We have Kyocera and Canon printers and some of the new print drivers require the codes to be put on the printers in advanced administrator settings and on the photocopier as well. If the codes are different or do not match you will run into problems.

Had it before, outdated disk supplied and after downloading the latest post script driver and changing the driver all things started to work.

We use bat files scheduled to shut all the student and staff systems down at 4:30 with a 10 minute warning and bat files to WOL at 8:30. By having multiple bat files we can change the times in case the systems are needed in some areas and not in others. Best of all it is all free.

Are other people are having problems with the SIMS SQL using most of the server resources and slow performance since the last update. Staff are complaining about speed issues and after looking at it the network traffic is fine, memory usage is fine but SQL is causing the processor to run at 80 to 97 percent. Before any asks we have exceeded the recommended server specs. Any help would be greatful.

I ran accross this and it was due to an incomplete installation. Check your SIMS directories and see if you if you have a temp directory from an installation if so it may be worth moving the temp install folder somewhere and trying the install again.

K9 filters by category and logs history as well. If a site is unrated you can add it to an allow list if you block unrated sites. I have it set-up with time restrictions for my son so he can not spend all day on youtube. A big + for K9 if you do not want to set-up another system just for filtering.

We created a folder called local docs on the root of C, then added a shortcut for all users on the desktop to the folder so when they are away from a network or not using remote access (TS) they save all the work into the folder. Have you set-up mirrored groups on your sonicwall? if not set them up and look at your gpo settings for the proxy server. Have you looked at the SonicWALL ADConnector?
