CCTV is a piece of p**s to setup yourself. Companies will charge you a fortune for what you could do in a couple of hours. I run a QNAP NAS box which does all the work and comes with the software you need. A £35 licence per camera and your choice of camera leaves you setup. Sooo........ gonna kick yourself..... In the installation folder of Creo 4 there is a PDF called "read me first"..... Page 146 gives details on how to script it. In a nutshell, install it once, pick some XML files out and then install it again with an "-xmlall "C:\LINKTOFOLDERCONTAININGXMLFILES" " and it works....... Been putting this off for a year and after a day of failing to make an msi i found this. Still a tad more complicated than it had to be but still..... feeling sheepish.

Morning all, Not a rant as such but an honest question. Has anyone ever had a positive experience with PTC's Creo software? Setting up v2 years back was a pain but its upgrade time now. My tech requested a code a few weeks back but didn't get anything back and find their support take weeks to get back to you if at all. Is it just me or is it like they purposely go out their way to make it a huge pain for anyone to get ahold of, deploy and use their software in schools? Anyone have anything good to say? Ta

Hello all, Not sure where I should put this question as it covers network, wireless and hardware but here goes... We just rolled out over 60 Chromecasts around our school to improve wireless projecting. Our tests were very successful however now we have many of them things are not going well. Noticeable lag and frequent drop outs are common place around the site. I know there is little chance of a magic fix but wondered if anyone knows a way to improve this. Its on its own VLAN but wondered if anyone has any experience of getting these to work in bulk correctly? I could make a separate 5Ghz SSID or look into QoS but these are all large tasks and wanted to see if there was first hand experience before I start pouring time into this. Thanks all

LTSB All the way from me. Deploy it and sit back for the next 9 and a half years until the next one gets deployed. No feature changing updates, no hassle of apps and just a good stable OS.

have you updated your boot image and MDT? I had a similar thing with deploying 8 years back and a few updates and new PXE boot image solved it.

Morning all, I have a computing teacher who wants to teach game coding. He wanted to use godot however there was a problem with permissions and could never get the thing to run correctly so we wondered if anyone could recommend something. In a perfect world he wants to use something Python based. Additionally I would really like something lazy to deploy. Something which comes in MSI or at least has command line install parameters. Its not beyond me to install harder packages but I'm getting near 40 and find it a chore. Free is best but paid solutions are not out the question (even pricey ones) Thanks all

Has anyone used Prowise Chromebooks and can give me some feedback on them? At £159 each including the management licence and 3 year warranty I am all but going to order them unless there are numerous horror stories. Looking for 75 of them as they work so much better than the Casio wireless display software we currently have but hitting a wall ordering over 10 of them from retail places. We just gave our staff some HP 430 G5 laptops with the specs you said (13.3" screen) and loving them. HP support are a great asset. Got them for little over £500 each from Galtec. 4 months in and trouble free.

Hangouts if you have Google but if not I dont see why old fashion email wont do the trick.

If it were me, I would approach a smaller phone company and ask them to take over the phone system for you. They will have the contacts to document the thing and get it working. May be a labour cost but its what they do all day. You could no doubt even negotiate cheaper call costs as a way to sell it to the higher ups. We're going to a VOIP system soon as my understanding is the older lines are going to be replaced in about 4-5 years time anyway so could be worth just calling it quits and investigating a different system to start from scratch with.

I did ours inhouse with a QNAP server which cost about £7-800 with 4TB installed. D-Link cameras (I was surprised as you are) are good for £400 ish. Licence cost per camera was about £20 and then whatever you want to spend on PoE and cabling and you are away. Very easy to do yourself whatever route you go down. I find these companies take the total smeg on price. Total money for old rope and the system we put in kicks the arse of the one we used to spend a fortune on.
