We would always recommend a customer having a professional site survey, if it's a small school then at very least a predictive survey using some great software like Ekahau. They will be able to show you: Signal Strength Signal-to-Noise Ratio PHY Rates Signal Coverage Sources of Interference Data Rates Getting a company to do a survey also brings additional benefits, especially if they install the solution you're currently using, as they will know the best formula to making a rock solid wireless system that will deliver what you expect it to If you're not already engaged with a Ruckus reseller, if you have site plans, we could offer you a free predictive survey, so you have a better idea of where you should add APs in, or it could be just a case of upgrading some in certain areas. If your site is large and/or complex, you could then consider having an active survey. This way you would get more info on your current deployment, and advice from Ruckus expert before making a decision on AP models, counts and locations

The 10 AP promotion rewards end users that buy APs in packs of 10 with additional discount. It's similar to the old bundle promos, but without a controller. As i mentioned above, even if your count falls less than 10, premium resellers like us and others on this forum can take advantage of special EDU pricing so you still get a great deal. The easiest way for us to see which would be the cheapest option for you is to send over your kit list, we will then need to register your interest with Ruckus, if it get's approved we can review the best option for you.

Morning Steve, At present there are no promotions running as a number finished at the end of September. They will hopefully be announcing some new ones shortly. Last time they had a bundle promotion, rather than having the ZD and AP bundles together, they just did AP bundles and you could buy the ZD separately at a discounted price. Most recently they were running an trade-in promotion, where users could trade in any manufacturer APs for Ruckus at a discounted cost. Decrypting SSL is expensive in CPU time, especially as were are seeing more sites use 2048bit encryption. One solution is SSL inspection and selective decryption which is offered on the iboss SWG. Inspection looks at the SSL/TLS certs to determine if the base domain should be allowed or not. You can then fully decrypt the traffic based on a selective list – for example just decrypt Google and YouTube. We have seen that the proxy on a single iboss appliance can handle decryption of over 1500 simultaneous users without any significant speed impact, and of course all other traffic uses the Layer 2 bridge so still runs at wire speed.

Lightspeed offers the following SSL methods: 1. Block all SSL traffic 2. Block/Allow the traffic based on the SSL cert or TLS SNI data (if available) 3. Decrypt all SSL traffic on the proxy As many sites are starting to enforce SSL (such as Google removing the NOSSL servers last month), this means there is a lot of potential traffic for the proxy server method used for Man in the Middle SSL decryption, negating some of the speed benefits of operating as a Layer 2 network bridge. With LS, if you wish to filter on Google searches (pretty mandatory) it means that you need option 3. Iboss offers all of these methods, but crucially also has a patent around selective SSL decryption, for example filtering based on SSL/TLS (as in 2), but then fully decrypting certain sites (I.e. Google.*). In order to achieve this with LS, they have to employ and additional third party loadbalancer device to selectively route specific SSL traffic to a separate proxy. Hello, i've just had quick word with one of our WLAN techs. The approach that @X-13 has listed is the right one. The problem you will get is the 3000 box won't store historical logs, unless these are being backed up elsewhere on your network. In terms of Ruckus there's very little you can do to track the missing iPad down at this point, sorry.

An alternative solution to consider would be the iboss cloud based MDM solution that can be used independently of the local authority web filter and is only £4 per year or £10 for 3 years per device. If in the future you choose to pair it with an iboss SWG filter then you also get full web filtering on your devices, with the same per user policies on or off the campus network. The iboss MDM features include Apple volume licensing, automatic device enrolment (DEP), filtered app stores and support for Andorid, iOS and OSX. Additionally you can do the usual stuff such as remote wipe of lost/stolen devices, geolocation, removal of unapproved apps, and disabling of device functions such as cameras and more.
