A special school is wanting to instruct a small number of pupils on the safe usage of mobile devices, mainly in composing SMS. They have a provision of iPad's, however I'm reluctant to utilise these, largely because they are supervised devices, locked down to prevent the obvious. Can anyone recommend anything that could be used for demo and practice that may fit the bill?

You need an APC Smart UPS, the model you have is designed for workstations. I'd suggest using that for switches and then procuring an enterprise UPS.

Given that Juniper bought Trapeze circa 2010, the hardware is all now legacy. What's the uplink speed controller side? Also the WAP capability will play a major factor. Not much help, but it reads to me like it might be time to look for new equipment.

I'm having difficulty getting the Mirror icon to display on iPad's when attempting to mirror with an Apple TV. I looked at all the obvious, like make sure the Apple TV is on the network. As the devices are under supervised with Configurator, I suspect it's configurator, however I need clarification before I go any further... Can anyone shed any light on this?

I've been trying to set-up email notifications within our antivirus admin console, however I'm informed AVG doesn't support notifications using SLL/ TLS. This software is up for renewal next year, so I'm keen to find out what others use and recommend and if other antivirus products support email notifications using SSL/ TLS. Thank you in advance

Can anyone tell me the current 'best practice' for the domain Administrator account? I've found this info, however not sure how valid it is. Microsoft Best Practices found on TechNet and MS Press' "Securing Windows Server 2008 R2" 1. Don't rename it. You'll waste your effort and (for backward compatibility) if you have any apps/services on your network that require the Admin account to function, they will break. 2. Disable the BUILTIN\Administrator. Renaming the account to create a honey pot for attackers is an outdated practice. Any cracker good enough to get this far into your network knows this ploy already. The cracker will just look for the SID ending in -500. 3. Create an account with a non-descript name and give it admin rights. That is, name the account "JohnBlack" or "BettyClark". Do not name the account something like Superman, Root, Skywalker, or anything with Admin or ADM in it like testadm or LocalAdmin. Programs that still look for the Admin account by name have evolved enough to check for these names too. 4. After you've created the account in step 3, NEVER USE IT! You can't audit Admin access, if you're using it as a regular account (aside from all the other reasons not to use it).
