We have a number of Apple iMac 24inch which were purchased in 2008. We are considering our refresh plans for this year but were unsure what to do with these. Apart from updating the operating system, they seem to be working okay however, we would like to know what life expectancy these machines will/should have and/or when they could/should be replaced? Anyone got any experience of these? Thanks Graeme

I have a Galaxy Ace too and find it very frustrating with respect to the lack of memory to even just update some of the basic apps let alone installing others. Nowadays, SIMS .net is deployed using Solus 3. It's not straightforward and rarely works on the first pass however, it usually gets to all the machines eventually....

Morning vikpaw, yes I hold all the budgets for ICT Development, ICT Maintenance and ICT licenses so with my holistic view of how the school is running I am able to 'suggest' the next steps for the ICT to support teaching and learning. That may have been how it was designed but in reality it just doesn't work like that and we get all the flack because Teacher's, etc. can't access SIMS until numerous attempts to push out the update finally reach the end user's machine!

I've got the same issue here with Discover. Only found out today that it wasn't up to date. I've tried the command lines above but the second one fails with: "an erro occurred during right granting. a network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connect to sql server. the server was not found or was not accessible .... Hi Danp, I introduced Google Apps for Education at my current school. I created two suborganisations, one for Staff and another for Students, and placed their user accounts in these respectively. In Advanced settings, you can restrict email to specific domains, i.e. for Students, restrict to your new domain and your old domain, as a start. Regards Graeme

Did you share the docs with a message? I find this prompts the user to click on the link in their email notification to access the document. I then get them to click on the folders icon and choose to add it to My Drive so they can find it again another time.

I think that's 18 patches for the Census so far... must be a new record!

When you are in the Census view, as part of trying to run the Census, you will get a box at the bottom of the screen which highlights any fields that should contain an exam result, i.e. the completed date for the course has passed. Enter a grade and a pass, etc. and save.

What a surprise, my contractor doesn't see any issues with DNS.... We had a new server infrastructure installed during the Summer and we have countless issues with DNS and DHCP still ongoing and causing headaches for my techies, and me!
