I should have been thinking 'not often found'.

Although I've never visited, I've heard a lot about this school. I once attended a conference where the deputy head (who has moved on now) was talking about the schools use of social media. They have used facebook in particular to communicate with the school community and set homework. Mobile devices and mobile learning was big. They like their technology from what I could tell, and aren't afraid to explore how it can aid teaching and learning. I'm sure this would be a really interesting post for anyone lucky enough to get it.

@pete from your link isn't your skeletool classed as a lock knife - it has a blade that locks? Or would you argue it is ok, because it is in your toolbox?

In different schools we use ruckus and unifi.

May not apply in this case, but worth noting perhaps. I'd guess the redirection isn't working, because the clients can't find your proxy - due to the fact their is no routing going on? Out of interest, if you have the guest wireless use tunneling, and you configure your zone director second nic in your guest ip range / vlan - Is the ZD able to route the traffic over? Just thinking out loud here - I've never tried it. If I've got the wrong end of the stick could you perhaps clarify everything? IP ranges - vlans - what is tagged where - a diagram might help too.

Well if that's the case I've misread the original post completely but @Vellocet seemed to suggest it works and now just has a DNS issue?

We've recently moved to Schools Broadband who will offer you a quote with lightspeed filtering and fortinet firewall included. When we compared them to other providers we approached, they seemed to offer the most complete package at a reasonable cost. We're a reasonably large secondary school using one of their 100mbit fibre lines. Three weeks after install, we're very happy at the moment.
