  1. SSD's can fail just as much as a mechanical HDD, and using a minimum of Raid 1 to ensure the data is available across 2 disks in case of a drive failure is the minimum I'd want on any server regardless of backup infrastructure.
  2. Hamiliton is like Marmite at times, you either love or hate what he's done in F1. As for the problems getting past Alonso, thats not much of a shock when you look at how fast he was through sector 2 in Mexico all weekend, and Lewis had a badly damaged defuser. Merc have admitted their car hasn't always been the best out there this year but as a team they did well. The only way to ever work out how "good" a driver is, is for them all to be in a single make series with identical setups. I don't support a driver, I watch it for the action and stratergy and tbh this season has been much better than previous ones even though the championships have been wrapped up before the last race.
  3. Oh they want to take their toys and run off. Sure they tried that previously....
  4. Yep SWGfL rolled back the change on Tuesday evening as I think lots of us called in. The engineer I spoke to implied that it was set by accident
  5. If you have the AD Sync running then Unify should pick up the new AD password once it takes effect on your network. Depending which version of Windows server you are running you can set different password policies so that your students (and staff) have to reset their password every X number of days and what complexity level they need to use.
  6. If you have users who haven't or can't reset their password you can point them to a different filter for the short term. When we moved to the RM UBF in summer we did a force reset of all the students passwords so we knew they were in the Safetynet system then made the kids change it again at logon. It did mean that for some users they had to wait until the next password sync (which is every 15 mins for us) before it stopped nagging them to enter the username and password. Oh and as a further aside, once UBF is enabled your staffproxy does not work along side it. I would suggest setting the Sync tool up and they give users a week to change their passwords before moving them over. Then you can have the different groups so that they can access twitter but not facebook (but good luck with getting all the domains entered as the social media will allow all the staff to have access but at least not the students)

CCL are limited on 8th Gen stock atm as they are waiting for more to arrive from the US before they update their site and their pre-built product range.

I'd be looking at 7th Gen i5 or comparible Ryzen and a 1060 if your on a budget. 8Gb Ram can start you off, and you can always get another 8Gb in a few months. That said I'm still rocking a 2nd Gen i5 with a GTX 1070 and get smooth 60fps all day long but will get round to a 8th Gen CPU at some point
  9. If your not getting any error beeps with just the bare motherboard, that might be the problem since you said you have already removed everything else and checked with a different PSU.
  10. Been a while since we got round to updating our ZoneDirector and with the recent WPA2 hotfix that might be forthcoming thought we should get round to updating the firmware. So sanity check time. Can someone confirm I've read the release notes for ZD3000 9.12.3.0.49 (MR3 Refresh2) correctly as the last one that supports a ZoneDirector 3000 with r500, zf7372, zf7762-s and zf7982 Access points. Looking at the 9.13 I can see that the 7762 range is not supported so obviously that rules out that upgrade.
  11. Yep already got my Tony Beets bleep counter reset Also Lucifer Season 3 is looking like an interesting one after the first 2 weeks.
  12. *unplugs @DJ-1701's USB c lead.

If you don't have another spare HDMI port on the TV, put a good HDMI switch in as LeMarchand suggested, and have your NUC connected to it as well so you know that to view PC input it's always on HDMI port X and just press the switch button to go between laptop & NUC. Unroll the HDMI lead as required. Building a good gaming PC into a desktop case is possible, but you would be looking at £500-£600 and depending on what type of games you like the Xbox One X might be better
  14. Ironically we're looking at getting some EB-X27's now once we check they are ok with our current projectors install location (and we can adapt the mounting plate from the Sanyo's thats been up the best part of 15 years) Sometimes it can be cheaper to replace an entire unit as they seem to be falling into the disposable range
  15. Our Reval unit failed last thursday so the Kitchen manager called mid morning and did not get a call back that day. As it was our open evening I thought the "out of order" sign didn't give a good impression so turned the unit off at the mains for a few seconds. Was enough to get the Windows 7 mini pc to boot cleanly and go back to waiting for the customers to scan or enter their pin. Thankfully I've not had to call them myself this year as it took a while last year
  16. So far there is no mention of who else will be in the TR next season with Gasly. It's assumed it will still be Danni but depends if Honda has a driver with enough points to get a superlicence.
  17. Kvyat is only sitting out the next 2 races as Gasly has an existing race when F1 goes to Austin
  18. Think he was a bit restrained since a 1400HP car and the big drops could have caused a bit of an issue for him.
  19. We had the server capacity spare, so went down the route of setting up SCCM and using Endpoint Protection that comes with the EES licence. Saved ourselves around £1700 over the next 3 years compared to renewing our Sophos licences
  20. Ths only effects sites on the full EES agreement and 1000 FTE or higher. Schools on the OVS-ES agreements have no change at present to pricing. If you are on EES there you can choose to have a single 12 month extension of your current agreement before transistioning to the new model.
  21. I don't know, he left lots of carbon footprints at turn 1 and on the way to turn 3
  22. Well he needs to counter the private jet he uses all the time somehow..
  23. We use a mixture of GPO and Registry tweaks for our Outlook to store the OST on a central file server so that when users move between workstations they don't have to redownload the e-mail all the time. It's been working nicely for the last few years.
  24. Yep into the Hudson
  25. Sat down and watched Scully on Friday and Underworld:Blood Wars on Saturday Not too bad and certainly passed a couple of hours
