Morning, We have a Wi-Fi network with a hidden SSID. I added it to our five tills and they're all happy, apart from one where I inadvertently mis-typed the password. It has now remembered that and I cannot for the life of me find where to remove it again. I added another connection to the hidden SSID with the correct password, but it refuses to connect. I'm assuming it is continuing to try to connect with the wrong password so I'd like to remove it from it's memory! Stuart

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Just to 101% confirm it's these devices, do the searches stop if you disconnect them from the network? -
Yep, they do. You speak to any security people and the recommendation is absolutely not to though. If you get hit by something, you'll believe MS are wrong in this advice as well. If there weren't bad people in the world then 100% domain join your hosts.
-
This is not the recommended, and anyone who has been hit by a ransomware attack will tell you why.........
-
Morning, Do you have your Hyper-V hosts as standalone devices, or in their own domain? Obviously their own domain means setting up another domain just for them, but it does enable live migrations. I appreciate we're not constantly moving servers from host to host, but it is handy at times! Stuart

'afternoon, My son is going to a concert at the Electric Ballroom, Camden High Street, London. He's seeing someone I've never heard of cos I'm old. He said about going on the train with a couple of friends and staying in a hotel. They are all 16/17. Rather then all that expense and me having to be at home with his Mum while she does nothing but worry about him, I said I'd drive them down, wait, and then drive them home. Should cost about 30 quid in diesel rather than goodness knows how much on three train tickets and a hotel! Ill be coming from Suffolk. I've not driven in London in years, and certainly never Camden! I'm aware of the ULEZ but realistically, what are my chances of driving to the actual Electric Ballroom and dropping him there? Assume I know nothing!!! (Although that may be plainly obvious from my post anyway.......) Thank you Stuart

I've DM'd you, but my request was basically "What additional services do you offer for network protection" and this was the response, and the offer of a WatchGuard AV quote. And the point still stands of why is logging firewall traffic an option if it costs nothing? Maybe I should have checked when we signed up that you do log the firewall traffic, but when logging is such a big part of the service provided for obvious reasons around student/staff Internet activity you kind of assume........ I also replied to the ticket and have had no response.

SchoolsBroadband didn't have logging on our firewall on. This came up when I asked them the other day about any other services they provided. They replied with; I mean, if it's a free service, why isn't it already on logging? It's not even that they were logging stuff but we as customers can't get to the logs, there simply are no logs. I strongly advise any SBB customers to get in touch and check it's on. Stuart

Things that could have been improved before being approved...

The dimensions of tyres has always impressed me - millimetres, inches and a percentage!! -
I usually run at 16, but definitely don't do it cos of my comment. I'm just pleased I've got the option to play on a server with others. Quite happy using bobby which will mean the server has more grunt available if people start making big farms and stuff.
-
The render distance on the server isn't magnificent, so I play with a mod called "Bobby". It downloads the chunks and loads them locally meaning you can play with a much higher render distance than the server would allow. Picture from the top of the mob spawner;

You could always use Litematica? If you could save schematics of your builds, it's then just a case of gathering the resources on the server and rebuilding them. I don't mind a bit of mining and grinding to get things to help out.

Not wishing to put EduGeek out of business, but I literally copied your post and pasted it in to chatgpt. I can take no real credit.

Its because you're using "or". "22*" are notlike 21 so are included, and "21*" and notlike 22 so are included. You need parentheses.; Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Where-Object { -not ($_.Name -like "22*" -or $_.Name -like "21*") }

Our PaperCut install looks to the Secondary "Card/Identity numbers" field when we beep badges. No idea why, always thought it odd, but is that where yours is looking?

When I decommission the old server, how 'decommissioned' does it become? I ask as staff who have left are all in a different database from current staff. Do I need to move them to my new server so that I can access them if necessary, or would I still be able to access the data somehow if I just kept the VM and spun it up in an event? Or do I need to archive the data off some other how? Or could I just keep the last complete backup of it?
-
Lots more mailboxes moved, and (as far as I can tell) everything is working both on and off site! Thanks for the help, and the nudge to just be brave and do it!
-
All student mailboxes moved to the new server, and the port forward request has been put in to change the firewall to point at my new server
-
I have more sets. I'll drop you another over. Do you want a nether portal near your base for easier access to other places? If you make one, we'll link it with one up on the nether roof. Also, the rates on the creeper farm are terrible. You get more gunpowder from the normal mob farm. I think I built it too high up. I might tear it down and build it lower.
-
Perhaps I'll bite the bullet and move all the students over as they aren't logging in during the hols to see how long that takes. I've jigged all the internal DNS already, it's literally just the port forwards on the firewall that need doing. I'm just being a wuss because there's no way of testing if it's going to work, you just need to do it and find out if it does or not!
-
This is partly an unknown as I simply don't know how long these things take! If it's just a case of tell it to move everyone over, point the firewall at the new server and job's a goodun then great, but how long does it take to move 700GB of email from one server to another? I just need to make sure whatever I do, we don't miss any emails. Downtime for clients is obviously acceptable as there are times it's inevitable, but I'd rather it was a short time per person and have a coexistence, than days for everyone and missing external emails as they can't deliver for some reason.

I'm making progress. If I try and log in to a mailbox which is on the new server but via the old servers /owa, it auths me and then tells me to use the URL for the new server. It doesn't work round the other way though. If I try to log in to a mailbox which is still on the old server but via the new servers /owa, it gives me "This page isn't working. HTTP ERROR 500". Any thoughts please?
-
If you head on over to my base (I think the co-ords are on the board at spawn), I've got a chest of armour, weapons, etc. Help yourself from there if you need anything as it's all spare. If I can get on later I'll leave you some rockets, wings and shulker shells if you like?
-
I have now found that my admin account does have a mailbox. It's on the old server. moving it to the new server so that should solve that one at least! As an aside from that though, I thought if I was trying to log in to the server which didn't contain the mailbox, it should tell me? Certainly if I try and log in to my migrated mailbox using the 2010 server it gives me a link to the new server saying to log in there instead. Shouldn't the new one either proxy it, or tell me to use the old server?
-
Yup that works. I want to log in with my admin account which doesn't have a mailbox. Do I need to set it one up on the new server in order to log in to the Exchange Admin Center?
