Thought the reason was he did not want to do another Sci-Fi film after After Earth flopped.

We've had 1 of the Dell 790's (and a few more should be ordered shortly) and they are nice small machines.
-
For now staff would have to create their own notebooks so some integration either with AD or just 365 groups would be handy but it's a nice start. Might see if anyone wants to use it next term.

I set on up this morning for the fun of it. First time it did not want to click the create button, but was fine a second time I went through the wizard.

We used Digital Air when we upgraded our WiFi just over 2 years ago (and are using them again to add some additional capacity now we have a new building going up) and they certainly were competitive in the price and have given us good support for a couple of minor issues since installation. We have (or will have) 50 AP's covering 14 buildings and fields by October.

We have part of the script further on that copies the created files to a remote directory so we basically just over write the local copies.

Create folder and add file to it for a set of PCs on the network.

You could create a basic CC3 package to copy the file over and import it into the RMMC. It should work but I've not had the pleasure of actually using CC4. -
you mean something like # Common SIMS Backup Variables. $BackupPath = "D:\Backups" $SAPassword = "?blah?" $DBServer = "localhost\sims2014" $DBAttach = "d:\program files\microsoft sql server\mssql12.sims2014\mssql\binn\DbAttach.exe" # Backup SQL databases and copy to backup share. Write-Host "Perform Backup of SQL databases and copy to backup..." Import-Module SQLPS -DisableNameChecking Invoke-Sqlcmd -ServerInstance $DBServer -Username "Sa" -Password $SAPassword -Query "exec sims.sims.db_p_transfer_login" Start-Sleep -s 30 Invoke-Sqlcmd -ServerInstance $DBServer -Username "Sa" -Password $SAPassword -Query "exec ccsfms.sims.db_p_transfer_login" Start-Sleep -s 30 &$DBAttach /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=$DBServer /DATABASE=SIMS /USER=sa /PASSWORD=$SAPassword /PATH=$BackupPath\SIMS.BAK | Out-Host &$DBAttach /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=$DBServer /DATABASE=CCSFMS /USER=sa /PASSWORD=$SAPassword /PATH=$BackupPath\FMS.BAK | Out-Host &$DBAttach /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=$DBServer /DATABASE=Solus3_deployment_server /USER=sa /PASSWORD=$SAPassword /PATH=$BackupPath\SOLUS.BAK | Out-Host &$DBAttach /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=$DBServer /DATABASE=Discover /USER=sa /PASSWORD=$SAPassword /PATH=$BackupPath\Discover.BAK | Out-Host

About 400-500 meters of fibre to install to a new sports hall that is currently being constructed (plus additional cables for telephones, alarms etc) And that's about it so far (unless someone comes up with a request in the next couple of days as our budgets shut next Wednesday!)

sorry he is busy with sharepoint today so unable to save us from Daleks

We use HAP for our governors and they all like the fact that documents don't need e-mailing out and are readily available (as long as they can follow the simple connection guide for the wifi)

EDIT 2016 - See you in the pub thread
Boredguy replied to Dos_Box's topic in General EduGeek News/Announcements
Ah but does it have the vibrating bobbin under the control unit which replaces the beeping sound Anyway get into the pub as I'm about to leave work and go home you lucky sod -
Thank you very much. You've done great work with it so far.
-
It's ok, just feed @DJ-1701 some fish and he's fine.
-
We've been running 365 for a few years now and never experienced any of the issues that the dashboard report, so nothing to worry about.
-
@ass17 we don't have any portable printers, and our laptops are standalones. Students save their exam work onto a USB stick which then gets printed off on another machine in their presence (the Exams Officer has not cotton onto the fact they can do this from the teachers computer in the room yet, so give it to reception to print off) If WritePad could be called with a switch (say /open %1) and it automatically loaded the file specified by the variable that would be sufficient as we can just associate the .ExamText for the computers ourselves. If it's not possible don't worry, I've got a 2x4 ready to educate the office staff with

We have some pre-printed paper from our outsources supplier, but otherwise letters are typed onto a template with the header/footer in place and either it gets printed in mono if it's a bulk letter, or via a colour copier if it's a one off.
-
@ass17, not sure if this is possible or not, but due to PEBCAK issues with 1.9 and our office staff, how easy would it be to have a saved document to be able to open in Exam WritePad on startup if the file location was provided, that way we could register the file extension for it similar to Office. Our loveable office staff seem unable to follow the bullet point instructions I provided (almost tempted to reissue with pictures!) so appear to be printing it out via notepad

As @Steve21 said, just turn off Conversations via the "All >" dropdown menu at the top of the e-mails list.

I thought T4 was well and truly retired now?
-
Just reply that the job was testing if anyone was reading their e-mails

Our Outlook clients also set to cache 1 Month to ensure that any hiccups it has is minimal (and we get a couple every now and then) however the webmail always works. Always handy to have another method of checking if the site is accessible even if it's via a mobile devices 3G. That would rule out any issues with your tenancy and point it more towards ISP/Filtering issues (which 9 times out of 10 it is)

Can you login to the portal at all (https://login.microsoftonline.com) Is it accessible via a device not on your school internet (such as your mobile) Their support number is 0800 032 6417

We have a set of very old laptops that just about run Windows 7 slowly (unless we put a SSD in them which we have for 5) On them we have installed Exam Writepad as created by @ass17 (previously it was Windows XP and Notepad) None of them have functioning Wifi. Students are seated near to a power socket in the exam room, which for our assisted lot is normally a mobile.

I think we should make a swift exit from this thread for the weekend.
