No because having an MIS is essential to the school running. What isn't essential is uploading all the data to the cloud just to make the data collection sheet a bit easier to do.

I've looked all around "Printers" and "Devices" in PaperCut and can't find any settings to do with quality, Eco or otherwise. Where are they please?

Our school office lady wants to use this app basically instead of sending out the data collection sheet. The data collection sheet is an essential thing to do, but I'd argue that it is not essential to do it using the app, therefore permission is needed.

I'll try setting a new queue up and see what happens. Might even try it with the 'wrong' driver and see if it works better. Copy quality is fine, no icons, and an engineer has given it a service recently and the all clear. Like what? I couldn't see any which would effect quality.

We have a bunch of Sharp MFDs around the place with Papercut. With one of them, if we print colour to the "Follow You" queue (which uses a driver not specifically for our library printer as it has to cover different models) the picture comes out fine. If we print a colour picture directly to the library printer which uses the correct driver, it comes out quite bleached. The colours certainly aren't as bold. We've sat and compared as many settings as we can between the different drivers. It just seems really odd that it's the correct driver which has the problem. Any thoughts please? Stuart

So do I, but when Capita say all of my data just being "uploaded to the cloud" it makes me nervous. I'm sure it is all above board, but I like to evidence how and where in the cloud it is when people ask me.

I'm having difficulty finding technical stuff about the SIMS Parent Lite App. How does it work? Where is data stored? How/when does it get to wherever it is stored? All I can find is "It's great" and "Here's a demo of the App". Thank you Stuart

I have a 12 year old who is in the scouts. He has been at scout camp a couple of times and has now asked me if he can have a knife. If I get him one, he will only use it supervised, and I will keep it somewhere safe for him when it isn't in use, but has anyone got any tips on what sort of knife I should get him? I don't know about these things. He wants to be able to make a bit of kindling, and shape a bit of wood in to a spoon etc. Not looking to spend loads, but at the same time I know there's no point me buying him something which is so cheap that it's blunt the first time he uses it. Presumably swiss army knives generally aren't strong enough unless you spend big £s? Stuart

We told SCC we are leaving and not giving notice as they changed the service so drastically that it is no longer what we signed up to. We haven't heard anything back.

I'd have thought refusing to give that info would just make you look even more guilty.

Is the firewall on or off? If it's on, turn it off and see if it then works. If it does, turn it back on and figure out what exceptions you need.

Yup, if I log on as a user who doesn't get that GP, all is fine.

Only hidden the C drive. No registry keys done at all. I try and keep away from them. I always feel they're messy, don't know why.....

Explorer opens, but there isn't a thing in it called "This PC". I have "Quick Access" and "Network". Of course, the network drives are listed under "This PC" so whilst they may be mapped (and I believe they are as I could see them before I made a bunch of changes) I can't get to them as I can't see "This PC".

That may solve the "due to restrictions" message on pictures etc, but doesn't answer why I can't see my network drives. I assume I can't see them as "Computer" doesn't appear for me to expand and see them.

I'm setting up a new bunch of group policies ready for when we go to Windows 10, rather than tweaking my original ones. Now when I log on as a student the only mapped drive I can see is my home drive, "Computer" isn't visible, and if I click on the links which say "documents", "pictures", etc they say I can't due to restrictions in place. I can browse my home drive fine. I've obviously turned off something I shouldn't, but can't find it. Any thoughts please? Stuart
