I hate this practise with a passion, time and time again you tire of simple software downloads becoming a trawl where you have to watch what sh*t programs try to install when you use them. Most of the sites doing this have been mentioned, but I was suprised in SourceForge, I genuinely didn't think that they would go down this route.

if you cant go DD, move to a provider that doesnt do standing charges on pre-pay meters as a matter of urgency, I think Swalec who we are with do not put a SC on their pre-payment meters, as that is a form of robbery for pre-payment meters, £1.80 a day x30 being £54 a month just for that. Thats probably where half your costs are going there.

our LEA use computacenter to cover the hardware on our HP Server that they supply, their over their initial warranty period here with us and touch wood we havent ever had a problem with them ourselves.

not that I am aware, your not setting a transparent proxy in your settings or anything like that ? I know the home users dont get static IPs with them either, so if you reboot the modem someone else can get that IP

Have a core i3 here with 8gb of ram and a 250gb hard disk drive with dual 20" widescreen monitors, better than most staff PCs in terms of RAM and processor, the highest specced machines we supply everyone are HP DC7900s

they seem to be a persistently poor company, yet our governments bung contracts at them nonetheless, makes you wonder doesnt it.

I am on a card meter here and I resolutely wont go back to being DD like I tried once, had a massive argument with the eon and personally I think people would be better off watching themselves with any of the big 6, their operating a form of legalised theft I believe nowadays, especially if you dont keep track of the bills and want to work out the maths behind it. My wife and I never had massive usage, when originally on a card meter, we were averaging £20-£25 a month on both gas and electric, even in winter it only went up to about £30-£35 and then mostly on gas, thanks to my use of bright energy saving lightbulbs pretty much everywhere(100W equivalent ones so we dont go blind) and very scant use of the dryer. I took out their option to go DD for the electric as it was easier supposedly and they started trying to rip us off from the get go, wanted a DD of around £35 a month, which jumped to them wanting about £85 a month in winter (September onwards), gas was similar, they wanted £40 a month and then £90 in winter, which we had a massive argument with them about as we were not that high on a card meter for both utilities prior to switching, they reckoned then in February, from our meter readings that we had used and owed them back then about £400 when it came to the February, we waited for their year to finish then went to Swalec on a card meter and havent looked back since. Even with our son now and having to keep the house heated were not putting more than £50 a month on the gas, electric is stable as well at around £25 a month in usage (the only thing that uses mass amounts of electric with us is the 500W PSU in my machine, meaning I use the iPad for anything outside of an hours gaming a day)

I have my virgin internet plugged into my sky box and its worked fine from day one, no issues. As others have said you can usually start watching a program within about 10 seconds of downloading it, it takes me about 5 mins to download a movie to the box on the on demand service, im on the 120mb service here though. I will never do Virgin TV again after they argued with sky last time, I lost pretty much all the channels I watched overnight then (Sky1 and a few others)

I tried running the installer on the iso here and that failed miserably, I was getting stuck at 100% all the time here, before deciding to nuke my machine and get it installed from scratch. What I will say though, its excellent so far, lot of the gripes I had are gone and even the start screen now can be made infinitely better than it was before.

from my site, I personally would not touch another Brother printer, they work great for a year or two then its an uphill battle as pretty much everything inside needs replacing on the devices, (we have 5170DN, HL 1250s, 2700CNs and several 4040s). I am moving our personal printers over to HP slowly, largely for reliability, we have only just gotten rid of some Laserjet 4L, that were still going strong after 10+ years of printing, drivers can be a pain, I tend to avoid the universal one too, its a lot of hassle at times. Reliability I would rather here, things breaking down just generates work for me in the long run.

I forgot to add, that was one of the massive issues I took with facebook, the fact that photos appear in your timeline without you having prior warning, a couple of friends got a while back had some grim stuff put on them to do with tropical diseases, which I was forced to view on my feed without warning, after removing the friends it did make me question all of this stuff. I rationalised that I got on fine within my life without facebook before going on there and have since happily proved again that I cannot be on there. Trouble with certifying films, thats only done through people with the intention of marketing or selling it I believe, home made videos like these nasties are never going to be put before a censor board.

Facebooks minimum required age is 13 I believe, anyone under 8 should not have an account. I don't agree with this one bit, personally I think its very questionable behaviour from the company to allow the publishing of this material, I think its the same for Youtube, what have you got to gain from seeing these horrific acts ? all it generates is fear in people. I am not on Facebook since June this year, I left when they changed their T+Cs again to ride roughshod over a persons rights to their own photographs/videos on there, I spent a three hour session deleting all my data possible from there before hitting the delete me button. Personally I think its the best thing that I ever did, turn my back on social media, I came off Facebook, Twitter and Google+ that week and haven't looked back since, I keep in touch with my friends directly now, which is great, theres a more private non-intrusive version of social networking, that I call phone, text or email

Any chance we can have the return of the colour choices for the forums as before ? at the moment we either have purple of blue, I wouldnt mind the option of something different or being able to change it from time to time. Thanks, Richard

Spiceworks here, not a bad program, but you do have to turn about 90% of the stuff it comes with off after installation.

I thought that wiping a disk could not invalidate a warranty, try escalating your call to management there personally, thats not a run of the mill problem.

my parents won £42,000 about 5 years ago on it, matched 5+ bonus on a midweek draw, my dad bought a car out of that and we had a brilliant few months after it

a cynical part of me thinks these companies want it to be a little scarce, if its "sold out" and cant be gotten anywhere, it drives the press to keep talking about it being unavailable, game are woeful though, especially when it comes to their wanting you to pre-order everything to guaranteee availability, awful way to go about business by not catering to casual market of people walking in off the street.

I am definitely inclined to agree about them being absolutely crap, unless your joining them new, like me and the wife were last year, then they could not do enough for you, 2x free iphones then and even throwing money at us in form of free months x2 each. They were appalling in helping to close down all my sisters affairs after she passed away suddenly this year, repeated phone calls and letters to both EE and orange got absolutely nowhere in relation to closing her account down afterwards, even after I sent them all the details they needed straight after her death was registered, they even kept her account open purposely in my mind to see if they could get more cash out of her, as after I sent them the details, they still debited nearly £40 out of her account in the closing of that. Forgot to add : I switched from O2 to these and my signal is nowhere near as good in the area I work in now, thats my only other beef with them since switching.

I think I am more looking forward to the iOS7 update than anything here at the moment, I have a 4S, probably when my contract expires end of January/Feb I will look at the 5S, partially because I on the platform and it does seem a decent phone, though I won't be getting it if its a massive amount of cash for the phone, the networks usually subsidise this stuff to get you on there, as I didn't pay anything at all for the 4S when I had it, despite it supposedly being £149 to get, think they are more eager to discount though given my wife and I renew ours the same time and their both on the same account. Was a bit miffed at giving away of iMovie and iPhoto though, considering I paid for them, I wont hold my breath waiting on a refund though there
