Ghost Stories I really wanted to like this one - a British film, in the great tradition of things like Tales of the Unexpected. But I couldnt Not very scary - other than the "making you jump" sort of scary. Stories were underwhelming and the twist at the end was...more like a bend really

Isle of Dogs Not that thrilled tbh

That's sort of the point. It's bizarre, silly, badly done in a lot of places, but overall just a huge amount of semi-ironic fun -

Neither my oven or my microwave shows the correct time. It is just too much hassle to change them so I don't bother. They are both showing times that are very unlikely to be true - eg 4am so I don't get confused by them

I do lots of equipment free stuff as well (although for someone who says equipment free, he uses a lot of props!) I use the website fitnessblender.com for a range of workouts from cardio to strength training

Still cold here with a bit of a wind. Snow mostly melted now though

I've just read Hex. Thought the end was disappointing

That's true - but he's not prepared to go the whole distance. The ice is melting here but there is a nasty wind and it is absolutely bitterly cold....Just thinking ahead to walking the dog..brrrrrr

@DaveP Just fall over and scream a bit then! You will have to go and have some x-rays etc but all will be well, and they will have shut the school anyway

Processing of special categories of personal data
witch replied to Narwhal's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Not sure this will fly. A school isnt doing a census and if you apply for a job that asks for your ethnicity they always allow you to "prefer not to say" so you are not legally obliged to state it. -
Freedom of Information request
witch replied to Jobos's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I was thinking more of this: "Staff time A public authority can charge for the time taken by its staff on the activities included in communicating the information. Regulation 7(5) indicates that staff time is to be charged at the flat rate of £25 per hour, irrespective of whether a higher rate is actually incurred by internal staff or charged by external contractor staff. A public authority can also charge for the time it takes a member of staff to actually redact the exempt information. This cost can be included because it is part of the costs of communicating the information under regulation 7. Regulation 7(5) of the Fees Regulations confirms that a public authority can only charge £25 per hour for this activity. For example, if it takes one employee 45 minutes to black out the information which is not to be disclosed then the public authority can charge £18.75 for this activity. " I would have said that "activities including in communicating the information" includes actually spending the time to dig out the relevant info in the first place As for the junk mail issue - you are right, schools need to think about things like this. -
Well go out there, slip and break a leg or something! Double whammy - they'll shut the school and you can sue for millions!!

Freedom of Information request
witch replied to Jobos's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
AFAIK we haven't had one either I'm not sure whether you understand how junk mail works in a school. Schools get many many emails headed "Freedom of Information Request" or similar which are often companies trying to sell solutions or forms or something or other to supposedly help schools with genuine requests. If we didnt have robust junk mail directives, the school would be snowed under by such stuff. It is indeed a shame if your emails go astray - perhaps you could come up with a different title? Are schools charging you for FOI requests? I absolutely believe that FOI is a good thing but I also know how much time they can take which detracts from the work a school must do every day. Recouping at least a bit of money could help. You are very very lucky if schools have chosen not to charge you - and I would like to see a bit less of a slightly sneery attitude from you and a bit more acknowledgement that many schools are doing their best to comply and NOT hitting your pocket - which they are entitled to do. -
We have had more overnight too. No snow day though, sadly, as most roads are fine. Carpark/playground is a sheet of ice though and the head is out there with a shovel. But the road outside is far worse as it is a very small residential road and hasnt been gritted.

We have around 5cm - bit less than last time but it isnt settling on hard surfaces properly either. It is snowing quite heavily too

Been trying to snow here on and off all day. Very cold - lots of wind chill. Took the dog out and the little...angel...saw deer on the golf course and he was off! Cue me having to hang around for 15 mins till he came back. Minus his nice warm sweatshirt (he is half whippet so very thin and gets chilled easily)
