I went with a new database as the old one was messy and I wanted to start from an empty one. I have since posting this migrated my SOLUS database over and deleted all the computers from it, which made FMS appear in SOLUS3. I now have a different issue though where on the screen "Environment" -> "Configure Workstations" the "connect.ini" has the wrong server instance and I can't change it. It says the old server name. I haven't looked in to this one yet, but am going to start today.

It no longer lists it. I may well just move DHCP over to the other DC, it just concerns me it stopped working, and is there anything else underneath which isn't working either? Replication and DNS seem fine, so I'm hoping I'm OK.

Yes, a few times. I have also just noticed that if I "unauthorize" it, it stays showing as authorized in the GUI. If I try and unauthorize it again it says "The parameter is incorrect" and it is only when I restart the service it actually updates the GUI. No amount of "refresh" sorts it, it has to be a service restart.

I do have half a dozen of these in the logs; And have found results when Googling ranging from unhelpful to "You can ignore this".

Two DCs on site. Both Server 2016. One is a DHCP server. Did a bunch of updates yesterday and now it won't hand out IP addresses. Everything on the server indicates all is well, nothing in the event logs (apart from IPv6 being a dynamic address) but when doing an "ipconfig /renew" on a client it says the DHCP request timed out. This is wireless or wired. If I make the other a DHCP server (which I haven't done updates on!), that works fine. This obviously points to an update, but I can't find anything indicating one may have an issue, and I haven't done updates on it since mid April so it pulled a few in. Wondered if anyone had an idea before I start uninstalling them one-by-one? Stuart

My son has one and loves it. They are brilliant. We bought his for £299 from Amazon. 11 months later the thumb stick on the left controller started drifting slightly. We got in touch with Amazon and they just refunded the entire £299! Bought a new controller for £70 and kept the change!

P.S. My Dad didn't like Apple so my Mum won't have an iPhone.

My Mum needs a new mobile. She currently has (and has had for years, I think it's running android 4.4) a Samsung. Happy to spend between £150-£200. Doesn't need an exceptional anything, just to work when she presses stuff. I was looking at the Samsung A13 but lots of people seem to say it's slow. Doesn't have to be a Samsung but familiar territory preferred of course. Any tips or good deals atm? Stuart

Morning, A few months ago we stopped paying for FMS as we are moving to a new finance system. I am now setting up a new SIMS server and of course we need to maintain our FMS system for a while longer. ESS have confirmed to me that we are absolutely allowed to carry on using FMS, we just aren't entitled to support or further updates. On my new server there is no mention of FMS in SOLUS3. There still is on the old server, it just understandably doesn't offer me the latest releases to download, but when doing a new install it only gives you the bits you've paid for. I'm currently in conversation with ESS, but they are simply saying use SOLUS2 to deploy it which I'd rather not. Shot in the dark, but anyway know a way of making it appear? As mentioned - ESS have confirmed this is not a licensing issue and that I am not trying to get something I am not legally allowed otherwise it would have removed it from my old server, just mechanically not allowed. Is there something in an INI file, or putting certain files in folders which will make it appear? Thank you Stuart

BD PROCHOT was forcing the processor to run at about 40MHz. (Yes, four zero). We've turned it off which obviously means the processor will fry if it gets too hot rather than shut down the laptop, but it's a six year old device which will run office and a bit of Internet. I'm not overly concerned.......

We have around 40 HP G3 450 laptops which we've been very happy with and most are still working great. We have 4 which are ridiculously slow to do anything at all though, and I mean anything. We're booting them off a USB to live disk and they're still slow so it clearly isn't drivers or background apps/services. We've fired one up in to Hirens and it reports all four cores of the CPU regularly going up over 50% usage while it's doing nothing. Any thoughts? Thank you Stuart

Morning, Is there a way to actually test if GoToWebinar is going to work? Their web based tester doesn't appear to check for a proxy or filters, and the .exe just said something vague along the lines of "I can't find correct settings". Is there a test webinar I can connect to before the real webinar my member of staff needs to be in this afternoon as I don't want to have to troubleshoot it when they're supposed to be in it! I'm going BenQ 75" boards at the moment. They work, and for me the software that comes with any board is irrelevant as 90% of the staff won't use it anyway no matter how good it is. They're decent boards and ProActive sell them to me fitted, including cabling etc., for a good price.

We were with Sharp who were good. When we renewed, AltoDigital (with Xerox devices) promised the earth at a reasonable price. Shocking..... If you're happy with Sharp, stay with Sharp.
