@rpain would you consider looking at alternative switch solutions at all? We supply Allied Telesis, Juniper Networks and Brocade into the EDU market. The Allied Telesis portfolio in particular has been popular and moved a lot of people away from HP. If it was of interest, I can arrange for one of our engineers to get in touch and discuss your requirements, and based on that conversation put forward an alternative solution.

To keep you all updated, Broadcom has announced that it will be proceeding with the purchase of Brocade for $5.5 billion to expand its fibre channel and data storage business. Due to competitive overlap with some of Broadcom’s customers, Broadcom will be selling the Ruckus and IP Networking side of the business once the purchase has gone through. It would seem that this is to be kept as a combined sale. The sale is not due to happen for some time yet, we’re looking into the depths of 2017. I’m sure more will come on this over the next few days, weeks and months. In the short term, what does this mean to Ruckus customers, and those looking at purchase the solution? In short, it remains to be seen. However, we have been given confidence that everything is business as usual. Ruckus has always been a great wireless solution and has been profitable for Ruckus and Brocade. Ruckus resellers will continue to support our customer bases as we have been. We don’t foresee any problems in them finding the right buyer. The team behind the Ruckus name remains the same so we will continue to see great products coming out. We're a MOBOTIX house and have been installing it into a number of schools. We are often able to reduce cameras in certain locations by covering a larger area from a single unit, to get you the most of our your available budget. The 360 hemispheric lens, for example, is capable of recording a whole room. The image can then be split into a more usable image for the everyday viewing without losing any of the detail needed, the image can also be split into 4 sections to monitor 4 different areas if required, doing the job of multiple cameras. All the 360 degree cameras offer additional analytics services, such as heat mapping and people counting at no extra cost to enable. If you were interested in taking a closer look, we can look at getting some equipment out to you all set-up to play with.

We are able to offer a range of cameras that can be ceiling, wall or corner mounted with a variety of lens types dependant on what is needed to be recorded. All the cameras come with two way audio should it be needed and 6MP image quality. The 360 hemispheric lens will give a fish eye image and is recording all of the room all of the time. Your image can then be split into a more usable image for the everyday viewing without losing any of the detail needed, the image can also be split into 4 sections to monitor 4 different areas if required, doing the job of multiple cameras. Non-hemispheric lenses can only show the image size of the lens and is not able to be split into 4.

Hello, Generally I find redirects on most platforms don't work if the user is trying to go to an ssl site as a first site because the ssl is not broken into to then inject an alternative site such as a captive portal. Morning all, I have been asked by one of our partners, Brocade, for the top 3 reasons why schools look to make changes to their current network infrastructure. Rather than fumble some response together, I thought i'd come to the source, and seek some advice from the EduGeek community So I ask you, what makes you looks to make changes to your network? Is it perhaps to upgrade your edge to 1gb, or perhaps your core to 10gb (even 40gb?), better support for current devices, better network visibility using network management tools? Hi @smithson83 what is the distance between the buildings? We have just been looking at putting a short range P2P link between two building with a 1GB link each way, depending on budget there are a few options it seem. I think the Ubiq airFiber 24 needs the distance to be over 100m. It seems that you can get it working at a shorter distance but it required a lot of config. You could look at something like the Fastback V1000 for a sub 100 metre link, more expensive that the Ubiq. Ruckus has their P300 solution, that has a theoretical max link of 500mb. It includes: - - Provision of Pupils, Staff and Teacher groups and policies - AD sync for single sign on and multiple AD group based polices and reports eg YouTube can be accessed by Teachers but not by Pupils. - Access to Management GUI – link and password provided for either school to use or Net Ctrl or eSafety4schools as part of the Managed service. - User documentation - Comprehensive reporting - Adherence to the governments PREVENT strategy - Own school allow/deny list - Customisable deny page to incorporate the school’s logo, motif and AUP - Embedded web threat scanning capabilities, capable of identifying and blocking zero-hour and known web-borne viruses, spyware, malware and other forms of malicious code We are able get free evaluations for you to try the solution. Ruckus will be able to handle your user counts. The ZoneFlex R500 for example is capable of supporting up to 500 clients per access point, this equates to 250 users on each radio (2.4GHz & 5GHz) and this is with no encryption overhead(Open WLAN). When there is encryption overhead, such as WPA2, AES etc, this number will drop to approx. 100 per radio, 200 in total. In heavy media usage situations this will again drop, but we have seen these comfortably support 100 (50 per radio) media heavy laptops at any one time in a school environment.

After re-reading your post, you're probably more likely to require a post installation survey. Like the Pre-Deployment Site Survey, this requires a trained engineer to visit your site and run a series of tests with specialist software capable of interpreting your wireless (RF) signal in order to analyse your WLAN. You’ll receive a set of heat maps for your site providing an accurate visual representation of the coverage, connectivity and capacity of your new WLAN. It will also highlight any areas that may need additional coverage, as well as any potential problem areas. Ideally you want an engineer that specialises in the solution you have installed.

Hello in terms of wireless surveys, there a various options. You have a predictive survey, this requires a copy of your site plans and a description of your built environment, which is then fed into a specialist wireless simulation tool to create a virtual model of your predicted RF environment. Once we have modelled the predicted RF environment of your site we place virtual access points in different location to then estimate your expected signal strength, signal-to-noise ratio and coverage. We will then adjust the AP count and locations in order to create a WLAN designed for your environment that will allow you to achieve your wireless goals. Then you have pre-deployment site surveys. There are three different types of Pre-Deployment Site Surveys, Active Surveys, Passive Surveys and Hybrid Surveys. An Active Survey uses an adapter to measure packets in two directions (send and receive), it is then associated with a number of access points and used to measure round trip times, throughput rates etc. The Active Survey is great for analysing a wireless set-up. A Passive Site Survey, uses a wireless adapter that is not associated to any WLANs but will passively listen to the wireless traffic. These are great for system design purposes. The Hybrid Site Survey, which is the Pre-Deployment Survey we perform, combines both the active and passive site surveys together to provide both the engineer and client with the most amounts of data possible. The Hybrid Survey is extremely accurate and should be carried out if you’re planning a new wireless network for any large or complex sites. Hope that all makes sense. HI @timbo343. Try this. Take the AP off your network and factory reset the AP. Access the AP on it's default IP 192.168.0.1. Try upgrading its firmware to standalone FW 100.x. Then put it back on your network. I would also delete the AP from the ZD before putting it back on your network.
