Nope. I just logged in a few times, couldn't find anyone so logged off again. It's been a long time. Next time I log in I could well be in the middle of someone's base!

Lovely, thanks. I'll check it out again. Have you co-ords of places in case? @localzuk - Will it be going 1.20.1? I only ask as I run "fabulously optimized" and it takes a while to configure it. Didn't want to get it all working and then have to redo it!

Are there many who use this? If so, whereabouts are you? I've logged in a couple of times (Not for a while to be fair) and couldn't find any sign of life!

Microsoft Teams, bulk creation using PowerShell
Jawloms replied to ScottD536's topic in Cloud Services
I seem to remember that you can't create Teams as a "Class" using PowerShell. Hopefully I've either got that wrong, or they've fixed it by now. I have scripts to Archive Teams and to rename Teams if you're interested? We rename our "Year 7 Geography" to "Year 8 Geography" for example. -

Don't you just "Save As" and choose XML in the drop down to save, and right click the file and choose "Open With" -> "Excel" to open an XML?

For £5.5k we got; And have been very happy with it, but that was three years ago. hpclaser.co.uk

^^ This. Packaged software is largely irrelevant here.

I'd say you've tried and been unable at this point. Like @Cazab says - you don't want anyone pointing the finger at you for losing them, even though you clearly didn't.

Leave this to complete now you've started it, but in future try running the shrinkdblog thingy beforehand.

Things that could have been improved before being approved...
Jawloms replied to 6Foot2's topic in Jokes/Interweb Things
I saw the same for powergenitalia many years ago. Can't remember if it was true or a joke, and I'm not Googling whilst in a school to find out! -
It appears the repair and defrag have actually worked! It's mounted again and mail is flowing once more. No errors in the event logs. I'm now going to tell it to move all mailboxes in to a new database....... Thanks to all.
-
Currently waiting for a defrag to finish...... Lengthy!
-
I've literally just gone and told SLT I'm off at 4 as normal and will pick it up over the weekend!
-
Not sure I can clean unmount as my restored exchange can't see AD, so EMC won't work. I'm going to let the defrag finish on the live server and you never know, that may fix it anyway! Failing that, I've now got copies of my backups so I can try various things moving forward. Gah!
-
My restore has now restored and there are no errors around the disk in the logs, so it looks like the backup was made minutes before the problem started. I've restored it to a different physical server. I'm assuming the option now is to unmount the database from my restored server, copy it to the live server and mount it on there? Is it just the edb file, and is it really that simple?? Something which may affect that is that I started running eseutil commands on the live one to try and fix the database whilst waiting for the restore. It's currently doing a defrag which obviously I can't interrupt! I guess I could unmount the SLT database from the live server and move it to my restored one?

In the meantime, what's happening to external emails which are coming in? Will they be being queued somewhere, or will everything believe they have been delivered so we could end up completely missing them?
-
I'm now at that awkward stage where I'm waiting for things to happen, so don't look busy.

Currently restoring and just watching a progress bar. Thanks for the link. It's not an Exchange aware backup which throws in another curveball.
-
Thanks for your help. I actually have a hybrid setup and was going to move it all up to the cloud, but now MS have switched off basic auth I can't go straight from 2010 SP3 up to the cloud. I have setup an Exchange 2016 server which I intend to use as a stepping stone during a holiday, and then up to O365, but it's not holiday now!
-
It isn't Exchange aware, it's literally just a straight backup of the VM. I'm currently restoring it to a different VM, it's just the putting it back in a live server I could do with an article or detailed guidance on. The host wasn't reporting any issues when I checked it earlier. Gonna keep an eye though!

So it appears on my Exchange 2010 SP3 server that one of my databases has become corrupt. My backup process backs up the entire VM using free Veeam. If I restore last nights backup, how do I then get the one database off it and put it on the live server? Google isn't helping as all I can find is about restoring using Windows Backup, but obviously I didn't backup using that. Or am I better off taking the server down now so the people on the working databases don't do much more, and restore the lot?

In my event log at 20:56 lsat night I have; Information Store (6584) Staff: An attempt to write to the file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Staff\Staff.edb" at offset 323207364608 (0x0000004b40a90000) for 0 (0x00000000) bytes failed after 0 seconds with system error 665 (0x00000299): "The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation ". The write operation will fail with error -1022 (0xfffffc02). If this error persists then the file may be damaged and may need to be restored from a previous backup. For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. Closely followed by hundreds of; At '18/05/2023 20:56:41' database copy 'Staff' on this server appears to have a serious I/O error. To help identify the specific failure, consult the Event log on the server for other storage and "ExchangeStoreDb" events. Service recovery was attempted by failover to another copy. Failover was unsuccessful in restoring the service. Error: There is only one copy of this mailbox database (Staff). Automatic recovery is not available. My Veeam backup of the entire VM finished at 20:46. I hoping that means the backup is good, and not the cause! Guess I'm restoring......

We're running Exchange 2010 SP3 (Yes, I know) and it appears that email isn't working for everyone on a particular database. My SLT is working, but my staff can't send or receive emails. The Outlook client says it's connected, but if you send an email it appears to go, then a second later an non-delivery message appears in your inbox, but then disappears instantly. The email you sent is not in your Sent Items folder, and the NDR is nowhere to be found. OWA again appears to work as you can see your mailbox, but if you try and delete anything it says the item could not be found, and trying to send an email just says an error occurred. Restarted the Information Store service and rebooted the server. Now off to delve in to the logs........ Errrm..... Help?!
