  1. I was waiting to hear her say "Are you related to the trouser people?"
  2. I just tried the Fn F8 on my L450 and an on/off icon appears at the top of the screen but nothing actually happens. I did have a problem with it not connecting to the WiFi and in the end I disabled the wireless adapter from network connections, enabled it again and it worked. My next step would have been to uninstall the drivers in device manager and then re-boot but that wasn't necessary.
  3. Congratulations. A photo would be nice
  4. We use prmgreentech.com and find them very good. They take projector bulbs as well, which is handy.
  5. Can you see what other KS1 schools are doing in your area and get some ideas from them.
  6. I agree but I think they have to make it competitive to appeal to the masses. Bit like Time Team "And as usual we have just THREE days to do it". Forgetting the three weeks getting it all set up and the three weeks filling in the holes.
  7. Excellent programme. I like most of the things Dick Strawbridge does but this was especially good.
  8. A Prime number generator is a good starting point as the kids understand the rules for determining them, so it is easier for them to get their heads around the steps involved. It's also an easy one to refine based on the rules. For example, you don't need to check even numbers.
  9. I think we all said the same thing, we shared his frustration and annoyance but it was unusual for Millgate to screw up and to talk to Luke about it. The OP then had a pop at us but we took it on the chin
  10. I appreciate that and it is most annoying, I just feel that a phone call to Millgate might be more beneficial. With regards to couriers, I know for a fact that they often don't bother turning up at schools during holidays and then claim there was no-one around. Give Luke a call and I'm sure he'll get it sorted for you (unless it's Luke who is on holiday) Edit: Just seen your reply. When we get credit notes our Bursar simply deducts the amount from the account. If a company ships the wrong or defective parts that need to be returned, they will often wait until they have them back before issuing a credit note, otherwise they might not see the returned goods. There are a lot of Millgate fans here but we would be as cross as you if the same happened to us. I was just trying to be helpful.
  11. Whilst I can appreciate your frustration, if you only emailed the Account Manager this morning and he is on holiday, then you can't really expect a response from them by 8.30am. I'm sure they will do everything they can to resolve your problem which is not typical. Have you tried calling them? Luke is my contact and I have found him to be very helpful.
  12. It seems the reseller got the licences from Ramesys and has proof of purchase. Ramesys is now owned by Capita and they say they can find no trace of it. The reseller has taken it up a level.
  13. Sat in the same bar (I'll be glad when our wifi is installed so I don't have to go out for a beer to go online!) Been decorating most of the day and more tomorrow. It's been warmer today, around 18C but a lot hotter in the direct sun. Went to Sagres yesterday to see the replica of Victoria, one of the first ships to sail around the world. Replica ship docks in Sagres to promote cultural tourism - The Portugal News Very interesting and free. There were loads of well behaved schoolkids.
  14. using their wifi and drinking a big beer. Weather is not brilliant but better then the UK.
  15. Policemen are worse than kids Well done and have fun. May you sit in the back room and catch lots of bad people.
  16. I'm sure we have them it's a question of where!
  17. A few years ago, we bought a load of computers from a reseller, including Office 2007 but we installed 2003 at the time. We are now in the process of updating these computers to Windows 7 and put Office 2007 on them. I couldn't find any trace of a licence agreement from the supplier and when I asked, they said it was with the invoice. Now there's as much chance of a camel passing through the eye of a needle as I have of tracking down invoices from that long ago and whilst I could force the issue, I don't want to make myself any more unpopular right now. The reseller has confirmed in writing that we purchased Office Pro Plus but I would really like to see a proper licence agreement. I'm assuming the reseller did it on their volume licence and I have asked them but I'm wondering if there's any other way that I can get the information?
  18. If you get Premier Elements through an Adobe Educational reseller, It's as cheap as chips. Around £35 when I bought it but that was a while ago. You can download a trial version from the Adobe website but it's a big file. If you are using the camera for anything where the audio is important then you really need an external mic. Trouble is, modern budget camcorders tend not to have a mic. socket. If I was in your position, I'd take a look on Ebay and see what's available second-hand. The Rode Videomic is a really good budget mic.
  19. how much do you want to spend? What formats do you want to edit?
  20. Sorry! What am I looking for?
  21. Thanks for the reminder, I forgot to put that on the list!
  22. The LEA has just come back to me to say they don't want us to use XP as they no longer test it.
  23. Is anyone running a mix of XP and Windows 7 on server 2008/12. We are about to upgrade the server but I have a feeling that not all of the old laptops will be replaced in time. So we may have some staff with Toshiba Satellite A200s (some with 512MB RAM) who will want to access the domain.
  24. A girl goes into ASDA and sees her new boyfriend stacking detergent. "Oi, you told me you were a stunt pilot!" "No, I said I was on an ariel display team"
  25. The reason is that they have discovered the original job description for priests that has been corrupted through centuries of copying. What it actually says is "Priests are required to celebrate Mass" and not "Priests are required to be celibate to perform Mass" The Pope doesn't want to be the one to explain.
