I know Admins in 365 can access anyone's OneDrive's, but the permissions for staff to do so could be "interesting"

When are you planning to move your school(s) to Windows 11?
Ex-MGSTech replied to localzuk's topic in Windows 11
Really? -
Personally we maintain at least one physical DC on any given domain...I know you can obviously, but its much easier starting up a cluster knowing Ad is up already!

we have a performance tiered HP SAN (SSD.15k>10k >10k MDM) which is transparent to the cluster. this serves six Hyper-V hosts running Server 2016 Data centre (HP DL360 Gen 9's (x4 & 2 x Gen 8's). our hosts were added in pairs and have from196Gb up to 300Gb of RAM all connect via 10Gb Copper ethernet to two multi-way 10Gb panels to the SAN which also has 2 x controllers at 2 x 10gb each. I'm planning on keeping this setup but replacing the older hosts with faster newer HP DL360's next year but with more cores and multiple CPU's and LOTS more RAM the new Gen 10 DL360's are much more capable too! You could look at creating a second cluster based on two new machines and migrate your VM's across? Steve

South Coast Summer EduSocial - 28th July 1pm
Ex-MGSTech replied to AJWhite1970's topic in General Chat
Thank for the invite but I'm committed (or should be?) to new build meetings with suppliers on the 28th... Could host here in the summer at some point? Salisbury's a bit of a treck! See if a supplier would cover Pizza and Coffee/Pastries ? Steve -
Spoofing messages in Teams via a browser
Ex-MGSTech replied to Ex-MGSTech's topic in Office Software
All true and of course pretty much anything cab be photoshopped! -
Anyone want to confirm this please (Works for me) Open Teams in a browser Find a previous chat session with anyone Press F12 Search for one of their previous messages (Ctrl+F) (MAY BE MORE THAN ONE OCCURANCE) double click to replace the text in the search window with ANYTHING you like Press F12 to close the window Screenshot the page Submit as evidence of inappropriate comments from a member of staff to a pupil? This only changes at your end not the text in the server copy as if your refresh it returns to normal.... Anyone know if F12 can be denied to students in all browsers? (this was in Chrome)

Student needs to use Glucose Monitor thru WiFi
Ex-MGSTech replied to fiza's topic in How do you do....it?
Are there any login session limits on your WiFi system? -
All gone :-(

We have an RD gateway BUT you'd be better off deploying Always on VPN, then school owned devices will have a transparrent VPN and thiink they are connected anyway... Only issue may be staff without a laptop? But unless you have a terminal server or virtual desktops RD Gateway would only work if you have a machine on in school. How about Remote Apps which is what we have done with MFA?

I'm still reluctant to install the client ( Any client that used a vulnerability to bypass local permissions to install is somewhat doggy to me) and highly doubtful that enabling access for all students is a good idea. As soon as we do we'll be asked to police its use and that's just not possible.... I've enabled it for staff via the web, but the mental Health charity MIND are no ONLY using Zoom and our pastoral team want to be able to let MIND have Zoom sessions unsupervised by staff... I know that eventually I'll be overruled by our head who will only consider that he "needs" it and not why I'm resisting it! "Business needs" trump security considerations when you have no comprehension of the latter!

Same here, we didn't build them with the ability to connect to any domain! and you would need conditional access to make sure they were clean before being allowed back on surely? Everyone's blinded by COVID testing so laptops are not getting any thought!

We replaced ours in the summer but with Ruckus and a virtual controller This was for 63 AP's, a Virtual controller (self hosted) 3 years worth of support, moving some ethernet points to obtain better coverage and an external point to point link £35.5k (we already had all the POE required) Oh and they mounted all the New AP's and took down the old ones. and did before and after signal maps..
