  1. There's the rub
  2. The invite email address is there from when the data was first pushed through. It's not live. So if you send an invite to a user with no email address, and wait for the online data to refresh, only then will you see an email address if it's on SIMS in school. Confusing. Hell yes. Re-invite... You can only re-invite users that haven't yet been invited. So you shouldn't see yourself as you're already in. [emoji16]
  3. Couldn't believe that deal when I saw it. Great price.
  4. The Nokia 8 is £219.99 at John Lewis today https://www.johnlewis.com/nokia-8-smartphone-android-5-3-4g-lte-sim-free-64gb/p3329015?s_afcid=af_47868&tmad=c&awc=1203_1542043341_91e1d6453ba88a53ca7964dba0b196ce&tmcampid=48
  5. Me too. How do you do that??
  6. People are expecting to use the UK base to get their Chinese purchased phones supported.
  7. Poco F1 now 245.83 for the 6/128 version https://m.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_009492488405.html?wid=1349303&utm_source=tt_de&aid=171752
  8. £231 at Ailiexpress for the Poco F1 Has been as low as £213.60 Both the 6Gb/64Gb version The camera is the F1s weak point tho IIRC. (although isn't it the same as in the Mi Mix 2S and Mi 8?)
  9. Sammy S8s are going for £250+ refurbished from resellers right now. Great camera plus removable storage.
  10. Yep good film. Quite emotional. I was gripped. The Hate U Give Liked this too. Moving to a degree, although I didn't think that it successfully made a point, if that point was that black people are treated worse by police. Of course you're going to treat someone who looks and acts like a gang member differently to someone who looks "square" to use a 60s expression. You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and of course always err on the side of caution in a threatening situation. Maybe you could shoot to disable first rather than shoot to kill. The ludicrousy of public gun ownership doesn't help.
  11. Complained about the exact same thing to Capita. It's ridiculous that the App doesn't pass through behaviour data from the simple input method: right click register > behaviour > select type ...the App misses off class and teacher. Official answer: you have to go in the long way around: Focus > Behaviour Management > Student Behaviour > Search for the class > pick off pupils... Same with Homework I don't thik Capita have heard of reasonable workload
  12. The Meg - I laughed at the absurdety of Jason Stratham spearing the thing to death. Enjoyed the movie tho'. Johnny English - yes hillarious. I must have been in the right mood. Would watch again. First Man - the most boring movie I've ever seen I think A star is born - such a letdown after the trailor. No story at all. Should've walked out.
  13. A colleage says it's down to firmware - the spiking is a known issue?
  14. I haven't seen such granular control over invites. For parents you can't even see which pupils they're guardians of. You can only edit your own details. I can't remember but I think only P1 contacts are invited to the app. The "Only self" option is to hide information from spouses. That's a global setting strangely. Parental consent section.. see attached screenshot. Consent collection: correct
  15. * can we add our own choice of fields, including user-defined fields, to what the parents see? Don't think so? * when both parents live with the child, can they see and update their partner's details? You can only edit your own or the child's details if you have permission * with separated parents, does it hide their ex's details? See screenshot * would separated parents see all the emergency contacts' details? See above * is it possible to set up and initially only invite a few parents for final testing? Yes All SIMS contacts are uploaded. You can select down to individual level who to invite
  16. Liked it a lot too. Different take on a Marvel movie I thought.
  17. With the building frustration I increased the rate of complaints, commenting on my own jobs with updates and screenshots. Don't know if that helped but I certainly got some action, if initially just a phone call... admittedly an hour long phone call. Speed seems to have improved dramatically since yesterday. Apparently only users who haven't already registered make it to the re-invite list, and you can at least order the email column by double clicking the header.
  18. I think we'll get a few candidates lined up to decide where we go next. Thanks for the suggestion.
  19. Edulink looks so much better, and seems to actually work. Our bursar is wanting to pull the plug in March but I want a refund now as it's never worked for us.
  20. As new sign ups we've been having horrendous problems with SIMS Parent App. 1. Connecting to it is constantly timing out. This past week, especially at peak times, no one is able to log in. Apparently that's Azure's fault as capacity should increase to meet demand. The service status page is meaningless as it's retrospective. 2. The web admin page to manage users is primarily a report function. Half our users somehow don't have email addresses. You can re-invite those without email addresses and sometimes the users emails will be populated, so you can invite them for a 3rd time and this time an email will be sent. You don't know which ones these are, unless you do them one by one. Capita are aware of this and it's on their timeline to resolve. 3. When new users sign up they are automatically redirected to a page which tells them that they're not authorised, at which point most give up. Capita are aware of this and it's on their timeline to resolve. 4. First choice for sign up is a SIMS login. No one who has anything to do with our school has a SIMS login. 5. When we turn on lesson attendance, parents see random lessons per day, and no lesson marks. eg one parent sees lessons 2, 3 and 6. Another parent sees lessons 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. 6. For no apparent reason, some users don't get synced up to the Parent App at all. If we delete them and then recreate them exactly as they were, they then appear. 7. When recording achievements and behaviour using the register, where all details ie class and teacher are automatically filled in, none of those details are sent to the Parent App. So parents and pupils have no idea who gave the mark or what subject it was given for. If you do all of this via focus > behaviour management > achievement or behaviour > select pupils > select class > select teacher ...then those details make it up to the app. Capita are aware of this and it's on their timeline to resolve. We're paying top dollar for this junk and none of it seems to be working yet.
  21. We had both laptops for every teacher and desktops in every classroom until this year when our upgrade made that too expensive. Previously most laptops stayed at home. permanently. As we recycled old laptops the transition hasn't been smooth. This particular model has a very weak VGA connector, but thankfully a HDMI port as well. Problems projecting seem to be to do with staff never rebooting the machines. Apart from that it's been ok so far.
  22. Micro usb charge ports are a weakness all told. I'd almost want to open the phone up and glue it in tight. I hate mechanical components prone to failing. Less buttons and ports the better. It's just a shame wireless charging tech doesn't work better. Shout our for the Xiaomi Redmin Note 5. Got one for my daughter for £130 and it's been rock solid. Big battery. Still fast and getting updates after a couple of years.
  23. And down again for a few hours this evening. Service page showing always up.
  24. MkII

    VGA booster

10M These laptops have all just been imaged. They should have identical drivers but I'll check. I've just been around and updated the driver. Intel HD3000. Res could be different. I'll check that. Must try different adaptors. Problem is this member of staff has taken the laptop home and won't appear again until she needs the projector to work. Joys.
