I ran; DCDIAG /TEST:DNS /v /s:dhs-dc-01 dhs-dc-01 is my original 2012 one.It produced this (and a lot more, this is the highlights though); It says it can't contact x.x.x.11, which is my newly built 2016 DC, and it can't contact x.x.x.18 which is one of my old DCs which I un-dcpromo'd and removed DNS from. 1. Why is it remembering the old one? And how do I tell it not to? 2. Why isn't it remembering the other old one which was x.x.x.8? If I run DCDIAG /TEST:DNS /v /s:dhs-dc-02 then it reports all is fine. A few weeks ago I demoted two server 2008 DCs I had and built a new 2016 DC. I already had an existing 2012 DC which has remained. Everything seemed to be fine. I've now tried to change a group policy and it's not having any affect. I've done some digging. When running a GP Results wizard I get; and on either of my DCs when I run dcdiag I get messages like; and Now I'm guessing DNS issues as these things normally are, but I can't figure it out. Both DCs are DNS servers, and are my only DNS servers. Any thoughts please? I'm concerned everyone is back in a couple of days....... Stuart

I just use CSVDE. Get the csv file right and then it's just "csvde -i -f filename.csv".

My head uses a Mac. She has the PaperCut client running on it. My IT Tech did something last week as she was having trouble printing and now the client is logged in as him. How do I get it logged on as the head again? He's on holiday now so I can't ask him...... Stuart

At the moment I'm looking at £30 fuel, around £20 parking and £5 for the Dartford crossing. I've not even looked at whether the congestion charge is involved. Train from home town return for the both of us off-peak is around £45 total. Hmmmm......

Because I'd assumed the train for the two of us would be dramatically more expensive, but as we're probably travelling off-peak there may not be a lot in it.

I'm off to the o2 to see walking with dinosaurs with my 12 year old on Wednesday at 3pm. I want to drive as much of it as possible and shall be approaching it by coming down the A12. Any suggestions as to the best places to park, even if it's park away from it a bit and then tube/bus the rest? Thank you Stuart

I got that bit, but just couldn't see if they were focussed.

I tried taking some photos of the stars last night and nothing was in focus. I have a Canon 1000D. 30second exposure. They are too small in the viewfinder to tell if they're focussed, and auto-focus just seemed to be buzzing forward and back. Tips? Stuart

I've linked (what I assume due to their titles) are the installers for SIMS and FMS, and the upgrades for SOLUS. There isn't a SOLUS3 under a heading titled "Installable release".

Hi all, I want to move SIMS, FMS and SOLUS3 off my aging 2008 server in to a new one. I've found documentation from Capita's website, but as usual it's rubbish. The one about migrating SOLUS 3 helpfully says; Fabulous. How do I actually install SOLUS 3 on the new server?? I've got the downloads page (https://myaccount.capita-cs.co.uk/Notifications/SIMS-Release-Download-Links/) which gives installable releases of SIMS .net and FMS, and only upgrades to SOLUS 3. Can anyone help me please? Thank you Stuart

It's already virtual, and it's running Server 2008 so I'd like to get shot of it anyway. Everything else here is at least 2012 R2. I'll give that a go, but it isn't run locally. It doesn't use any SQL or IIS or anything daft then? Yup, MLS. Could be useful thanks. Stuart

Morning, We use Eclipse2 here and it's installed in a DC running 2008. I'd like to get it off a DC because the DC needs replacing with a newer OS, and because it shouldn't be on a DC anyway! Unsurprisingly I can find very little about how to move it. Does anyone know? Does anyone have an installer for it? Are we finally going to have to bite the bullet and pay some money on a newer version? Thank you Stuart

Completely agree about the concern. I have two Echos at home but that's my choice and wouldn't dream of putting one in a classroom! When you suggested that article is fake news, that would imply that you think the article saying how it actually works is lying, therefore implying you think it records more than they suggest.

Not in the slightest. It thought it heard the wake word so then started recording, but it doesn't just record everything.

How open are you with your suppliers about other suppliers? I regularly get "What have other people quoted?" which for me may as well be "What price do I need to beat by a fiver?". Do you tell people about other quotes? Do you tell them who else has quoted if they ask? There are times it's useful to say "I can get it for this much" in the hopes someone will drop their price further..... Stuart

I fail to see why if I'm spending £12k they can't waive the £7.99 as a gesture. They're making quite enough money off me already. 1 PC they aren't making loads of money off me, so there's a delivery charge. Makes sense to me.

FTFY I haven't raised a ticket about the patch, but that's because I've emailed them twice about it and had no response at all so I don't have a ticket!

The only DFE Guidance I can find says to do that if they have been accepted in to 6th Form. We don't have one. Knowing my office lady, that won't be good enough for her. Can you point me to the one you mean please?

What's people's stance on paying postage on things you order? I get there is a cost, and someone has to pay it, but it always annoys me when I'm ordering £12K worth of new kit and at the bottom is "Delivery - £20" or something. I've just asked for a quote for 30 refurb PCs and that has "Delivery - £100 for two pallets" on it. Do you pay it without question? Do you have your own cut-off where you get grumpy about it? My usual supplier knows me very well and actually emailed me the other day to say there was quite a postage cost on something I've just ordered, and would I mind going halves with her! Stuart
