A friend, who is in Portugal, has just got a Kindle Fire and tried tethering it to his iPhone without success. I'm going out there tonight and I'll have a look but I wondered if any of you had tried.

We haven't got touchscreens as such. The snotty kids just wipe their snotty hands over the screens!

IT copes with up to 4-week timetables and is simplicity to use. Our staff love it. Another plus is that the authors are very good at reacting to individual needs.

I opted for IE8 in the end as I needed a quick solution without too many unknowns. We are upgrading to Windows 7 shortly, so I'll rethink it then.

But that's how kids type anyway and little seems to be done to teach them to type correctly. We used to try but it was never reinforced. When you see how fast kids can text on their mobiles, I'm not sure if it's an issue and by the time they are working, on-screen keyboards may be the norm.

I recently changed to Chrome on my computer. I have a very big Google spreadsheet that was painfully slow on IE8 but is almost realtime with Chrome, so I am delighted. I'm seeing problems with some sites and I'm toying with changing the curriculum machines to Chrome. Is this the way to go?

If it's for drama, then the audio is probably twice as important as the video and you just won't get that from an internal microphone in any camcorder. The Rode videomic is very good, I use one as part of the kit I use to record shows. Trouble is, that's £70 and you then need a camera that has an external mic. socket and you won't get one of those cheaply. I'd be inclined to get some more money to spend and then buy something second hand off Ebay.

If there's no usb cable, how come the red light is on? I assume you mean the red/green led on the bottom right of the board.

I've just noticed one today where the doors reluctantly opens to it's full extent and then drops back again. I'm going to look to see if I can wedge it open for the time being, which hopefully won't do more damage. Edit: Couple of strips of cellotape seem to have done the trick.

Many years ago, I was in a pub in Looe and the TV reception was terrible. When someone commented on it, an old boy with weather-beaten features, in a thick roll neck jumper, took his pipe from his mouth and replied "Ahrrr, 'lectricity baint very good in Cornwall".
